- Father: Abas OF ARGOS
- LifeSketch: Family Acrisius was the son of Abas and Aglaea[1] (or Ocalea, depending on the author), grandson of Lynceus, great-grandson of Danaus. He was the twin brother of Proetus and the half brother of Lyrcus.[2] Acrisius was father by Eurydice[3] or Aganippe[4][5] of Danae and thus grandfather of the hero Perseus through her. His other daughter was Evarete, wife of King Oenomaus of Pisa in Elis.[6] Mythology Rivalry of Twins Acrisius and Proetus was said to have quarreled even in the womb of their mother and when Abas died and Acrisius had grown up, he expelled Proetus from his inheritance. On his exile, Proetus was supported by his father-in-law Iobates, the Lycian, Proetus returned, and Acrisius was compelled to share his kingdom with his brother by giving Tiryns to him, while he retained Argos for himself. Death Disappointed by his lack of luck in having a son, Acrisius consults the Oracle at Delphi, who warns him that he will one day be killed by his daughter Danaë's son. Danaë is childless and to keep her so, he imprisons her in a bronze chamber open to the sky in the courtyard of his palace. Zeus impregnates her in the form of a golden shower (some accounts say it is her uncle, Proetus, who impregnates her).[7] Danaë becomes pregnant with Perseus. Acrisius puts the child and Danaë in a chest and throws it into the sea. Zeus asks Poseidon to calm the water; he does and Danaë and Perseus survive, washing up on the island of Seriphos. A fisherman named Dictys, brother of King Polydectes, finds the pair and takes care of them.[8][9][10] Perseus grows up to be a hero, killing Medusa and rescuing Andromeda. Perseus and Danaë return to Argos with Andromeda, but King Acrisius has gone to Larissa. When Perseus arrives in Larissa, he participates in funeral games and accidentally strikes Acrisius on the head with a discus, killing him and fulfilling the prophecy.[11] Founder of Delphic amphictyony According to the Scholiast on Euripides,[12] Acrisius was the founder of the Delphic amphictyony. Strabo believes that this amphictyony existed before the time of Acrisius,[13] and that he was only the first who regulated the affairs of the amphictyons, fixed the towns which were to take part in the council, gave to each its vote, and settled the jurisdiction of the amphictyons.[14] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acrisius

- Father: Scealdea Skjold Ben Heremod King of Troy ASGARD
- Mother: Scyld SCELDWA
- Birth: 10, Scandinavia, Europe
- Also known as: Beaw, Beau, Bjaf, Beowa, Bēow, Beo or Bedwig der Gothen
- LifeSketch: Beowa, Beaw, Bēow, Beo or Bedwig is a figure in Anglo-Saxon paganism associated with barley and agriculture. The figure is attested in the Anglo-Saxon royal genealogies as they were extended in the age of Alfred, where Beowa is inserted as the son of Scyld and the grandson of Sceafa, in lineages carried back to Adam. Connections have been proposed between the figure of Beowa and the hero Beowulf of the poem of the same name and English folk song figure John Barleycorn. Beoƿ is an Old English word for barley. In the Anglo-Saxon genealogies, Beoƿa is the son or grandson of Sceafa, the Old English word for sheaf. The noun beoƿ has an Old Norse parallel in Bygg, the word for "grain." Related comparisons have been made between the figure of Beoƿ and Byggvir, attested in the Prose Edda as a servant of the god Freyr. Some scholars posit a connection between the mythical figure of Beowa and the legendary Beowulf. As the two characters possess many of the same attributes, it has been suggested that "a god Beowa, whose existence in myth is certain, became confused or blended with Beowulf." Another possibility is that the (first) scribe responsible for the Beowulf text conflated two names. At the beginning of the poem, there is a character called Beowulf, the son of Scyld Scefing, but this character is not the Beowulf who is the protagonist of the poem. Rather than accepting that there are two different characters with this unusual name, many modern editions of the poem replace this name with "Beow". J. R. R. Tolkien, one of the proponents of reading "Beow" here, suggested that the use of "Beowulf" as Scyld Schefing's son was a scribal error for the original "Beow", noting that the two scribes who produced the Beowulf manuscript were "both extremely ignorant of and careless with proper names", and called the occurrence of "Beowulf" in this place in the manuscript "one of the oddest facts in Old English literature" and "one of the reddest and highest red herrings that were ever dragged across a literary trail". Kathleen Herbert draws a link between Beowa and the figure of John Barleycorn of traditional English folksong. Herbert says that Beowa and Barleycorn are one and the same, noting that the folksong details the suffering, death, and resurrection of Barleycorn, yet also celebrates the "reviving effects of drinking his blood." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beowa

þa war gutland so eluist at þet daghum sanc Oc natum war uppj.”

- Father: William III D'AUBIGNY
- Mother: Cicely BIGOD
- Birth: 1126, Belvoir, Leicestershire, Angleterre, Royaume-Uni
- Also known as: Ralph d'Aubeney
- Also known as: Ralph d' Albini Ralph d'Aubigny de Brito
- Also known as: Raoul d'Aubigny
- Also known as: Ralph d' Albini Ralph d'Aubigny de Brito
- Also known as: Raoul d'Aubigny
- Title Of Nobility: Knight of the Crusades
- LifeSketch: «b»Biography«/b» Ralph was not the son of William "Pincerna" d'Aubigne. Ralph was the son of Pincerna's brother-in-law (husband of Pincerna's wife's sister), William "Brito" d'Aubigne. Ralph de Albini, the 2nd son of William de Albini, Brito, obtained fifteen knights' fees from his brother William in the 12th of Henry II [1166] and, in the 28th of the same reign [1182], he gave 200 marks for license to marry Sibella de Valoines, widow of Robert, Baron Ross, of Hamlake and Werke, and had two sons, Philip, his heir, and Ralph. Ralph de Albini, who founded some religious houses, d. at Acre, in the Holy Land, in 1190, and was s. by Philip de Albini. According to a charter of Henry II, on one occasion at Bedford Castle Ralph threw a stone at the king. For this, he forfeited the possession of Didcot, Oxfordshire. Note: According to Magna Charta Sureties, the Sibyl who married Robert de Ros is a different person; that Sibyl married William de Percy as her 2nd husband. "By his wife Cecilia, and not Matilda, as Dugdale falsely conjectured, William d'Aubigné the first left issue William d'Aubigné the second, and Ralph, and Eudo, and Geoffrey, all witnesses to a charter with their father and mother made by Ralph de Raines and Walter and William his brothers, of four bovates of land in Stathorn in Leicestershire, to the priory of Bevoir, which they held of that honour. In 1168, we have a charter of William d'Aubigné the second, setting forth the knights enfeoffed of his barony, which his father had held and he after him, of whom the first named is Ralph d'Aubigné his brother, then tenant of fifteen knight's fiefs, and again this charter is proof that their mother had named Cecilia. "May all as well present as to come know that I Wiliam d'Aubigné, by the assent of William my son and heir, and of Matilda my wife, and Cecilia, my mother, and likewise of Ralph d'Aubigné, my brother, and my vassals, have granted and given to God and the church of St. Mary of Belvoir and to . . . " Ralph d'Aubigné was deceased prior to the sixth year of Richard the First, 1198, leaving Sibilla de Valognes surviving." "Ralph de Albini, the 2nd son of William de Albini, Brito, obtained fifteen knights' fees from his brother William in the 12th of Henry II [1166] and, in the 28th of the same reign [1182], he gave 200 marks for license to marry Sibella de Valoines, widow of Robert, Baron Ross, of Hamlake and Werke; they had two sons, Philip, his heir, and Ralph. Ralph de Albini, who founded religious houses, died at Acre, in the Holy Land, in 1192, and was succeeded by Philip d'Aubigny."
- Death: 1191, Acre, Northern, Israël

- LifeSketch: “Royal Ancestry: A Study in Colonial & Medieval Families,” Douglas Richardson (2013): “GERARD DE GOURNAY, of Caister, Norfolk, seigneur of Gournay-en-Brie, la Ferte-en-Brie, and Gaillefontaine, founder of Lessingham Priory, Norfolk, son and heir. He married before 1091 EDIVA (or EDEVA) DE WARENNE, daughter of William de Warenne, 1st Earl of Surrey, by Gundred, sister of Gerbod, Earl of Chester. Her maritagium included the manor of Mapledurham, Oxfordshire. They had one son, Hugh, and one daughter, Gundred (wife of Nele [or Nigel] de Mowbray). He and his father witnessed the foundation charter of Holy Trinity Caen in 1082 issued by King William the Conqueror. In 1090, he stood by King William Rufus against Duke Robert, and, on their reconciliation, his allegiance and castles in Normandy were transferred to Duke Robert. He and his mother confirmed all of his father's gifts to Bec Abbey. He accompanied Robert, Duke of Normandy, on a crusade in 1096, and was with Bohemond in the advance from Nice in Bythinia. At an unknown date, he gave Lessingham, Norfolk to Bec Abbey. GERARD DE GOURNAY was living in 1104, and is said to have died on a pilgrimage to Jerusalem. His widow, Ediva, married (2nd) DREW DE MOUCHY (living 1131), seigneur of Mouchy-le-Chatel, canton de Noailes (Oise). They had one son, Drew. Note: Gurney Rec. of the House of Gournay (): 286-289, 292-293, 776-777 [author alleges that Gerard de Gournay and his wife, Ediva, had a younger son, Walter de Gournay (living 1150), ancestor of the Gurnay family of Norfolk. Such an individual existed but he had no association in the records with the senior branch of the Gournay family. Rather, it appears that Walter was closely related to a Galiena de Gournay, born say 1120, living c. 1170, wife of Manasser de Dammartin (died 1178/9), of Mendlesham and Cotton, Suffolk, Norton Mandeville, Essex, etc. Surviving records show that Manasser de Dammartin enfeoffed Walter de Gumay with a 1/4 knight's fee in Suffolk during the Civil War between King Stephen and Empress Maud. In 1150 Walter de Gournay witnessed a charter to Missenden Abbey for Manasser and Galiena. Charter evidence proves that Galiena was the granddaughter of an unplaced William de Gumay, of Addington, Kent, whose gift to the see of Rochester she confirmed by her own undated charter. Given these facts, it is doubtful that Walter de Gournay was the son of Gerard de Gournay as alleged [see Hasted 4 (1798): 544-545; Copinger Manors of Suffolk 3 (1909): 277-278; Lewis C. "Nigel d'Aubigny" (downloaded 18 August 2018, dvmansur; see link in Sources): Nigel d'Aubigny (Nele d'Aubigny or Nigel de Albini, died 1129), was a Norman Lord and English baron who was the son of Roger d’Aubigny and Amice or Avice. His father was an avid supporter of Henry I of England, and his brother William d'Aubigny Pincerna was the king's Butler and father of the 1st Earl of Arundel. Nigel was born at Thirsk Castle in Thirsk, North Yorkshire, Kingdom of England. He was the founder of the noble House of Mowbray. Life He is described as "one of the most favoured of Henry’s 'new men'". While he entered the king's service as a household knight and brother of the king's butler, William d'Aubigny, in the years following the Battle of Tinchebrai in 1106 Nigel was rewarded by Henry with marriage to an heiress who brought him lordship in Normandy and with the lands of several men, primarily that of Robert de Stuteville. The Mowbray honour became one of the wealthiest estates in Norman England. From 1107 to about 1118, Nigel served as a royal official in Yorkshire and Northumberland. In the last decade of his life he was frequently traveling with Henry I, most likely as one of the king's trusted military and administrative advisors He died in Normandy, possibly at the abbey of Bec. Family He married twice. His first marriage was in 1107 to Matilda de L'Aigle, daughter of Richer, lord of L'Aigle, who had divorced the disgraced and imprisoned Robert de Mowbray, Earl of Northumbria [his older brother]. She brought to the marriage with Nigel her ex-husband's lordship of Montbray (Mowbray) in western Normandy. Following a decade of childless marriage and her powerful brother's death, Nigel divorced her and in 1118 remarried to Gundred de Gournay (died 1155), daughter of Gerard de Gournay. They had one son, Roger [who styled himself, Roger de Mowbray].

They appear for the first time in a written record in the Domesday survey, 1086. Through the marriage, the family acquired Warrington sometime after that. Richard Pincerna appears in the Domesday Survey as holding the manor of Pulton near Pulford in Cheshire. It reads "Richard Pincerna holds of the earl Poytone. Edwin held it, and was a free man." His name again appears, in the time of Hugh Lupus earl of Chester, as a witness to William Malbedeng's gift to St. Werburgh's. His name appears as "Pincernarius." In 1119, he also gave to St. Werburgh the church of St. Olave in Chester and two houses in the market-place of that city. Richard left two sons, Robert, his heir and William, who witnessed a charter of earl Hugh Lupus in 1093 and another charter of earl Randle Meschines to the city of Chester. ~Annals of the Lords of Warrington, pgs. 22-25

- Mother: Amicia of MONTBRAI
- Birth: 1062, Manche, Basse-Normandie (Région), France
- Christening: 1082, Saint Sauveur-Manche, Normandy, France, France
- Title Of Nobility: Earl of Northumbria
- LifeSketch: From Wikipedia, "Robert de Mowbray" (downloaded 18 August 2018, dvmansur; see link in Sources): Robert de Mowbray (died 1125), a Norman, was Earl of Northumbria from 1086, until 1095, when he was deposed for rebelling against William Rufus, King of England. He was the son of Roger de Mowbray and nephew of Geoffrey de Montbray, bishop of Coutances. The family name derives from Montbrai in Manche, Normandy, Mowbray being an Anglicisation of it. Earldom of Northumbria Robert was made Earl of Northumbria after Aubrey de Coucy, the previous earl decided that he no longer wished to remain in his post. Coucy was made earl in 1080 and, probably that same year, resigned his position and returned to Normandy losing all of the lands that he held in England. He was not replaced until Robert was appointed in 1086.[1] In 1088 Robert and his uncle, Geoffrey, sided with Robert, duke of Normandy, in the rebellion against William Rufus, and both were active militarily. The rebellion failed but the king subsequently pardoned them both, and Robert remained in his post as Earl of Northumbria.[1] In November 1093 Malcolm III of Scotland invaded Northumbria for the second time since 1091, and attacked Alnwick. Robert de Mowbray raised an army and attacked the Scots taking them by surprise on 13 November (St Brice’s Day). In the ensuing Battle of Alnwick, Malcolm and his son Edward were slain. Earlier that same year Geoffrey de Montbray died and Mowbray succeeded to his uncle's large estates, so becoming one of the most powerful barons in the kingdom.[1] In 1095 Mowbray married Matilda, daughter of Richer de l'Aigle, and niece of Hugh d'Avranches, 1st Earl of Chester.[2] Rebellion and downfall In 1095 Mowbray took part in a rebellion which had for its object the transference of the crown from the sons of the Conqueror to Stephen of Aumale. It appears that there was a conspiracy that included several barons, but that when the time came for action most of the conspirators abandoned the scheme leaving Mowbray and his fellow conspirator William of Eu exposed. The incident that brought the matter to a head was Mowbray seizing four Norwegian vessels lying in the Tyne. The merchants who owned the vessels complained to the king and Mowbray was commanded to attend the Curia Regis to explain his actions. Mowbray did not attend and ignored further summonses, so that William finally led an army against him. Mowbray shut himself up in his stronghold, Bamburgh Castle. William laid siege to Bamburgh and built a temporary siege castle alongside it, known as Malvoisin, or "evil neighbour". For some reason, during the siege, Mowbray left the castle with a small force of knights and was pursued by his besiegers, being forced to take refuge in Tynemouth. After a siege of six days he was wounded in the leg, captured and was taken back to Bamburgh where his wife was still resisting the besiegers. She finally surrendered the castle after the besiegers threatened to blind her husband.[1] Imprisonment and death As a result of his part in the rebellion Mowbray forfeited his estates and was imprisoned for life, initially at Windsor Castle. He spent many years in prisons, "growing old without offspring", according to the chronicler, Florence of Worcester, and then was allowed to become a monk at St Albans Abbey, according to another chronicler Orderic Vitalis. There is some doubt about the date of his death. On one hand it was claimed that he spent thirty years in prison, giving his date of death about 1125. However, William Dugdale claimed that Mowbray became a monk and died in 1106.[3] Mowbray’s fellow conspirators, William of Eu and William of Aldrie, received harsher punishment, William of Eu being castrated and blinded, and William of Aldrie being condemned to death. Legacy Orderic Vitalis gives the following description of Robert de Mowbray: "Powerful, rich, bold, fierce in war, haughty, he despised his equals and, swollen with vanity, disdained to obey his superiors. He was of great stature, strong, swarthy and hairy. Daring and crafty, stern and grim, he was given more to meditation than speech, and in conversation scarce ever smiled".[4] Mowbray's wife, Matilda, was granted an annulment of her marriage by Pope Paschal II and sometime after 1107, she became the wife of Robert's brother Nigel d'Aubigny, who was also granted the lands in Montbray forfeited by her former husband. The couple remained childless and in 1118 d’Aubigny divorced Matilda and married Gundred de Gournay, daughter of Gerard de Gournay and Edith de Warenne. They had a son, Roger, who inherited the estates originally forfeited by Robert Mowbray. On receiving his inheritance Roger changed his name to Mowbray at the instruction of Henry I. Thus the name Mowbray was continued, but with no blood line from Robert de Mowbray

- LifeSketch: William d'Aubigny (died 1139), sometimes William de Albini, was an Anglo-Norman baron and administrator who served successive kings of England and acquired large estates in Norfolk. From his title of Butler (pincerna in medieval Latin) to King Henry I of England, he was called William d'Aubigny Pincerna to distinguish him from other men of the same name. From a family originating in the village of Saint-Martin-d'Aubigny in Normandy and born before 1070, he was the eldest surviving son of Roger d'Aubigny and his wife Amice or Avice. His brother was Nigel d'Aubigny. Career Not mentioned as a landholder in the 1086 Domesday Book, he was associated with King William II of England by 1091 and in that decade is recorded as an important landholder in the county of Norfolk. His involvement in central government increased after 1100, when Henry I became king of England. In 1101 he was a witness to the treaty in which Robert II, Count of Flanders pledged military support to Henry and is named there as pincerna, evidence that he was one of the chief officers of the royal household. As part of the king's court, he travelled with him and spent about a quarter of his time in Normandy rather than England. By 1130 he was also a royal judge, hearing cases in Essex and in Lincolnshire. His Norfolk estates grew over the years, until in 1135 he had 22 knights holding lands in his barony there, and he also had lands in Kent. At Old Buckenham, the first castle was probably built in his time, as was the nave of Wymondham Priory, now part of the parish church, which he founded in 1107.[3] He was also a benefactor to his father-in-law's foundation of Thetford Priory and, in Normandy, to the Benedictine abbey of Lessay that his father had supported. When Stephen became king in 1135, William initially retained his place at court, but had died by June 1139, and was buried at Wymondham. Founder of Wymondham Priory William d'Aubigny, chief butler to King Henry I, founded the Priory of Wymondham in Norfolk, on or before 1107 A.D. The Priory of Wymondham was a subordinate cell to the Monastery of St. Alban's [St. Albans Abbey in Hertfordshire] at the time of its foundation. The Priory of Wymondham continued as a subordinate cell of St. Albans Abbey until the Priory of Wymondham was converted into an independent abbey in 1448 A.D. by a bull obtained from Pope Nicholas V. When William d'Aubigny founded the Priory of Wyondham, the Abbot of St. Alban's in Hertfordshire was Richard d'Aubigny, probably a close relation of William d'Aubigny. Richard d'Aubigny was Abbot of St. Alban's from 1097 A.D. until his death in 1119 A.D. Family He married Maud, daughter of Roger Bigod, and their son William became Earl of Arundel. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_d%27Aubigny_(died_1139) ................................................................................... Guillaume d'Aubigny was the son of Roger d'Aubigny and Amice de Mowbray. He migrated from the Côtentin to England. He married Maud le Bigod, daughter of Roger le Bigod and Alice de Tosny. He held the office of Lord of the Manor of Buckenham, Norfolk. He died in 1139. He was buried at Wymondham Priory, Norfolk, England.
