- Father: Louis II LE BÈGUE Roi des Francs
- Mother: Ansgarde de Bourgogne
- Birth: ABT 864, Paris, Île-de-France, France
- Also known as: Louis the Younger
- Title Of Nobility: king of West Francia
- LifeSketch: Louis III was the oldest son of Louis the Stammerer (Louis II) and his first wife Ansgarde of Burgundy. He was born in Aquitaine about 863/865, when his father was King of Aquitaine. His parents married secretly against the wishes of Charles the Bald and in 875, after 13 years of marriage Charles prevailed upon the Pope to annul the marriage. This put Louis and his siblings standing with in the kingdom and their inheritance at question. His father remarried in 875 to a bride picked by Charles the Bald. When Louis the Stammerer died in 879, Louis' 2nd wife was pregnant and gave birth to a son in September 879, Charles the Simple. This infant younger brother was declared the legitimate heir to the throne but was many years from being old enough to ascend the throne. Louis III and his younger brother Carloman II divided the kingdom between themselves and ruled jointly. Louis died in 882, without isssue, and Carolman ruled on his own. He also died without issue and eventually the throne went to their younger half brother Charles the Simple. Louis's reign was short but marked by military success, he was King of West Francia from 879 until 882. ---------------- “Royal Ancestry: A Study in Colonial & Medieval Families,” Douglas Richardson (2013): “LOUIS II the Stammerer, King of Neustria, 856, King of Aquitaine, 867, King of France, 877-879, son and heir by his father's 1st marriage, born 1 Nov. c.846. He married (1st) March 862 ANSGARDE, daughter of Count Harduin. They had two sons, Louis (III) [joint King of France] and Carloman [King of France], and three daughters, Hildegarde and Gisela (or Gisele) (wife of Robert, Count palatine of Troyes), and Ermentrude. She died after 2 Nov. 880, 881, or 882. He married (2nd) ADELAIDE, daughter of Count Adelard. They had one son, Charles (III) the Simple [King of France]. LOUIS II, King of France, died at Compiegne 10 April 879. His widow, AdelaIde, died 18 October, after 9 Nov. 901. Birch Cat. - Father: Marcus Antonius II CRETICUS Octavia
- Mother: Julia Antonia CAESARIA , Mother of Mark Antony
- Birth: ABT 78 BC, Rome, Roma, Lazio, Italy
- Title Of Nobility: Consul of Rome
- LifeSketch: Lucius Antonius (1st century BC) was the younger brother and supporter of Mark Antony, a Roman politician. He was nicknamed Pietas as a young man. Lucius was a son of Marcus Antonius Creticus, son of the rhetorician Marcus Antonius Orator executed by Gaius Marius' supporters in 86 BC, and Julia, a cousin of Julius Caesar. Together with his older brothers Mark Antony and Gaius Antonius, he spent his early years roaming through Rome in bad company. Plutarch refers to the untamed life of the youths and their friends, frequenting gambling houses and drinking too much. Lucius was always a strong supporter of Mark Antony. In 44 BC, the year of Antony's consulship and Julius Caesar's assassination, Lucius, as tribune of the plebs, brought forward a law authorizing Caesar to nominate the chief magistrates during his absence from Rome. After the murder of Caesar, he supported his brother Marcus. He proposed an agrarian law in favor of the people and Caesar's veterans and took part in the operations at Mutina (43 BC). In 41 BC, he was consul with Publius Servilius Vatia Isauricus as his senior partner. In this year, he assisted Mark Antony's wife, Fulvia, who was anxious to recall her husband from Cleopatra's court, in the raising of an eight legion army to fight against Octavian's unpopular policies. Later, observing the bitter feelings that had been evoked by the distribution of land among the veterans of Caesar, Antonius and Fulvia changed their attitude and stood forward as the defenders of those who had suffered from its operation. Antonius marched on Rome, drove out Lepidus, and promised the people that the triumvirate would be abolished. On the approach of Octavian, he retired to Perusia in Etruria, where he was besieged by three armies, and compelled to surrender in the winter of 41 BC. The city was destroyed but his life was spared, and he was sent by Octavian to Spain as governor. Nothing is known of the circumstances or date of his death. Cicero, in his Philippics, actuated in great measure by personal animosity, gives a highly unfavorable view of his character.

- LifeSketch: Wikipedia Commodus (/ˈkɒmədəs/;[4] 31 August 161 – 31 December 192) was Roman emperor jointly with his father Marcus Aurelius from 176 until his father's death in 180, and solely until 192. His reign is commonly considered to mark the end of the golden period of peace in the history of the Roman Empire known as the Pax Romana. Commodus accompanied his father during the Marcomannic Wars in 172 and on a tour of the Eastern provinces in 176. He was made the youngest consul in Roman history in 177 and elevated to co-augustus with his father, having been given the title imperator in 176. During his solo reign, the Empire enjoyed a period of reduced military conflict compared with the reign of Marcus Aurelius. But intrigues and conspiracies abounded, leading Commodus to an increasingly dictatorial style of leadership that culminated in a god-like personality cult, with his performing as a gladiator in the Colosseum. Throughout his reign he entrusted the management of affairs to his palace chamberlain and Praetorian prefects named Saoterus, Perennis, and Cleander. Commodus' assassination in 192 marked the end of the Nerva–Antonine dynasty. He was succeeded by Pertinax, the first emperor in the tumultuous Year of the Five Emperors. Commodus was born on 31 August AD 161 in Lanuvium, near Rome.[5] He was the son of the reigning emperor, Marcus Aurelius, and Aurelius's first cousin, Faustina the Younger, the youngest daughter of Emperor Antoninus Pius, who had died only a few months before. Commodus had an elder twin brother, Titus Aurelius Fulvus Antoninus, who died in 165. On 12 October 166, Commodus was made Caesar together with his younger brother, Marcus Annius Verus.[6][7] The latter died in 169 having failed to recover from an operation, which left Commodus as Marcus Aurelius's sole surviving son.[7] He was looked after by his father's physician, Galen,[8][9] who treated many of Commodus' common illnesses. Commodus received extensive tutoring by a multitude of teachers with a focus on intellectual education.[10] Among his teachers, Onesicrates, Antistius Capella, Titus Aius Sanctus, and Pitholaus are mentioned.[10][11] Commodus is known to have been at Carnuntum, the headquarters of Marcus Aurelius during the Marcomannic Wars, in 172. It was presumably there that, on 15 October 172, he was given the victory title Germanicus, in the presence of the army. The title suggests that Commodus was present at his father's victory over the Marcomanni. On 20 January 175, Commodus entered the College of Pontiffs, the starting point of a career in public life. In April 175, Avidius Cassius, Governor of Syria, declared himself Emperor following rumours that Marcus Aurelius had died. Having been accepted as Emperor by Syria, Judea and Egypt, Cassius carried on his rebellion even after it had become obvious that Marcus was still alive. During the preparations for the campaign against Cassius, Commodus assumed his toga virilis on the Danubian front on 7 July 175, thus formally entering adulthood. Cassius, however, was killed by one of his centurions before the campaign against him could begin. Commodus subsequently accompanied his father on a lengthy trip to the Eastern provinces, during which he visited Antioch. The Emperor and his son then traveled to Athens, where they were initiated into the Eleusinian mysteries. They then returned to Rome in the autumn of 176. Marcus Aurelius was the first emperor since Vespasian to have a legitimate biological son and, though he himself was the fifth in the line of the so-called Five Good Emperors, each of whom had adopted his successor, it seems to have been his firm intention that Commodus should be his heir. Commodus was the first (and until 337, the only) emperor "born in the purple," meaning during his father's reign.[citation needed] On 27 November 176, Marcus Aurelius granted Commodus the rank of Imperator and, in the middle of 177, the title Augustus, giving his son the same status as his own and formally sharing power. On 23 December 176, the two imperatores celebrated a joint triumph, and Commodus was given tribunician power. On 1 January 177, Commodus became consul for the first time, which made him, aged 15, the youngest consul in Roman history up to that time. He subsequently married Bruttia Crispina before accompanying his father to the Danubian front once more in 178. Marcus Aurelius died there on 17 March 180, leaving the 18-year-old Commodus sole emperor. On 31 December, Marcia poisoned Commodus' food but he vomited up the poison, so the conspirators sent his wrestling partner Narcissus to strangle him in his bath. Upon his death, the Senate declared him a public enemy (a de facto damnatio memoriae) and restored the original name of the city of Rome and its institutions. Statues of Commodus were demolished. His body was buried in the Mausoleum of Hadrian. Commodus' death marked the end of the Nerva–Antonine dynasty. Commodus was succeeded by Pertinax, whose reign was short-lived; he would become the first claimant to be usurped during the Year of the Five Emperors.

He was a member of the Nerva-Antonine dynasty. Verus' succession together with Marcus Aurelius marked the first time that the Roman Empire was ruled by multiple emperors, an increasingly common occurrence in the later history of the Empire. The eldest son of Lucius Aelius Caesar, first adopted son and heir to Hadrian, Verus was born and educated in Rome where he held several political offices prior to taking the throne. After his biological father's death in 138, he was adopted by Antoninus Pius, who was himself adopted by Hadrian. Hadrian died later that year, and Antoninus Pius succeeded to the throne. Antoninus Pius ruled until 161 and was succeeded by Lucius Verus and Marcus Aurelius. The majority of Verus's reign was occupied by his direction of the war with Parthia which ended in Roman victory and some territorial gains. After initial involvement in the Marcomannic Wars, he fell ill and died in 169. He was deified by the Roman Senate as the Divine Verus (Divus Verus). Born Lucius Ceionius Commodus on 15 December 130, Verus was the first-born son of Avidia and Lucius Aelius Caesar, the first adopted son and heir of Emperor Hadrian.[3] He was born and raised in Rome. Verus had another brother, Gaius Avidius Ceionius Commodus,[citation needed] and two sisters, Ceionia Fabia and Ceionia Plautia.[3] His maternal grandparents were the senator Gaius Avidius Nigrinus and the unattested noblewoman Plautia. Although Hadrian was his adoptive paternal grandfather, his biological paternal grandparents were the consul Lucius Ceionius Commodus and either Aelia or Fundania Plautia.[citation needed] When his father died in early 138, Hadrian chose Antoninus Pius (86–161) as his successor. Antoninus was adopted by Hadrian on the condition that Verus and Hadrian's great-nephew Marcus Aurelius be adopted by Antoninus as his sons and heirs.[citation needed] By this scheme, Verus, who was already Hadrian's adoptive grandson through his natural father, remained as such through his new father, Antoninus. The adoption of Marcus Aurelius was probably a suggestion of Antoninus himself, since Marcus was the nephew of Antoninus' wife.[citation needed] Immediately after Hadrian's death, Antoninus approached Marcus and requested that his marriage arrangements be amended: Marcus' betrothal to Ceionia Fabia would be annulled, and he would be betrothed to Faustina, Antoninus' daughter, instead. Faustina's betrothal to Ceionia's brother Lucius Commodus would also have to be annulled. Marcus consented to Antoninus' proposal.[4] As a prince and future emperor, Verus received careful education from the famous grammaticus Marcus Cornelius Fronto.[citation needed] He was reported to have been an excellent student, fond of writing poetry and delivering speeches. Verus started his political career as a quaestor in 153, became consul in 154, and in 161 was consul again with Marcus Aurelius as his senior partner.[citation needed]

- Father: Rorgon VON MAINE I
- Mother: Rotrude daughter of Karolus Magnus Rex Francorum Imperator ROMANORUM
- Birth: 800, Aachen, Austrasia
- LifeSketch: Louis (c. 800 – 867), a Frankish churchman and a member of the Carolingian royal family, was the Abbot of Saint-Denis from 841. Born around 800, Louis was the illegitimate son of Rotrude, daughter of Charlemagne, and Count Rorgon I of Maine. He was probably raised at the court of his grandfather, Charlemagne, until the latter's death in 814. From 835, he served his uncle, the Emperor Louis the Pious, Charlemagne's successor, as archchancellor. On Louis's death in June 840, he declared his allegiance to Charles the Bald and became his archchancellor. In September or October 840, Abbot Hilduin of Saint-Denis defected from Charles to Lothair I. Charles promised Louis, already a monk of Saint-Denis, that when the abbacy was back in his control he would bestow it on Louis. On 14 June 844, Richbod and Nithard, abbot and lay abbot respectively of Saint-Riquier, died in battle. Charles appointed Louis abbot of Saint-Riquier with Charles's uncle Rudolf as his lay counterpart. In 857, some Vikings from Jeufosse raided Saint-Denis and captured Louis. His half-brother, Gauzlin, the bishop of Paris, was also captured. Charles had to raise a large ransom, including a contribution of 688 lb of gold and 3250 lb of silver from Saint-Denis, to liberate the captives. Louis held the position of archchancellor until his death. He died in 867. On his death Charles named himself lay abbot and took direct control of the abbey.

- LifeSketch: Malcolm III, also Máel Coluim mac Donnchada and Malcolm Canmore, was King of Scots from 1058 to 1093. He was later nicknamed "Canmore" (Gaelic for "Great Chief"). Malcolm reigned 35 years. His kingdom did not extend over the full territory of modern Scotland: the north and west remained under Scandinavian rule. Malcolm III fought a series of wars against the Kingdom of England that did not result in any significant advances southward. Malcolm's primary achievement was to continue a lineage that ruled Scotland for many years, and as founder of a dynasty. Henry I of England and Eustace III of Boulogne were his sons-in-law, making him the maternal grandfather of Empress Matilda, William Adelin and Matilda of Boulogne. All three of them were prominent in English politics during the 12th century. In Scotland Malcolm fathered 4 kings: King Duncan II, King Edgar the Valiant, King Alexander I, and King David I. Malcolm's 2nd wife, St. Margaret of Scotland, is Scotland's only royal saint. Malcolm himself had no reputation for piety; He is not associated with major ecclesiastical reforms or religious establishments, with the notable exception of Dunfermline Abbey in Fife. Malcolm's father Duncan I became king in late 1034, on the death of Malcolm II, Duncan's maternal grandfather and Malcolm's great-grandfather. Malcolm's mother was named Sybil or Suthen. According to John of Fordun, whose account is the original source of William Shakespeare's Macbeth, Malcolm's mother was a niece of Siward, Earl of Northumbria, but an earlier king-list gives her the Gaelic name Suthen. Other sources claim that either a daughter or niece would have been too young to fit the timeline, thus she was likely Siward's own sister Sybil, which may have translated into Gaelic as Suthen. King Duncan was killed on 15 August 1040 in battle against Macbeth and the men of Moray. Malcolm and his brother Donalbane were young children and were sent away for greater safety—exactly where is the subject of debate. One version says Malcolm (aged about nine) was sent to England, and his younger brother Donalbane was sent to the Isles. Based on Fordun's account, it was assumed that Malcolm passed most of Macbeth's seventeen-year reign in the Kingdom of England at the court of Edward the Confessor. An alternative version says Malcolm's mother took both sons into exile at the court of Thorfinn Sigurdsson, Earl of Orkney, an enemy of Macbeth's family, and Malcolm's 1st cousin once removed. In 1045 Malcolm's family attempted to overthrow Macbeth and Malcolm's grandfather Crínán of Dunkeld was killed in the attempt. Macbeth died on 15 August 1057 at Lumphanan in Aberdeenshire, reportedly at Malcolm's hand, and was succeeded by his stepson Lulach. Lulach was killed by Malcolm on 23 April 1058 near Huntly "by treachery". Malcolm was inaugurated king 2 days later, on 25 April 1058. Orderic Vitalis says one of Malcolm's earliest actions as king was to travel to the court of Edward the Confessor in 1059 to arrange a marriage with Edward's kinswoman Margaret, who had arrived in England two years before from Hungary. If a marriage agreement was made in 1059, it was not kept, and this may explain the Scots invasion of Northumbria in 1061 when Lindisfarne was plundered. Instead Malcolm married Ingibiorg Finnsdottir, widow of Thorfinn Sigurdsson, Earl of Orkney, and daughter of Earl Finn Arnesson and Bergljot Halvdansdottir. Malcolm and Thorfinn were kinsmen, both decendants of Malcolm II, and it is believed Malcolm spent part or all of MacBeth's reign at Thorfinn's court, so Malcolm and Ingibiorg would have known each other for years. Additionally, there is some circumstantial evidence that Ingibiorg may have backed Malcolm's claim to the kingship. Malcolm's marriage to Ingibiorg secured him peace in the north and west, the Earldom of Orkney was ruled jointly by his stepsons, Paul and Erlend Thorfinnsson (who were also his 2nd cousins). Malcolm and Ingibiorg had three sons: - Duncan II of Scotland, succeeded his father as King of Scotland - Donald, died ca. 1094 - Malcolm, died ca. 1085 Ingibiorg is believed to have died around 1069, but possibly sooner. After her death Malcolm married a 2nd time to Margaret, daughter of Edward the Exile and his wife Agatha of Hungary. Margaret was born in Hungary and came to England with her parents in 1057. Her father was the son of King Edmund Ironside and was intended to succeed King Edward the Confessor. Unfortunately, he died within days of arriving in England. Margaret and her family lived with Edward the Confessor at the English court from 1057 until his death in 1066. After William the Conqueror took the throne of England the family fled and were shipwrecked in Scotland. There they found refuge with King Malcolm. Malcolm and Margaret married about 1069/1070. Together they had 8 children: - Edward (c. 1071 – 13 November 1093), killed along with his father in the Battle of Alnwick - Edmund of Scotland (c.1071 – post 1097) - Ethelred of Scotland, Abbot of Dunkeld, Perth and Kinross, Scotland - Edgar of Scotland (c.1074 – 11 January 1107), King of Scotland, reigned 1097–1107 - Alexander I of Scotland (c.1078 – 23 April 1124), King of Scotland, reigned 1107–24 - Edith of Scotland (c. 1080 – 1118), AKA "Matilda", married King Henry I of England, Queen Consort of England - Mary of Scotland (1082–1116), married Eustace III of Boulogne - David I of Scotland (c.1084 – 24 May 1153), King of Scotland, reigned 1124–53 Malcolm made several forays into England in an attempt to aid his brother in law Edgar regain the throne, but had no success. In 1072 William the Conqueror came north with a large army and a fleet. Malcolm met him at Abernethy and accepted the overlordship of the king of the English. Malcolm's oldest son Duncan was given over as a hostage to ensure peace. Malcolm also arranged peace between William and Edgar, his brother in law. Eventually William Rufus succeeded his father to become king of England, there were rebellion and skirmishes but Malcolm acknowledged William's overlordship. War erupted between Scotland and England in 1093. Malcolm and Edward, his oldest son by Margaret, visited his daughters and sister in law at Wilton Abbey. Afterward he attempted to negotiate with William Rufus who refused. Malcolm and Edward marched northward, ravaging as they went, and were ambushed near Alnwick on 13 November 1093. There Malcolm was killed in what became known as the Battle of Alnwick. Edward was mortally wounded as well and died 3 days later on November 16. Learning of the death of her husband and oldest son Queen Margaret died on November 16th reputedly of heartbreak. Malcolm was originally buried at Tynemouth Priory in England but was later disintered and reburied next to his wife at Dunfermline Abbey. Malcolm was succeeded as king of Scots by his oldest son Duncan II of Scotland ------------------------------------------------------------------- “Royal Ancestry: A Study in Colonial & Medieval Families,” Douglas Richardson (2013): “MALCOLM III (CEANNMORE), King of the Cumbrians, King of Scots, eldest son of Duncan I, King of Scots, by ___, cousin of Siward, Earl of Northumberland, born about 1031. He defeated and killed Macbeth, King of Scots at Lunfanan, Mar 15 August 1057. He became King of Scots on the defeat and death of Lulach 17 March 1057/8. He was crowned at Scone 25 April 1058. In 1061 he invaded England, and ravaged Northumberland and Lindisfarne. He married (1st) INGEBIORG (or INGIBJORG), widow of Earl Thorfin Sigurdson the Mighty, Earl of Orkney (died about 1064), and daughter of Earl Finn Arnason. They had three sons, Duncan [King of Scots], Malcolm, and Donald. His wife, Ingebiorg, died 17 Feb., year unknown. He married (2nd) at Dunfermline, Fife in 1068-9 [SAINT] MARGARET, daughter of Edward the Ætheling, by his wife, Agatha, kinswoman of Henry III, Holy Roman Emperor. They had six sons, Edward, Edmund [Prince of Cumbria, afterwards a monk], Ethelred [Earl of Fife, Abbot of Dunkeld], Edgar [King of Scots], Alexander [I] [King of Scots], and David [I] [King of Scots], and two daughters, Maud and Mary. He invaded England in the spring of 1069/70, and ravaged Teesdale, Cleveland, Holderness, and the country between the Tees and the Tyne. In 1072 King William the Conqueror invaded Scotland by land and sea, and King Malcolm gave hostages and became 'his man' about 15 August 1072. In 1072 he granted lands in Lothian to his kinsman, Gospatric, who was deprived of the earldom of Northumberland by King William the Conqueror. He and his wife, Margaret, granted Ballichristian to the Culdees of Lochleven. He expelled Malsnectai, mormaer of Moray in 1078. In 1079 he devasted Northumberland as far as the Tyne. He harried a great part of the north of England in 1091; he and King William II of England made peace in Sept. 1091. He was present at the laying of the foundation stone at Durham Cathedral 11 August 1093. In August 1093 he went to Gloucester, where King William II refused to receive him. At the beginning of November 1093 he invaded England again. MALCOLM III, King of Scots, was killed by Morel of Bamborough at Alnwick, Northumberland 13 Nov. 1093. He was initially buried at Tynemouth, but his son, King Alexander I, later removed his body to Dunfermline, Fife. His widow, Margaret, died at Edinburgh Castle 16 Nov. 1093, and was buried before the high altar in the church of the Holy Trinity at Dunfermline, Fife. She was canonized by Pope Innocent IV in 1250. Maldred Lord of Allerdale, known also as Maldred Mac Crínán, Maldred Fitz Crínán, 'Maldred brother of Duncan', and sometimes confusingly referred to as Malcolm. Maldred was the younger son of Crínán of Dunkeld, and Bethóc, daughter of King Máel Coluim mac Cináeda (Malcolm II). His older brother was Duncan I King of Scots who ruled from 1034 to 1040 and was famously killed in battle with MacBeth. He is also believed to have had a sister, unfortunately, her name is not known. Some sources claim Maldred's parentage is not known, however, Simeon of Durham clearly records him as 'the son of Crínán' and records his marriage to Ealdgyth, the daughter of Uchtred of Northumbria and Ælfgifu, daughter of King Æthelred the Unready. (see attached source) Maldred married Ealdgyth of Northumbria about 1036. Their known children are: - Gospatric, Earl of Northumbria - Maldred Scots Peerage identifies a possible 3rd son, Ulkil, who was identified as 'son of Maldred' when he witnessed charters of Gospatric, brother of Dolfin. This relationship is unproven. Maldred's brother the king died in battle in 1040 against MacBeth. In 1045, Crínán of Dunkeld rose in rebellion against Macbeth in support of Malcolm III's claim to the throne. Malcolm was Crinan's 14 year old grandson and Maldred's nephew. Both Crinan (Maldred's father) and Maldred himself are believed to have died in the battle of Scots against Scots. ---------------------------- Maldred, brother of Duncan I "The Gracious" King of Strathclyde 1018-34 and King of Scots 1034-40 (for Maldred's previous ancestry and a discussion as to what extent this may derive from Eochu Mugmedon, High King of Ireland in the mid 14th century, see American Presidential Families, pp.40-41 and 45-46, Morris Genealogical Books, SA, 1994); feudal Lord Allerdale; married Ealdgyth or Aldgyth, daughter of Uchtred, Ughtred, or Uhtred Earl of Northumberland or Northumbria by his 3rd wife Elgiva or Aelgifu, daughter of Ethelred II "The Unready" King of England 979-1013 and 1014-16, and was probably killed in battle 1045 when trying to avenge his brother's murder by Macbeth. [Burke's Peerage] --------------------------------------- Scots Peerage Volume 3 pages 240-241 Maldred, of Malcolm, the second son of Crinan, is believed to have become King of the Cumbrians when his elder brother succeeded as King of Scots. There is no direct proof of this, and Fordun states that Cumbria was in 1034 bestowed on Malcolm, afterwards Malcolm III, son of Duncan I. But he was only a child at that date, and it is more probable i was his uncle, the older Malcolm, who was made ruler of Cumbria. Certainly he is found closely linked to that district, which then included Strathclyde as well as Cumberland, by marriage relations and other ties. A recently discovered writ by his son Gospatric, to be referred to later, suggests that he may have possessed in his own right the Allerdale district of Cumberland. Little is known of Maldred's history, and his career was probably cut short in the same battle as that in which his father was slain, in 1045. He married Ealdgiith of Algitha, daughter of Uchtred, Earl of Northumberland, by his wife AElgifu or Elgiva, daughter of AEthelred II, King of England. They had issue: 1. Gospatric, Earl of Northumberland and first Earl of Dunbar, of whom hereafter. 2. Maldred, who is claimed as the ancestor of Robert Fitz Maldred, Lord of Raby in Durham, and through him of the Nevills, Earls of Westmoreland and Warwick, and other families of that name. He had apparently two sons, Robert and Uchtred. An Ulkil, son of Maldred, appears as a witness to charters by Cospatric, brother of Dolphin, before 1138. They may have been cousins.
