- Father: Théodoric I King of the Visigoths
- Mother: Amalaberge D`OSTROGOTHIE
- Birth: ABT 415
- LifeSketch: Wikipedia A daughter of Theodoric I of the Visigoths had been married to Huneric, a son of the Vandal ruler Genseric (in 429?), but Huneric later had ambitions to wed Eudocia, a daughter of the Emperor Valentinian III. He therefore accused the daughter of Theodoric of planning to kill him, and in 444 had her mutilated - her ears and nose cut off - and sent back to her father, which earned the enmity of the Vandals.

- Father: Théodoric I King of the Visigoths
- Mother: Amalaberge D`OSTROGOTHIE
- Birth: ABT 422, Toulouse, Kingdom of the Visigoths, Gaul, Roman Empire
- LifeSketch: Rechiar, Suevic King of Gallaecia, married an Arian Visigothic princess from Toulouse, the daughter of Theodoric I. The marriage of Catholic to Arian was not advantageous for the church of the former, and the influence of Rechiar's queen and another later Arian queen helped bring about the conversion of the Suevi not to Catholicism, but to Arianism. --

- Father: Æthelwulf King of Wessex
- Mother: Osburga OSLACSDOTTER
- Birth: 833, Wantage, Berkshire, Wessex
- Also known as: Æthelbald
- Also known as: Ethelbald
- Also known as: Ethelbald
- APPOINTED KING OF WESSEX: In 855 Æthelwulf went on pilgrimage to Rome and appointed Æthelbald King of Wessex.
- REFUSED TO RETURN KINGSHIP TO ÆTHELWULF: Upon Æthelwulf's returned to England in 856, Æthelbald refused to give up the crown. The Kingdom of Wessex was divided, with Æthelbald ruling the west and his father the east., 856, Wessex
- FATHER DIED: Upon his father's death Æthelbald became unopposed ruler of all of Wessex, and ruled until his own death in 860
- MARRIED HIS STEP MOTHER, JUDITH OF FRANCE: Immediately upon the death of his father and succeeding him as king, Æthelbald married his step-mother, 14 year old Judith of France. This was probably done to strengthen his position as king because Judith was the daughter of the West Frankish king.
- Title Of Nobility: King of England, Roi des Wessex, King of Wessex, König der West Sachsen
- LifeSketch: Æthelbald was the second son of King Æthelwulf of Wessex and his first wife Osberga, born about 834 in Wessex. His oldest brother Æthelstan is believed to have died shortly after defeating the Vikings in 850. Æthelwulf and Æthelbald defeated them again at the Battle of Aclea in 851. In 855 Æthelwulf appointed Æthelbald acting King of Wessex and his next younger brother Æthelberht acting King of Kent, while he went on pilgrimage to Rome. Æthelwulf returned from Rome in late 856 with a 12 year old bride, Judith of France. Not only was Judith younger than Æthelbald but she had been anointed Queen, where as Osberga, Æthelbald's mother had not. In rebellion against his father Æthelbald refused to return control of Wessex to Æthelwulf. In the end they split Wessex. After Æthelwulf's death in 858, Æthelbald immediately married his father's young widow. Æthelbald became full King of all of Wessex and Æthelberht full King of Kent. Æthelbald reigned on his own, with Judith by his side, for about 2 1/2 years and died in July of 860. Æthelberht who was already King of Kent succeeded his brother to become King of Wessex as well and united the two into one kingdom. Judith and Æthelbald had no children and Judith returned to France to eventually marry Baldwin, Margrave of Flanders.

- Also known as: Aethelberht , King of Essex & Kent
- KING OF KENT: When Æthelwulf went on pilgrimage to Rome in 855 he appointed his oldest surviving son, Æthelbald, as king of Wessex while Æthelberht became king of the recently conquered territory of Kent., 855, Kent, England
- KING OF WESSSEX: When Æthelbald died in 860, Æthelberht united his own territory of Kent and that of his brother Wessex under his rule. He did not appoint a sub-king and Wessex and Kent were fully united for the first time.
- LifeSketch: Æthelberht (or Ethelbert, Aethelberht) was the third son of King Aethelwulf of Wessex by his first wife Osburh. We know very little about his early life, but we do know that when his father went on a pilgrimage to Rome in AD 855 Aethelberht was appointed subking of Kent, while his elder brother Aethelbald reigned in Wessex. He briefly handed Kent back to his father when his brother Aethelbald usurped the Wessex throne. When Aethelbald died childless in 860 the throne of Wessex passed to Aethelberht, and the two halves of the kingdom were united. Aethelberht was crowned at Kingston-upon-Thames, as were his brother and father before him. The place name comes from the Old English Cyning and tun, meaning 'the king's manor', and was the earliest known royal borough. Few of Aethelbert's deeds are recorded, but we know his reign was plagued by raiding Vikings. Forces under the influence of Ragnar Lodbrok and his son Ivar 'The Boneless' Ragnarsson were particularly troublesome to the southern kingdoms. In 864, Ragnar Lodbrok's forces settled themselves on the Isle of Thanet and wintered there, with the reluctant acceptance of the Wessex authorities. In 865 Ivar invaded, reaching Winchester and burning the city. Aethelberht rallied his forces and drove the Vikings back. Curiously, despite all these troubles with the Vikings, the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle describes Aethelberht's reign as a time of peace and harmony. During Aethelberht's reign, all Saxon territory, including Sussex, Essex, and Kent, was merged into the kingdom of Wessex, placing the South under one rule. Unlike his predecessors Aethelberht did not put a family member on the throne of Kent as a subking, but rather ruled the entire territory of Wessex himself. This meant that virtually all of southern England was one unified kingdom. Aethelberht seems to have gathered together an assembly of both West Saxon and Kentish representatives to witness his charters, another sign of how he pulled together the disparate parts of southern England into one body. Aethelbert died in 865 and was buried beside his brother Aethelbald at Sherborne Abbey in Dorset. The throne passed to his younger brother Aethelred, rather than to Aethelberht's children. It was in this year that York was conquered and settled by the Vikings, creating the germ of the Danelaw, the Danish sphere of influence which eventually covered most of modern England and rivalled Wessex. -"Athelbehrht (Ethelbert) of Wessex c. 836-865" by David Ross https://www.britainexpress.com/History/Aethelberht-of-Wessex.htm

- Father: Alfred the Great
- Mother: Ealhswith of Mercia
- Birth: ABT 879, Wessex, England
- Also known as: Æthelweard of Wessex
- Also known as: Prince Ethelweard of Wessex
- Also known as: Prince Ethelweard of Wessex
- LifeSketch: Æthelweard was the younger son of King Alfred the Great and Ealhswith. He was born about 880 and died in 920 or 922. That he was Alfred's younger son by Ealhswith is stated by Asser in his biography of the king (c. 893). Asser also provides valuable detail on the boy's upbringing. Whereas his brother Edward and sister Ælfthryth were raised and educated at court, Æthelweard was sent to a type of school, where he learned to read and write both Latin and Old English and was instructed in the liberal arts "under the attentive care of teachers, in company with all the nobly born children of virtually the entire area, and a good many of lesser birth as well." Such education would have started at an early age, before the onset of adolescence Through Alfred's patronage, Æthelweard became a wealthy landowner. In his father's will (AD 873 x 888), in which he is unnamed but called Alfred's "younger son" (þam gingran minan suna ), he is the beneficiary of a vast number of estates across the south of Britain: Arreton (Isle of Wight), Dean (i.e. East Dean or West Dean, West Sussex), Meon (i.e. East Meon or West Meon, Hampshire), Amesbury (Wiltshire), Dean (probably West Dean, Wiltshire), Sturminster Marshall (Dorset), Yeovil (Somerset), Crewkerne (Somerset), Whitchurch Canonicorum (Dorset), Axmouth (Devon), Branscombe (Devon), Cullompton (Devon), Tiverton (Devon), Mylenburnan (probably Burn in Silverton, Devon), Exminster (Devon), Suðeswyrðe (possibly Lustleigh, Devon), Lifton (Devon) and appurtenant lands, i.e. all his father's property in Cornwall, except Triggshire.[5] Since the (late) 890s, Æthelweard attested several of his brother's charters.[6] According to John of Worcester, he died on 16 October 922 and his body received burial at Winchester,[7] where he was soon joined by his brother Edward (d. 924). William of Malmesbury confirms the place of burial, but places his death four years before Edward's.[8] It may have been Æthelweard whose name was entered into the New Minster Liber Vitae, fol. 9v., with the designation clito "ætheling", but if so, he seems to be mistaken for a son of Edward. William tells that Æthelweard had two sons, Æthelwine and Ælfwine, who died fighting in the Battle of Brunanburh and who were buried at Malmesbury, at the behest of their cousin King Athelstan, who was buried there himself only two years later.[9] The connection with this house is prominent in a series of three spurious charters from the Malmesbury archive, in which Athelstan is made to endow the abbey in memory of his "cousins" (patruelia) Æthelweard, Ælfwine and Æthelwine.[10] If Ælfwine and Æthelwine died childless, their deaths would have brought an end to Æthelweard's direct descent.

- Father: Ceolwald of Wessex
- Mother: Fafertach of Mumhan PRINCESS
- Birth: 644, Wessex, England
- Residence: Somerset
- Also known as: Cenred Of West Saxons
- LifeSketch: Cenred of Wessex was a member of the House of Wessex and a member of the direct male line from Cynric to Egbert. It is possible that Cenred ruled alongside his son Ine for a period. There is weak evidence for joint kingships, and stronger evidence of subkings reigning under a dominant ruler in Wessex, not long before his time. Ine acknowledges his father's help in his code of laws, and there is also a surviving land-grant that indicates Cenred was still reigning in Wessex after Ine's accession. His father was Ceolwald of Wessex. Cenred had at least four children. - Ine, king of Wessex and married Æthelburg of Wessex - Ingild, the great-grandfather of Ealhmund of Kent, and the great-great grandfather of Egbert - Cuthburh, who married Aldfrith of Northumbria, and became abbess of Wimborne - Cwenburh, who may have succeeded her sister as abbess at Wimborne.

2 Cwenburh OF WESSEX , Abbess of Wimborne
- Father: Cenred OF WESSEX
- Mother: Unknown Spouse of CENRED
- Birth: ABT 670, Kingdom of Wessex, Anglia
- Also known as: Cwenburh of Cenred
- Title Of Nobility: Princess of Wessex
- LifeSketch: From Wikipedia - Cwenburh of Wimborne was an 8th-century Anglo-Saxon saint,[1] a sister of King Ine of Wessex and of Saint Cuthburh. Her sister Cuthburh was married to King Aldfrith of Northumbria and then became the first abbess of Wimborne monastery. Very little information survives about Cwenburh. She is known primarily from a mention in a single annal of the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle: 718. In this year Ingild Ine's brother died, and their sisters were Cwenburh and Cuthburh. And Cuthburh raised the monastery at Wimborne; and she was given to Aldfrith, king of the Northumbrians; but they separated during his life. She is also included in the genealogical preface to the Chronicle in one copy, as part of a pedigree for the 9th-century King Æthelwulf of Wessex, the father of King Alfred. ... Eoppa [the son] of Ingild, and Ingild of Cenred, and Ine of Cenred, and Cuthburh of Cenred, and Cwenburh of Cenred, and Cenred of Ceolwald ... It is possible that Cwenburh succeeded Cuthburh as abbess there after her sister's death.[1] Cuthburh is later mentioned again in a list entitled On the Resting-Places of the Saints, found in two 11th century manuscripts resteth Saint Cuthburh at Wimborne Minster, that first established the life and customs that are still kept in the monastery. In one version of the list the words "and Cwenburh" appear after Cuthburh. According to Felix Liebermann who made an edition of the text in the 19th century this appears to be a later addition, and the subsequent clause remains grammatically singular, referring only to Saint Cuthburh.[2] The Abbess Tetta is sometimes viewed as a familiar name for Cwenburh, or alternatively as a third sister.[3][4]

- Title Of Nobility: Princess of Wessex, Queen of the West Franks, Dowager Queen Mother of the West Franks, Countess of Omois.
- LifeSketch: Ēadgifu (also Edgifu, Edgiva or Ogive) was daughter of Edward the Elder, King of the Anglo-Saxons, and his second wife Ælfflæd. She was born in Wessex about 902. Eadgifu married King Charles III "le Simple" King of the Franks in 919, becoming his second wife. Eadgifu and Charles had one child, Charles' only legitimate son, Louis IV of France. In 922 King Charles III was deposed, after being defeated at the Battle of Soissons in 923, he was taken prisoner by Count Herbert II of Vermandois, an ally of the then current King Robert I. To protect her son's safety, Eadgifu took Louis and the rest of the royal children to England in 923 to the court of her half-brother, King Æthelstan of England. Because of this, Louis IV of France became known as Louis d'Outremer and Louis Transmarinus of France, both names meaning "from overseas". Eadgifu became a widow in 929 when her husband, former king Charles III of France, died still in captivity. Eadgifu's son Louis stayed in Wessex until 936, when he was called back to France by his uncle Hugh the Great to be crowned King. Eadgifu accompanied him. Eadgifu remained part of her son's court until Louis married Gerberga of Saxony in 939. After the marriage Eadgifu turned royal responsibilities over to Louis's wife and retired to a convent in Laon. In 951, Herbert the Old, Count of Omois, 'abducted' and married Eadgifu, to the great anger of her son. Ironically Herbert was the son of the man who captured and caused the death of Eadgifu's first husband Charles. Herbert and Eadgifu remained married until death parted them. They had no children together. Herbert survived her and lived until about 985. The Foundation for Medieval Genealogy records: EADGIFU ([902/05]-26 Sep after 951, bur Abbaye de Saint-Médard de Soissons). William of Malmesbury names (in order) "Edfleda, Edgiva, Ethelhilda, Ethilda, Edgitha, Elfgiva" as the six daughters of King Eadweard & his wife "Elfleda", specifying that Edgiva married "king Charles"[1663]. The Book of Hyde names "Edgivam" as second of the six daughters of King Eadweard by his first wife "Elfelmi comitis filia Elfleda", specifying that she married "Karolo regi Francorum filio Lodowyci"[1664]. Her birth date range is estimated from the birth of Eadgifu's son in [920/21]. If this is correct, Eadgifu must have been one of King Edward's oldest children by his second marriage. She fled with her two-year-old son to England in 923 after her first husband was deposed. She returned to France in 936. Abbess of Notre Dame de Laon, until 951. Flodoard records in 951 that “Ottogeba regina mater Ludowici regis” married “Heriberti...Adalberti fratris” and that “rex Ludowicus iratus” confiscated “abbatiam sanctæ Mariæ...Lauduni” from her and donated it to “Gerbergæ uxori suæ”[1665]. Married firstly ([917/19]) as his second wife, CHARLES III "le Simple" King of the Franks, son of LOUIS II "le Bègue" King of the West Franks & his second wife Adélaïde [d'Angoulême] (posthumously 17 Sep 879-Péronne 7 Oct 929, bur Péronne St Fursy). Married secondly (951) HERIBERT [III] Comte "le Vieux" [de Vermandois], son of HERIBERT [II] Comte de Vermandois & his wife Adela [Capet] ([910/15]-[980/984]). He succeeded his brother Robert in 967 as Comte de Meaux et de Troyes. https://fmg.ac/Projects/MedLands/ENGLAND,%20AngloSaxon%20&%20Danish%20Kings.htm#Eadgifudiedafter951

She was born in Wessex. Eadgifu was one of three West Saxon sisters married to Continental rulers: the others were Eadgyth, who married Otto I, Holy Roman Emperor and Eadhild, who married Hugh the Great. Eadgifu became the second wife of King Charles III of France, whom she married in 919 after the death of his first wife, Frederonne. Eadgifu was mother to Louis IV of France. - SHIPWRECKED WHILE FLEEING: After William the Conqueror took the throne of England, Margaret and her family fled, possibly heading back to Hungary, and were shipwrecked off the coast of Scotland.
- Title (Nobility): Queen of Scotland
- LifeSketch: Margaret of Wessex, also known as Saint Margaret of Scotland, was the daughter of Edward the Exile and his wife Agatha of Hungary, and the granddaughter of King Edmund Ironside. Margaret was born about 1045 at Réka Castle on the family estate "Terra Britanorum de Nadasd" near Mecseknádasd, Hungary. She was the sister of Edgar Ætheling and Cristina Abbess of Romsey. Margaret's father Edward had been exiled from England as an infant and grew up in Hungary and Kiev. Edward moved his family from Hungary to London, England in 1057 when summoned by King Edward the Confessor, to be his Heir Apparent. Her father died shortly after their arrival in England and Margaret's family were taken into the court of Edward the confessor. King Edward died in January 1066 and his successor died later that same year. Margaret's younger brother Edgar, who was only about 14 was elected King of England but never crowned, and instead submitted to the invading William the Conqueror. Margaret, her mother and her siblings fled the conflict and were shipwrecked off the coast of Scotland in 1068/69. The castaways were given refuge by King Malcolm III of Scotland and by 1070 Malcolm and Margaret were married, making Margaret Queen Consort of Scotland. Some accounts such as that of Orderic Vitalis state that King Malcolm arranged with Edward the Confessor to marry Margaret in 1059, however, the betrothal was not honored and this led to the Scots invasion of Northumbria in 1061. The previous marital agreement would also explain why the family fled to Scotland and not back to Hungary. Margaret and Malcolm had eight children, six sons and two daughters: - Edward (c. 1071-1093), died in the Battle of Alnwick, with his father - Edmund (c.1072 -1097) - Ethelred (1073 - 1093), Abbot of Dunkeld, Perth and Kinross - Edgar (c.1074-1107), King of Scotland, 1097-1107 - Alexander I (c.1078-1124), King of Scotland, 1107-24 - Edith (c. 1080-1118), also named "Matilda", married King Henry I of England - Mary (1082-1116), married Eustace III of Boulogne - David I (c.1084-1153), King of Scotland, 1124-1153 Margaret was a genuinely devout Christian and through her influence on her husband was responsible for many reforms in the Church of Scotland. Margaret's husband Malcolm III and oldest son Edward both died 13 November 1093 in the Battle of Alnwick. Margaret herself died 3 days later on 16 November 1093, in Edinburgh at the Castle of Maidens, reportedly from grief. She was buried before the high altar in Dunfermline Abbey in Fife, Scotland. On 19 June 1259 Margaret was canonized as 'Saint Margaret of Scotland' by Pope Innocent IV in recognition of her personal holiness, fidelity to the Church, work for religious reform, and charity. Her Feast Day is 16 November. Mary I of Scotland had Margaret's head brought to Edinburgh Castle as a religious relic in 1560, believing it would assist her in childbirth. --------------------------------------- “Royal Ancestry: A Study in Colonial & Medieval Families,” Douglas Richardson (2013): “MALCOLM III (CEANNMORE), King of the Cumbrians, King of Scots, eldest son of Duncan I, King of Scots, by ___, cousin of Siward, Earl of Northumberland, born about 1031. He defeated and killed Macbeth, King of Scots at Lunfanan, Mar 15 August 1057. He became King of Scots on the defeat and death of Lulach 17 March 1057/8. He was crowned at Scone 25 April 1058. In 1061 he invaded England, and ravaged Northumberland and Lindisfarne. He married (1st) INGEBIORG (or INGIBJORG), widow of Earl Thorfin Sigurdson the Mighty, Earl of Orkney (died about 1064), and daughter of Earl Finn Arnason. They had three sons, Duncan [King of Scots], Malcolm, and Donald. His wife, Ingebiorg, died 17 Feb., year unknown. He married (2nd) at Dunfermline, Fife in 1068-9 [SAINT] MARGARET, daughter of Edward the Ætheling, by his wife, Agatha, kinswoman of Henry III, Holy Roman Emperor. They had six sons, Edward, Edmund [Prince of Cumbria, afterwards a monk], Ethelred [Earl of Fife, Abbot of Dunkeld], Edgar [King of Scots], Alexander [I] [King of Scots], and David [I] [King of Scots], and two daughters, Maud and Mary....

- Title Of Nobility: Princess of Wessex
- LifeSketch: Æthelgifu (Old English pronunciation: [æðeljivu]), was the daughter of King Alfred the Great, an Anglo-Saxon king of the 9th century. She was the third of Alfred and his wife Ealhswith's five children and the second eldest daughter. She was likely born sometime in the 870s.[1] A Welsh monk named Asser who wrote a biography of Alfred the Great, described her as 'devoted to God through her holy virginity, subject and consecrated to the rule of monastic life, entered the service of God'. She was said to have become a nun as a result of her bad health.[1] Alfred founded Shaftesbury Abbey ca. 890 and placed Æthelgifu as its first abbess. This Abbey along with Athelney monastery (for monks) received 1/8 of Alfred's annual revenue in support. It appears to have housed nuns from an upper-class background. Very little is known about Æthelgifu's time as abbess.[1] In Alfred's will, there is mention of two estates left 'to his middle daughter Æthelgifu' at Kingsclere and at Candover in Hampshire, and the will itself makes no mention of her role as abbess. It is possible that the will was written before Æthelgifu became abbess, or it is possible that these estates were given to her while she was abbess, but they reverted to the male line once she died.[1] - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%86thelgifu,_abbess_of_Shaftesbury

- Title Of Nobility: Ealdorman of the Isle of Wight
- Oslac is described as a descendant of King Cerdic's Jutish nephews, Stuf and Wihtgar, who conquered the Isle of Wight and, by this, is also ascribed Geatish/Gothic ancestry.: (Date and Place unknown)
- Ealdorman of the Isle of Wight and Butler of King Æthelwulf: (Date and Place unknown)
- LifeSketch: Oslac was the 'Pincerna' or 'Royal Butler' of King Æthelwulf of Wessex, who reigned 839-858. He was not a servant in the traditional sense, it was a position of high esteem and responsibility within the royal court and household. Oslac's exact parentage is not known, he is described as a descendant of King Cerdic's Jutish nephews, Stuf and Wihtgar, who conquered the Isle of Wight. While the name of Oslac's wife is not recorded, we know they had at least one child: Osberga (Osburh) who married King Æthelwulf and became Queen Consort of Wessex. Through Osburga, Oslac was the grandfather of: King Æthelstan, King Æthelbald, King Æthelberht, King Æthelred, Queen Æthelswith, and King Alfred the Great. The Foundation for Medieval Genealogy identifies Oslac as Ealdorman of the Isle of Wight, a Goth by nation, descended from "the Goths and Jutes…namely of Stuf and Whitgar two brothers…who…received possession of the Isle of Wight from their uncle King Cerdic", "pincerna regis" the famous butler of King Æthelwulf, father of Osburga, wife of King Æthelwulf Contrary to what some may want to believe, it is not possible for Oslac the father of Osburgha and father in law of King Æthelwulf to be the same Oslac who was an Ealdorman of York between 966 and 975. Oslac, who was a retainer for King Æthelwulf circa 850, would have been nearing 200 years old in 966. Care needs to be taken not to confuse these very distinct historical figures that lived in different centuries.

- LifeSketch: Saint Edith of Wilton (c. 963[1] - c.986) (also known as Eadgyth, her name in Old English, or as Editha or Ediva, the Latinised forms of her name) was an English nun, a daughter of Edgar the Peaceful, king of England (r. 959–975). She was born between 961 and 964 and died on 16 September in a year between 984 and 987. Following her death in 984, she became the patron saint of her community at Wilton Abbey in Wiltshire and churches were dedicated to her in Wiltshire and in other parts of Anglo-Saxon England. Life (excerpt) Edith was the daughter of Edgar, by Wilfrida (or Wulfthryth), a woman of noble birth whom Edgar carried off from the nunnery at Wilton Abbey. He took her to his residence at Kemsing, near Sevenoaks, where Edith was born. Under Dunstan's direction, Edgar did penance for this crime by not wearing his crown for seven years. Although forms of bride-abduction were a traditional part of Anglo-Saxon society, whether Edgar took Wulfryth forcibly is unclear. What we do know is that she stayed with him for at least a year, and that for some time after her return to Wilton, they were on good terms. As soon as Wulfthryth could, she returned to Wilton, taking Edith with her. Edgar continued to support the abbey financially and also with land grants. - Also known as: Halfdan Whiteshanks
- Also known as: Halfdan WHITELEG , Halfdan Hvitbein\Koitbein
- Occupation: Småkonge på Opplandene
- LifeSketch: Halfdan Whiteshanks (Old Norse: Hálfdan hvítbeinn) was a semi-historical petty king in Norway, described in the Ynglinga saga. The following description is based on the account in Ynglinga saga, written in the 1220s by Snorri Sturluson. The historicity of the kings described in that saga is generally not accepted by modern historians. He was the son of Olof Trätälja of the House of Yngling. His father was sacrificed to Odin by the Swedish settlers in Värmland because of a famine. Some Swedes, however, realised that the famine was brought by overpopulation and not by the fact that the king had been neglecting his religious duties. Consequently, they resolved to cross the Ed Forest and settle in Norway and happened to end up in Soleyar, where they killed king Sölve and took Halfdan prisoner. The Swedish expatriates elected Halfdan king as he was the son of their old king, Olof. Halfdan subjugated all of Soleyar and took his army into Romerike and subjugated that province as well. Halfdan was to become a great king, who married Åsa, the daughter of king Eystein, the ruler of Oppland and Hedmark. They had two sons, Eystein Halfdansson and Gudröd. Halfdan conquered a large part of Hedemark, Toten, Hadeland and a part of Vestfold. When his brother Ingjald Olofsson died, he inherited Värmland. Halfdan died of old age in Toten and was transported to Vestfold, where he was buried under a mound in Skiringssal. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halfdan_Hvitbeinn
