- LifeSketch: Afranius Hannibalianus (fl. 3rd century) was the consul of 292 CE, a praetorian prefect, a senator and a military officer and commander. Believed to belong to a family who originated from the eastern provinces of the Roman empire, Hannibalianus was a military commander who served under the emperor Probus (r. 276-282). A member of the Equestrian order (as noted by the official reference to him as a vir eminentissimus, which was reserved for the equestrian order),[1] he probably was only adlected to the senatorial order after the death of Probus in AD 282.[2] He was elevated to the rank of Praetorian prefect of the west in AD 286 under Maximian, and had led the imperial armies to victory over the Germanic tribes along the Rhine in that year.[3] Hannibalianus held this rank until probably AD 292, when he was appointed consul prior alongside Julius Asclepiodotus. Then from AD 297-298, he served as the Praefectus urbi of Rome. Hannibalianus was possibly married to Eutropia, who divorced him to marry the emperor Maximian in around AD 287, but this has been contested.[4] If so, they had one daughter, Flavia Maximiana Theodora, who married the future emperor Constantius Chlorus.[5] It has been speculated that Hannibalianus’ acceptance of his wife’s new marriage as well as his position as step-father to the Caesar Constantius accounted for his rapid rise through the administrative offices of the empire.[6]

- Father: Harald GRANRAUDE
- Birth: Adger, Norway
- Killed her husband: had her servant / page-boy kill Gudrød the Hunter
- Title Of Nobility: Ruler of Agder
- LifeSketch: Åsa Haraldsdottir of Agder (died c. 834?) was a semi-legendary Norwegian Viking Age queen regnant of the petty kingdom of Agder. According to sagas referencing the clan Yngling (Ynglingaätten), she was the mother of Halfdan the Black (Halvdan Svarte) and grandmother of King Harald Fairhair (Harald Hårfagre). Åsa was the daughter of King Harald Granraude of Agder and a reputed woman. King Gudrød the Hunter (Gudrød Veidekonge) of Borre in Vestfold proposed marriage to her after the death of his first wife, but her father refused the marriage. Gudrød Veidekonge then killed her father and her brother, abducted her and married her. One year later, she became the mother of Halfdan the Black. One year after this, Åsa took her revenge and had her servant kill her husband. She left the kingdom of Borre to her stepson Olaf Geirstad-Alf and took her own son with her to the kingdom of Agder, her birth country, where she took power. Åsa ruled Agder for twenty years, and after this she left the throne to her son, Halfdan. He also demanded half of his father's kingdom from his half-brother. There are theories that queen Åsa was the woman buried with the famous Oseberg ship shortly after 834 AD, but this has not been confirmed. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%85sa_Haraldsdottir_of_Agder

- Also known as: Halfdan "Long Leg"
- LifeSketch: Halfdan Long-Leg (Old Norse: Hálfdan háleggur, Norwegian: Halvdan Hålegg) was a Viking-Age warrior who lived in the latter half of the 9th century. He was the son of King Harald Fairhair and a Sami woman named Snæfrithr Svásadottir. Snorri Sturluson in Heimskringla states that Halfdan was one of Harald's many sons who were involved in a power struggle with one another. Harald Fairhair had pushed Halfdan and his brothers away after the death of their mother. Halfdan and his brother Gudrød Ljome were responsible for murdering Rognvald Eysteinsson and 60 of his men by burning them inside a structure in an attempt to claim his lands. Upon learning of this event, Harald flew into a rage and sent out a great force against Gudrød who was put under Harald's personal observance. Rognvald's son Torf-Einarr performed the Blood eagle ritual on Halfdan in retaliation after a battle. Harald made Rognvald's son Thorirm Earl of Møre and gave his daughter Alof to him in marriage. https://fmg.ac/Projects/MedLands/NORWAY.htm#_ftnref90 https://fmg.ac/Projects/MedLands/NORWAY.htm#_Toc360005217 Blood eagle ritual - is a ritual method of execution, detailed in late skaldic poetry. According to the two instances mentioned in the Sagas, the victims were placed in a prone position, their ribs severed from the spine with a sharp tool, and their lungs pulled through the opening to create a pair of "wings". There is continuing debate about whether the rite was a literary invention, a mistranslation of the original texts, or an authentic historic practice.

- Father: Harald HALVDANSSON
- Mother: Åsa HÅKONSDATTER
- Title Of Nobility: King in the land from Glommen to Svinasund and Ranrike
- LifeSketch: Guttorm Haraldsson was the first son of King Harald Fairhair of Norway and Åsa, daughter of Håkon Grjotgardsson, who was the first Earl of Lade. Harald had wrested Rånrike in Viken from the Swedish King Erik Eymundsson. Harald made Guttorm king over Rånrike and gave him the responsibility of defending southeast Norway from Sweden. Guttorm fell in a sea battle against the sea-king Solve Huntiofsson (Solve Klove), son of Huntiof, King of Nordmøre. Solve Klove had earlier escaped capture at the First battle of Solskjel (ca. 870) in which both King Huntiof and King Nokkve of Romsdal had been slain. _________________________________________________ GUTTORM (-killed in battle after 915). Snorre names "the eldest Guthorm, Halfdan "the Black" and Halfdan "the White"…twins and Sigfrod…fourth" as the four sons of King Harald and his wife Asa. He was named after, and brought up by, "Guthorm the Duke" who ruled Viken and the Uplands in the king's absence. After the death of Guthorm's fosterfather at Tunsberg, King Harald installed his son Guthorm as chief in his place. In his father's division of territories, he was confirmed as king in the land from Glommen to Svinasund and Ranrike. He was killed by Solve "Klofe" while defending Viken against attack, dated from the chronology of the passages to after his father's division of his territories.

- Father: Harald HALVDANSSON
- Mother: Thora MOSTERSTANG
- Birth: ABT 920, Håkonshella, Hordaland, Norway
- Also known as: Haakon Adalsteinfostre
- Title Of Nobility: King of Norway
- Clan Name: House of Fairhair
- Haakon was fostered by King Athelstan: King Harald sent him to the court of King Athelstan of England for protection
- LifeSketch: Haakon Haraldsson (c. 920–961), also Haakon the Good (Hákon góði, Håkon den gode) and Haakon Adalsteinfostre, was the king of Norway from 934 to 961. He was noted for his attempts to introduce Christianity into Norway. According to this late saga tradition, Haakon was the youngest son of King Harald Fairhair and Thora Mosterstang. He was born on the Håkonshella peninsula in Hordaland. King Harald determined to remove his youngest son out of harm's way and accordingly sent him to the court of King Athelstan of England. Haakon was fostered by King Athelstan, as part of an agreement made by his father, for which reason Haakon was nicknamed Adalsteinfostre. According to Norwegian royal biographies from the late 12th century, the English court introduced him to the Christian religion. On the news of his father's death, King Athelstan provided Haakon with ships and men for an expedition against his half-brother Eric Bloodaxe, who had been proclaimed king of Norway. Historia Norwegiæ describes Haakon as an apostate who observed both pagan and Christian rites. At his arrival back in Norway, Haakon gained the support of the landowners by promising to give up the rights of taxation claimed by his father over inherited real property. Eric Bloodaxe soon found himself deserted on all sides, and saved his own and his family's lives by fleeing from the country. Eric fled to the Orkney Islands and later to the Kingdom of Jorvik, eventually meeting a violent death at Stainmore, Westmorland, in 954 along with his son, Haeric. In 953, Haakon had to fight a fierce battle (Slaget på Blodeheia ved Avaldsnes) at Avaldsnes against the sons of Eric Bloodaxe (Eirikssønnene). Haakon won the battle, at which Eric's son Guttorm died. One of Haakon's most famous victories was the Battle of Rastarkalv (Slaget på Rastarkalv) near Frei in 955 at which Eric's son, Gamle, died. By placing ten standards far apart along a low ridge, he gave the impression that his army was bigger than it actually was. He managed to fool Eric’s sons into believing that they were out-numbered. The Danes fled and were slaughtered by Haakon’s army. The sons of Eric returned in 957, with support from King Gorm the Old, King of Denmark, but were again defeated by Haakon's effective army system. Three of the surviving sons of Eric Bloodaxe landed undetected on the coast of Hordaland in 961 and surprised the king at his residence in Fitjar. Haakon was mortally wounded at the Battle of Fitjar (Slaget ved Fitjar) after a final victory over Eric’s sons. The King’s arm was pierced by an arrow and he died later from his wounds. He was buried in the burial mound (Håkonshaugen) in the village of Seim in Lindås municipality in the county of Hordaland. Upon his death his court poet, Eyvindr Skáldaspillir, composed a skaldic poem Hákonarmál about the fall of the King in battle and his reception into Valhalla. After Haakon's death, Harald Greycloak, the eldest surviving son of Eric Bloodaxe, ascended the throne as King Harald II, although he had little authority outside western Norway. Subsequently, the Norwegians were tormented by years of war. In 970, King Harald was tricked into coming to Denmark and killed in a plot planned by Haakon Sigurdsson, who had become an ally of King Harald Bluetooth. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haakon_the_Good https://no.wikipedia.org/wiki/H%C3%A5kon_I_den_gode_Adalsteinsfostre https://nn.wikipedia.org/wiki/H%C3%A5kon_I_av_Noreg

- Father: Harald HALVDANSSON
- Mother: Svanhild EYSTEINSDOTTER
- Birth: ABT 895, Norway
- Also known as: Bjørn Haraldsson
- Also known as: Bjørn Farmand
- Title Of Nobility: King of Vestfold
- LifeSketch: "Bjørn Farmann (or Bjørn Farmand, Bjørn the Tradesman, or Bjørn Haraldsson) was a king of Vestfold. Bjørn was one of the sons of King Harald Fairhair of Norway." Bjørn Farmann was one of the sons born of Harald Fairhair with Svanhild, daughter of Eystein Earl. When Harald Fairhair died, his kingdom was divided up between his sons. Bjørn Farmann became the king of Vestfold, the county west of the Oslofjord, and is considered as the founder of Tønsberg. Bjørn Farmann spent most of his time at the court at Sæheimr located near Sem, Norway. Erik Bloodaxe (Old Norse: Eiríkr blóðøx, Norwegian: Eirik Blodøks) was the eldest son of Harald Fairhair and became the second king of Norway (930–934). Once the power was in his hands, Erik Bloodaxe began to quarrel with his other brothers and had four of them killed, including Bjørn Farmann. Bjørn was killed by Eirik Bloodaxe in a feud around 930–934 AD at Sæheimr. Later in battle at Tønsberg, Erik Bloodaxe killed Olaf Haraldsson Geirstadalf, king of Vingulmark and later also of Vestfold together with Sigrød Haraldsson, king of Trondheim. Bjørn Farmann was reportedly killed by his brother King Eirik Bloodaxe at the Sæheimr estate. He is said to be buried in Farmannshaugen (from the Old Norse word haugr meaning burial mound), outside Tønsberg about 3 km east of the village of Sem, close to the manor of the Jarlsberg family. Farmannhaugen is visible from route 312. Farmannhaugen was archaeologically investigated during 1917. Snorri Sturluson tells this of Bjørn, in an extract from Heimskringla, Harald Harfager's Saga: King Harald and Svanhild's son Bjorn, who went by the name Bjorn Farmann, ruled over Vestfold at that time, and generally lived at Tunsberg, and went but little on war expeditions. Tunsberg at that time was much frequented by merchant vessels, both from Viken and the north country, and also from the south, from Denmark, and Saxland. King Bjorn had also merchant ships on voyages to other lands, by which he procured for himself costly articles, and such things as he thought needful; and therefore his brothers called him Farman (the Seaman), and Kaupman (the Chapman). Bjorn was a man of sense and understanding, and promised to become a good ruler. He made a good and suitable marriage, and had a son by his wife, who was named Gudrød Bjørnsson. Eirik Blood-axe came from his Baltic cruise with ships of war, and a great force, and required his brother Bjorn to deliver to him King Harald's share of the scat and incomes of Vestfold. But it had always been the custom before, that Bjorn himself either delivered the money into the king's hands, or sent men of his own with it; and therefore he would continue with the old custom, and would not deliver the money. Eirik again wanted provisions, tents, and liquor. The brothers quarrelled about this; but Eirik got nothing and left the town. Bjorn went also out of the town towards evening up to Saeheim. In the night Eirik came back after Bjorn, and came to Saeheim just as Bjorn and his men were seated at table drinking. Eirik surrounded the house in which they were; but Bjorn with his men went out and fought. Bjorn, and many men with him, fell. Eirik, on the other hand, got a great booty, and proceeded northwards. But this work was taken very ill by the people of Viken, and Eirik was much disliked for it; and the report went that King Olaf would avenge his brother Bjorn, whenever opportunity offered. King Bjorn lies in the mound of Farmanshaug at Saeheim. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bj%C3%B8rn_Farmann [NB: Information sourced from Wikipedia is subject to change by third-parties. - Birth: ABT 877, Agder, Norway
- Also known as: Olav Haraldsson Geirstadalf
- Also known as: Olaf Haraldsson Geirstadalf Digerbein
- Title Of Nobility: King of Vingulmark
- LifeSketch: Olaf Haraldssøn Geirstadalf Digerbein (Agder, c. 877 - Tønsberg, c. 934), was a reputed son of King Harald Fairhair of Norway with Svanhild Øysteinsdatter, daughter of Øystein Jarl. The saga Heimskringla, written in Iceland in the thirteenth century by the poet and historian Snorri Sturluson, gives the ninth century Norwegian founder king Harald Fairhair three sons with Svanhild, including Ragnar Rykkel, Bjørn Farmann and Olaf Haraldsson Geirstadalf. Bjørn Farmann became king of Vestfold. Olaf Haraldsson was made king of Vingulmark by his father and then later inherited Vestfold after his brother Bjørn Farmann had been killed by their half-brother Eric Blodøks. Eric was king Harald's favourite son and his appointed successor, but he was not very popular among his half-brothers. Upon his father's death, Olaf made himself king of eastern Norway, and allied himself against Eric Bloodaxe with another half-brother, Sigrød Haraldsson, king of Trondheim. The three kings met in battle at the farm Haugar outside Tønsberg, Olaf and Sigrød were defeated and they both fell there. Both are presumed to have been buried on the same spot. Haugar became the seat for Haugating and Norway's second most important place for the proclamation of kings. Today the site is located on the Jarlsberg Estate situated northwest of the centre of the town of Tønsberg. Heimskringla gives Olaf by his marriage a son named Tryggve Olafsson, who is there said to have become king of Rånrike and Vingulmark and to have been the father of King Olaf I of Norway. Historia Gruffydd ap Cynan, apparently influenced by 12th century claims of the viking kings of Ireland to an affiliation with the Norse rulers, contains a legendary or fictitious pedigree that makes Olaf the father of Sitric Cáech, king of Dublin and Northumbria, whose son Olaf Cuaran was ancestor of King Gruffydd ap Cynan of Gwynedd.

- Father: Ingram VOM HASPENGAU Graf im Haspengau
- Mother: Rotrude DE HESBAYE
- Birth: 28 MAY 778, France
- Occupation: Koningin der Franken; Queen of the Franks; Reina de Francia
- LifeSketch: Ermengarde or Irmingard of Hesbaye (c. 778 – 3 October 818), probably a member of the Robertian dynasty, was Carolingian empress from 813 and Queen of the Franks from 814 until her death as the wife of the Carolingian emperor Louis the Pious. Ermengarde was the daughter of Count Ingerman of Hesbaye and Rotrude. About 794 Ermengarde married Louis the Pious, son of Charlemagne, who since 781 ruled as a King of Aquitaine. He had already fathered two children, and Ermengarde may have been his concubine. Ermengarde gave birth to six children: . Lothair I (795–855), born in Altdorf, Bavaria . Pepin I of Aquitaine (797–838) . Adelaide, born c. 799 . Rotrude, born about 800, married Gerard, Count of Auvergne (c. 800 – d. 25 June 841) and they had Ranulf I of Poitiers. . Hildegard/Matilda, born c. 802, abbess of Notre-Dame in Laon . Louis the German (c. 805–876), King of East Francia Charlemagne initially intended to divide his Carolingian Empire between Louis and his brothers Pepin and Charles, who nevertheless died in quick succession in 810/11. On 10 September 813, Charlemagne designated Louis his successor and had him proclaimed co-emperor. Ermengarde's husband became sole emperor and king of the Franks upon his father's death on 28 January 814. The couple was anointed and crowned emperor and empress by Pope Stephen IV on 5 October 816 in Reims Cathedral. She died at Angers, Neustria (in present-day France) on 3 October 818. A few years after her death, her husband remarried to Judith of Bavaria, who bore him Charles the Bald. __________________________________________________ This is Irmingard von HAspengau. She is also known as Irmingard von HEspengau, and as Ermengarde de Hesbaye or Ermengarde of Hesbaye. She was born about 778 (https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ermengarde_de_Hesbaye), and died on 3 Oct 818 (https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irmingard_von_Hespengau). Her father was Ingram, also known as Ingerman. See https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ingram_(Franke) Do not confuse this person with Ermengarde of Tours, the daughter of Hugh of Tours and the wife of Lothair I (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ermengarde_of_Tours). Thank you.
