- Title Of Nobility: King of the Trinovantes/South-Eastern Britain
- LifeSketch: His name is known only from his inscribed coins, the distribution of which seem to indicate that he was the ruler of the Trinovantes. He was the first king to produce inscribed coins north of the Thames, perhaps as early as 35 BC, although some estimates are as late as 15 BC. He seems to have moved the Trinovantian capital from Braughing in Hertfordshire to Camulodunum (Colchester, Essex). -- Wikiwand: Addedomarus

- Title Of Nobility: Princess ap Cwrrig
- LifeSketch: According to Geoffrey of Monmouth's 12th century "Historia Regum Britanniae," Venissa was a daughter of the Roman Emperor Claudius, whom he gave in marriage to the British king Arvirargus once he had submitted to Rome. According to Geoffrey she was very beautiful, and so enchanted Arvirargus that he preferred her company to anyone else's. He founded Gloucester, supposedly named after Claudius, in her honor. When Arvirargus fell out with Rome and Vespasian was sent to enforce a reconciliation, Venissa acted as mediator between them. -- Wikiwand: Venissa

- Fact: http://www.themorrisclan.com/GENEALOGY/BELI%20MAWR.html
- LifeSketch: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beli_Mawr http://www.missouri-mule.com/kingsofthebritons.html Beli is said to have met Anna while living in Rome, where his father was in exile. He later invited Joseph of Arimathea, and other Christians, to come to Britain. Beli is the British Christian prince, Eubulus, whose greeting the Apostle Paul sent to Timothy during his last imprisonment (2 Timothy 4:21). He is often confused with Beli Mawr and Heli (Beli), father of Lludd III. Anna's exact connection with the Holy Family remains a mystery. She is said to be either the daughter of the Virgin Mary, a cousin of Mary, or niece of Mary. Another source claims she is a daughter of Joseph of Arimathea by his first wife Escha, his brother's widow. An entry in an ancient British annal reads: "mam yr Anna honno a dywedei wyr r Eifft y bot yn (oed)gyfynnithderw y Veir Vorwyn Wyry Mam Grist". I have not been able to get a complete translation, but it essentially says that Anna’s mother was close to the Virgin Mary. A Latin manuscript in the British Museum reads: "qui fuit Beli ("Magni") et Anne mater eius, quam dicunt periti consobrinam esse Marie uirginis, matris Domino nostri Ieus Christus", which translates to "Which was the son of Belus, the Great, his mother Anne, whom say the experts, was the cousin of the Virgin Mary, the mother of our Lord Christ; Jesus". Beli was the son of Mynogen. Beli was the husband of the goddess Don, the daughter of Mathonwy. Beli was the father of five sons: Amathon, Nudd, Govannon, Gwydyon and Gilvaethwy. Beli was also the father of two daughters: Aranrhod and Penarddun, the wife of Llyr. According to the story of Llud and Llevelys, Beli was also said to be father of Lludd, Llevelys, Nynmyaw and Caswallon (Casswallawn). The Welsh Triad mentioned that his daughter was Aranrot. According, to this Triad (32), Caswallon left Britain with a host (Third Host to Leave Britain), with his nephews, Gwenwynwyn and Gwanar, sons of Lliaws and Aranrot. They were from Arllechwedd and went to Gascony. His children with Don were known as the Children of the Light, as opposed to Llyr's Children of Darkness. Beli was often called Beli Mawr. Beli was equivalent to the ancient Gallic god, Belenus, and to the Irish god, Bile. Beli Mawr "the Great" King of the Britons Birth: -110 Britain Death: -72 (38) BC, Siluria /Lord of the Celtics Beli Mawr (Beli the Great) was an ancestor deity in Welsh mythology. He was the consort of Dôn and the father of Caswallawn, Arianrhod, Lludd and Llefelys. Several royal lines in medieval Wales traced their ancestry to him. He is usually, though not universally, considered to have derived from the Celtic god Belenus. Historical linguistics suggests that the name Beli may be derived from Bolgios, a name attested as the leader of a Gaulish attack on Macedon in the 3rd century BC. It is related to the Irish "Beltane", modern Gaelic "bealtuinn" (May-day), which comes from Irish "béalteine", reflecting the diphthonging of the initial vowel from Early Irish "beltene", or "belltaine", Proto-Celtic *belo-te(p)niâ (according to Stokes) Sovereign Lord of The Celtic Britons, "The Great" Beli Mawr ("Beli the Great") was an ancestor figure in Middle Welsh literature and genealogies. He is the father of Cassivellaunus, Arianrhod, Lludd Llaw Eraint, Llefelys, and Afallach. In certain medieval genealogies he is listed as the husband of Anna, cousin of Mary, mother of Jesus. According to the Welsh Triads, Beli and Dôn were the parents of Arianrhod, but the mother of Beli's other children—and the father of Dôn's other children—is not mentioned in the medieval Welsh literature. Several royal lines in medieval Wales traced their ancestry to Beli. The Mabinogi names Penarddun as a daughter of Beli Mawr, but the genealogy is confused; it is possible she was meant to be his sister rather than daughter.[1] *From Wikipedia* A number of the Welsh royal families trace their ancestry to the man called Beli-Mawr, whose pedigrees make him descend from the legendary Brutus of Troy. [1] We doubt his birth-name was Beli (BAY-lee), this being one of the major Celtic gods, the God of the Sun. But a real man of some name spawned the ensuing families, so we shall call him Beli Mawr for lack of sources citing his birth name. He should not be confused with the fictional Beli and wife, Don, found in Welsh mythology[2]. Ancient Wales Studies By Darrell Wolcott.

- Birth: 1460, Thornbury, Gloucestershire, England, United Kingdom
- LifeSketch: SIR REVEREND JOHN THAYER was born about 1450 of Glastonbury, Somerset, England, to unknown parents. He married (1) *Mary Ann Brown; (2) Mary Ann Fairsted. John Thayer died 11 February 1487, Shadockhurst, Kent, England, age 37. • ohn Thayer of Thornbury The earliest ancestor of all the Thayers in the USA can be traced back to old John Tayer who was born around 1500/1503 and lived in Thornbury, Gloucestershire, England. He was a boy when King Henry VIII was on the throne. Now, THAT'S OLD! And if that doesn't blow your socks off, it seems that there is good evidence that old John's ancient ancestors stemmed from barbaric Saxon tribes who came to England from near the mouth of the Elbe River around 400 A.D.. This seems to be verified by the Saxon Chronicles, a manuscript researched by 10th century monks, plus many other sources. These tribes were led by the brothers Hengist and Hora and they settled on the southeast coast of England. From there, they spread northwest during the next 400 years. (Chuck resents that he's thought to come from barbaric stock--no comment--liz.) Anyway, old John and the Tayers had come a long way because John could sign his name (real letters, not just an "X") and did so when he made a presentment of the "customs of the Manor" in 1550. These were yearly rents paid to the Lord of the Manor by the class of "freemen" who ran their own estates and helped the local lord only in very busy times. The local lord at John's birth until 1521 was Edward Stafford, 3rd Duke of Buckingham. From 1521-1554, the lands were held by the Crown (the Tudors: Henry VIII, then Edward VI and Mary I). After that, the lands went back to the Staffords until 1637 when it went to the Howards when Mary Stafford married Sir William Howard. Why? you ask, did old John have to pay rent when his Saxon relatives got there first and were probably among the landholding elite? Answer: William the Conqueror came bounding across the English Channel from Normandy, France in 1066 and beat up Harold, King of the Saxons, plus others in England. The Saxons (old John's gang) was one tribe William conquered. William kicked off all landowners and gave their lands to his buddies. His "knights" became the landholding gentry or "barons." And, being a greedy guy, William wanted to know, right down to the last chicken, how many goodies he had a right to. In 1085 he sent his emissaries to all the shires in England and the resultant figures are all down in the Domesday Book, the greatest public record of Medieval Europe. This book is on display at the Public Record Office in London today. Nearly 300 years after William the Conqueror, there is written evidence that the Thornbury lands were granted to the Tayer family in 1325. This, presumably, was from the local Lord who was Margaret de Clare who married Hugh de Audley. It was this couple's daughter, Margaret, who married Ralph Stafford which started the long reign of the Staffords at Thornbury Manor. Why some of the lands were given to the Tayers, we shall never know, but for which we will ever be grateful. Anyway, old John we know was educated and one step below a Baron. He was a "freeman" and he and his wife, Constance (or Johanna) ________ had three sons: John, Thomas and William. John Jr. lived on at Thornbury, Thomas must have moved elsewhere and William died either unmarried and/or without children. It seems old John and his son, William, died the same day--February 11, 1562 or 1563. Why, we don't know. Anyway, John Jr. became the landholder. And so closes our saga of old John and the Saxon Connection. Somerset, England MARY ANN BROWN (FAIRSTED) was born about 1451 of Thornbury, Gloucestershire, England, to Humphrey De Fairsted (1431-1498) and Lady Unknown (1431-1481.) She married Reverend John Thayer about 1470, of Shadoxhurst, Kent, England. Mary Ann Brown passed away about 1546 of Thornbury, Devonshire, England, age 95. - Birth: ABT 105 BC, Rome, Roman Republic
- LifeSketch: Marcus Junius Brutus (died 77 BC) was a tribune of the Roman Republic in 83 BC[1] and the founder of the colony in Capua.[2] He was an associate of Marcus Aemilius Lepidus, who led a revolt against the senate after the death of Sulla. He was captured by Pompey and treacherously executed.[3] He was the father of his homonymous son, who assassinated Julius Caesar in 44.[4] Power struggle and death In 78 BC, Brutus was stationed as a commander in Cisalpine Gaul.[4] He was allied with Marcus Aemilius Lepidus, who as consul was agitating against Sulla's constitutional settlement and opposed a state funeral for the dictator after his death.[5] He also "took up the cause of those who had lost their civil or political rights under Sulla's reforms".[4] Lepidus turned to violence and raised an army against his consular colleague Quintus Lutatius Catulus when Catulus successfully blocked constitutional reform.[5] Lepidus' army was defeated outside of Rome. Brutus took his own forces to Mutina, where he defended the stronghold against Pompey, who had been sent by the senate to dislodge him.[6] He withstood Pompey's attacks for some time, but was eventually surrendered – his troops either turned on him or he surrendered of his own accord – after which he was allowed to retire to the town of Regium Lepidi[citation needed], where he was murdered by Pompey's close ally Geminius. According to Plutarch, 'For Brutus, whether he himself betrayed his army, or whether his army changed sides and betrayed him, put himself in the hands of Pompey, and receiving an escort of horsemen, retired to a little town upon the Po. Here, after a single day had passed, he was slain by Geminius, who was sent by Pompey to do the deed.'[7] Pompey forwarded to Rome the news of his surrender and execution. The senate blamed Pompey for the perfidious act.[8][9][10] John Leach in his biography of Pompey defends his subject by arguing that Brutus "presumably began to whip up further support for Lepidus (the name of the town suggests that there were hereditary clients of his there)" and so Pompey was "forced" to send Geminius to Regium Lepidi to recapture and execute him.[11][verification needed] Brutus is quoted by Cicero, who says he was well skilled in public and private law.[12] Family He was the first husband to Servilia, the elder half-sister of Cato the Younger. His son by Servilia is the Marcus Junius Brutus who was one of the chief assassins of Julius Caesar.

The battle, on an inland plain in eastern Macedonia near the city of Philippi, would involve the largest Roman armies to ever take the field and, as 36 legions clashed, the bloody outcome would decide the future of the Roman Empire and finally bring to an end the 500-year old Roman Republic., 42 BC, Philippi, Macedonia, Greece

Junius Brutus and Servilia Marcus Junius Brutus (/ˈbruːtəs/; c. 85 BC[a] – 23 October 42 BC), often referred to simply as Brutus, was a Roman politician, orator,[1] and the most famous of the assassins of Julius Caesar. After being adopted by an uncle, he used the name Quintus Servilius Caepio Brutus, which was retained as his legal name.[2][3] Early in his political career, Brutus opposed Pompey,[4] who had killed his father.[5] He also was close to general Julius Caesar. However, Caesar's attempts to evade accountability in the law courts put him at greater odds with his opponents in the Roman elite and the senate.[6] Brutus eventually came to oppose Caesar and sided with Pompey against Caesar's forces during the ensuing civil war (49–45 BC). Pompey was defeated at the Battle of Pharsalus in 48, after which Brutus surrendered to Caesar, who granted him amnesty.[7] With Caesar's increasingly monarchical and autocratic behaviour after the civil war, several senators who later called themselves liberatores (Liberators), plotted to assassinate him. Brutus took a leading role in the assassination, which was carried out successfully on the Ides of March (15 March) of 44 BC.[8][9] In a settlement between the liberatores and the Caesarians, an amnesty was granted to the assassins while Caesar's acts were upheld for two years.[10] Popular unrest forced Brutus and his brother-in-law, fellow assassin Gaius Cassius Longinus, to leave Rome in April 44.[11] After a complex political realignment, Octavian – Caesar's adoptive son – made himself consul and, with his colleague, passed a law retroactively making Brutus and the other conspirators murderers.[12] This led to a second civil war, in which Antony and Octavian fought the liberatores led by Brutus and Cassius. The Caesarians decisively defeated the outnumbered armies of Brutus and Cassius at the two battles at Philippi in October 42.[13] After the defeat, Brutus committed suicide.[14]53 Chronology 85 BC: Brutus was born in Rome to Marcus Junius Brutus The Elder and Servilia. 58 BC: Served as assistant to Cato, governor of Cyprus, which helped him start his political career.[5] 54 BC: Marriage to Claudia (daughter of Appius Claudius Pulcher). 53 BC: Quaestorship in Cilicia with Appius Claudius Pulcher as governor. 52 BC: Brutus opposes Pompey and defends Milo after Clodius' death.[7] 49 BC: Civil war between Pompey and Caesar starts in January. Brutus serves as legate to Publius Sestius in Cilicia, then joins Pompey in Greece in late 49.[7] 48 BC: Pompey loses at Pharsalus on 9 August; Brutus was pardoned by Caesar.[7] 46 BC: Caesar made him governor of Cisalpine Gaul; Caesar defeats Pompeian remnant at Thapsus in April.[7] 45 BC: Caesar appointed him urban praetor for the next year, 44. 44 BC: Caesar takes title of dictator perpetuo.[7] Killed Caesar with other liberatores; left Italy in late August for Athens and thence to Macedonia.[102] 42 BC, Jan: Successfully campaigns in southern Asia minor.[109] 42 BC, Sep–Oct: Battle with the triumvirs' forces and suicide.[130]

- LifeSketch: Saint Nectan, sometimes styled Saint Nectan of Hartland, was a 5th-century holy man who lived in Stoke, Hartland, in the English county of Devon, where the prominent St Nectan's Church, Hartland is dedicated to him. A "Life of Nectan", along with an account of the finding of his body and a collection of miracle stories, can be found in a 14th-century manuscript now in Gotha. The "Life" has been dated to the end of the 12th century. Its account holds that Nectan was born in Ireland but moved to Wales when he was young in 423 AD, the eldest of the 24 children of King Brychan of Brycheiniog (now Brecknock in Wales). Nectan heard of the great hermit of the Egyptian desert, St Anthony, and was inspired to imitate his way of life. Seeking greater solitude, Nectan and his companions left Wales, intending to settle wherever their boat happened to land. Nectan and his companions wound up on the northern coast of Devon at Hartland, where they lived for several years in a dense forest. The saint’s family would visit him there on the last day of the year. Later, he relocated to a remote valley with a spring. At Hartland, Nectan lived in the solitude of a remote valley where he helped a swineherd recover his lost pigs and in turn was given a gift of two cows. Nectan's cows were stolen and after finding them he attempted to convert the robbers to the Christian faith. In return he was attacked by robbers who cut off his head. The same authority says that he picked his head up and walked back to his well before collapsing and dying. Seeing this, the man who killed St Nectan went out of his mind, but the other thief buried him. From that time, miracles began to take place at St Nectan’s tomb. Tradition also says that wherever Nectan's blood fell, foxgloves grew. Nectan is also associated with St Nectan's Glen and Waterfall at Trethevy, near Tintagel, in Cornwall, where it is claimed he spent some time as a hermit. Nectan is believed to have sited his hermitage above the waterfall. According to legend, he rang a silver bell in times of stormy weather to warn shipping of the perils of the rocks at the mouth of the Rocky Valley. Nectan is also said to have appeared in 937, on the eve of the Battle of Brunanburh. A young man from Hartland felt himself afflicted with the plague called upon God and St Nectan to help him. Nectan appeared to the young man just after midnight and touched the afflicted area of his body, healing him. When King Athelstan heard of this, asked for more information about St Nectan. The young man urged the king to have faith in St Nectan with faith, and he would be victorious. After the battle, Athelstan visited Hartland and donated property to the saint’s church. After Nectan's death, a considerable cult grew up around his shrine and this continued to be popular throughout the Middle Ages, supported both by Saxon kings and Norman lords. Lyfing, Bishop of Crediton, approved the translation of his body as an accomplished fact, providing bells, lead for the roof, and a sculptured reliquary for the church. Furthermore, Nectan's staff was decorated with gold, silver and jewels. Manors were given to the church to endow it against pirates. The church and shrine were restored and in the possession of the Augustinian secular canons from the adjoining Hartland Abbey from the 12th century until such monastic orders were disestablished during the Reformation. A number of other churches in Devon are dedicated to St Nectan, but only two ancient ones: Welcombe, just south of Hartland, and probably originally Ashton (now St John the Baptist). There is also a medieval chapel of Saint Nectan near St Winnow in Cornwall as well as a church dedicated to St Nectan in the village of Ashcombe in Devon. Nectan's feast day is 17 June, the supposed day of his death (traditionally around 510), which was kept in Launceston, Exeter and Wells; there is still a tradition of taking foxgloves to his well on that day. Other dates include the 18 May, 14 February and 4 December (the date of his translation). Patronage : Nectan is the patron saint of Hartland, Devon
