- Father: Æthelberht of KENT
- Mother: Bertha Queen of Kent
- Birth: 582, Kingdom of Kent, England
- Also known as: King of Kent Eadbald
- Achievements: Built Canterbury Cathedral, 603, Canterbury, England
- Eadbald becomes King of Kent: Eadbald's claim of overlordship over the East Seaxe is rejected by his three cousins who become joint kings there at the same time as Eadbald becomes king of the Cantware. The loss also means that the Middel Seaxe are removed from Kentish control. However, Eadbald is quickly converted to Christianity and takes a Frankish wife, and Kent remains a beleaguered bridgehead of the Roman world in England.
- Marriage to his stepmother: ...His death is, however, referred to in the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle[295]. Bede records the death in 640 of "Eadbald rex Cantuariorum"[296]. m firstly (repudiated [618]) as her second husband, his stepmother, ---, widow of ÆTHELBERHT King of Kent, daughter of --- (-after [618]). Her second marriage is confirmed by Bede who records that "filius eius Eadbald" succeeded as king after the death of "Aedilbercti", adding that he refused to embrace Christianity and was also "fornicatione pollutus" because he had "uxorem patris", adding in a later passage that her husband was persuaded to repudiate her when he was converted to Christianity[297]. m secondly (after [618]) EMMA of the Franks, daughter of [CHLOTHACHAR II King of the Franks & his first wife Adaltrudis].

Earcobeorht, King of Kent+1 d. 14 Jul 664 Eormenred (?)+1 Eanswith (?)3 Eadbald (Old English: Ēadbald) was King of Kent from 616 until his death in 640. He was the son of King Æthelberht and his wife Bertha, a daughter of the Merovingian king Charibert.[1] Æthelberht made Kent the dominant force in England during his reign and became the first Anglo-Saxon king to convert to Christianity from Anglo-Saxon paganism. Eadbald's accession was a significant setback for the growth of the church, since he retained his people's paganism and did not convert to Christianity for at least a year, and perhaps for as much as eight years. He was ultimately converted by either Laurentius or Justus, and separated from his first wife, who had been his stepmother, at the insistence of the church. Eadbald's second wife was Emma, who may have been a Frankish princess. She bore him two sons, Eormenred and Eorcenberht, and a daughter, Eanswith. Eadbald's influence was less than his father's, but Kent was powerful enough to be omitted from the list of kingdoms dominated by Edwin of Northumbria. Edwin's marriage to Eadbald's sister, Æthelburg, established a good relationship between Kent and Northumbria which appears to have continued into Oswald's reign. When Æthelburg fled to Kent on Edwin's death in about 633, she sent her children to Francia for safety, fearing the intrigues of both Eadbald and Oswald. The Kentish royal line made several strong diplomatic marriages over the succeeding years, including the marriage of Eanflæd, Eadbald's niece, to Oswiu, and of Eorcenberht to Seaxburh, daughter of King Anna of East Anglia. Eadbald died in 640 and was buried in the Church of St Mary, which he had built in the precincts of the monastery of St Peter and St Paul in Canterbury (a church later incorporated within the Norman edifice of St Augustine's).[1] At that time, his relics were translated for reburial in the south transept ca. A.D. 1087.[2] He was succeeded by Eorcenberht. Eormenred may have been his oldest son, but if he reigned at all it was only as a junior king. Early Kent and early sources The state of Anglo-Saxon England at about the time of Eadbald's birth Settlement of Kent by continental peoples, primarily Jutes, was complete by the end of the sixth century.[3] Eadbald's father, Æthelberht, probably came to the throne in about 589 or 590, though the chronology of his reign is very difficult to determine accurately.[4] Æthelberht was recorded by the early chronicler Bede as having overlordship, or imperium, over other Anglo-Saxon kingdoms.[5] This dominance led to wealth in the form of tribute, and Kent was a powerful kingdom at the time of Æthelberht's death in 616, with trade well-established with the European mainland.[6] Roman Britain had become fully Christianized, but the Anglo-Saxons retained their native faith. In 597 Augustine was sent by Pope Gregory I to England to convert them to Christianity. Augustine landed in eastern Kent, and soon managed to convert Æthelberht, who gave Augustine land in Canterbury. Two other rulers, Sæberht, king of Essex, and Rædwald, king of East Anglia, were converted through Æthelberht's influence.[7][8] An important source for this period in Kentish history is The Ecclesiastical History of the English People, written in 731 by Bede, a Benedictine monk from Northumbria. Bede was primarily interested in the Christianization of England, but he also provides substantial information about secular history, including the reigns of Æthelberht and Eadbald. One of Bede's correspondents was Albinus, abbot of the monastery of St. Peter and St. Paul (subsequently renamed St. Augustine's) in Canterbury. A series of related texts known as the Legend of St Mildrith provides additional information about events in the lives of Eadbald's children and throws some light on Eadbald himself. The Anglo-Saxon Chronicle, a collection of annals assembled in about 890 in the kingdom of Wessex, also provides information. Other sources include papal letters, regnal lists of the kings of Kent, and early charters. Charters were documents drawn up to record grants of land by kings to their followers or to the church, and they provide some of the earliest documentary sources in England. None survive in original form from Eadbald's reign, but some later copies exist.[9] Ancestry and immediate family Eadbald's ancestry and siblings The ancestry of Æthelberht, Eadbald's father, is given by Bede, who states that he was descended from the legendary founder of Kent, Hengist. However, historians believe that Hengist and his brother Horsa were probably mythical figures.[10] It is known that Æthelberht married twice as Eadbald married his step-mother after his father's death, to the consternation of the church.[11] Eadbald had a sister, Æthelburg, who was probably also the child of Bertha. Æthelburg married Edwin, King of Northumbria, one of the dominant Anglo-Saxon kings of the seventh century. It is possible that there was another brother, named Æthelwald:[12] the evidence for this is a papal letter to Justus, archbishop of Canterbury from 619 to 625, in which a king named Aduluald is referred to, and who is apparently different from Audubald, which refers to Eadbald. There is no agreement among modern scholars on how to interpret this: "Aduluald" might be intended as a representation of "Æthelwald", and hence this may be an indication of another king, perhaps a subking of west Kent;[13] or it may be merely a scribal error which should be read as referring to Eadbald.[14] Archbishop Laurence of Canterbury persuaded Eadbald to accept Christianity and give up his wife.[1] He then remarried, and his second wife, according to Kentish tradition recorded in the 'Kentish Royal Legend', was a woman named Ymme of Frankish royal blood, though recently it has been suggested that she may have instead been the daughter of Erchinoald, mayor of the palace in Neustria, the western part of Francia.[15][16] East and West Kent The surviving regnal lists show only one king reigning at a time in Kent, but subkingdoms were common among the Anglo-Saxons and from the reign of Hlothhere, in the late seventh century, there is evidence that Kent was usually ruled by two kings, though often one is clearly dominant. It is less clear that this is the case before Hlothhere. Forged charters preserve a tradition of Eadbald ruling during his father's reign, presumably as a subking over west Kent. The papal letter that has been interpreted as indicating the existence of Æthelwald, a brother of Eadbald's, refers to Æthelwald as a king; if he existed, he would presumably have been a junior king to Eadbald.[13] The two kingdoms within Kent were east and west Kent. Western Kent has fewer archaeological finds from the earliest periods than east Kent, and the eastern finds are somewhat distinct in character, showing Jutish and Frankish influence. The archaeological evidence, combined with the known political division into two kingdoms, makes it likely that the origin of the subkingdoms was the conquest of the western half by the eastern, which would have been the first area settled by the invaders.[17]

- Title Of Nobility: King of Kent
- LifeSketch: Ealhmund was King of Kent in 784. He is reputed to be the father of King Egbert who was King of Wessex and, later, King of Kent. He is not known to have struck any coins, and the only contemporary evidence of him is an abstract of a charter dated 784, in which Ealhmund granted land to the Abbot of Reculver. In this charter he is identified as Ealmundus rex Canciæ. By the following year Offa of Mercia seems to have been ruling directly, as he issued a charter without any mention of a local king. General consensus among historians is this is the same Ealhmund found in two pedigrees in the Winchester (Parker) Chronicle, compiled during the reign of Alfred the Great. The genealogical preface to this manuscript, as well as the annual entry (covering years 855–859) describing the death of Æthelwulf, both make King Egbert of Wessex the son of an Ealhmund, who was son of Eafa, grandson of Eoppa, and great-grandson of Ingild, the brother of King Ine of Wessex, and descendant of founder Cerdic, and therefore a member of the House of Wessex (see House of Wessex family tree). A further entry has been added in a later hand to the 784 annal, reporting Ealhmund's reign in Kent. Finally, in the Canterbury Bilingual Epitome, originally compiled after the Norman conquest of England, a later scribe has likewise added to the 784 annal not only Ealhmund's reign in Kent, but his explicit identification with the father of Egbert. Based on this reconstruction, in which a Wessex scion became King of Kent, his own Kentish name and that of his son, Egbert, it has been suggested that his mother derived from the royal house of Kent, a connection dismissed by a recent critical review. Historian Heather Edwards has suggested that Ealhmund was probably a Kentish royal scion, whose pedigree was forged to give his son Egbert the descent from Cerdic requisite to reigning in Wessex. Ealhmund's wife is not known, however, he is identified as the father of: - Ecgberht, King of Wessex. - Æthelburh of Wilton, wife of Wulfstan, ealdorman of Wiltshire, also known as Saint Alburga of Wilton.

Deusdedit, archbishop of Canterbury, is also taken suddenly. The accession of the king's son, Ecgberht, is challenged by the heirs of Eormenred - namely his sons, Æthelred and Æthelberht. The 'conspirators' are subsequently murdered at the royal vill of Eastry (near Sandwich in East Kent), but damage is done to Ecgberht and the moral authority of the Oiscingas.

Saint Eormenhild Religion Roman Catholic Eorcenberht of Kent (also Ærconberht, Earconberht, or Earconbert) (died 14 July 664) was king of the Anglo-Saxon kingdom of Kent from 640 until his death, succeeding his father Eadbald. The Kentish Royal Legend (also known as the Mildrith legend) suggests that he was the younger son of Eadbald and Emma of Austrasia, and that his older brother Eormenred was deliberately passed over, although another possibility is that they ruled jointly. According to Bede (HE III.8), Eorcenberht was the first king in Britain to command that pagan "idols" (cult images) be destroyed and that Lent be observed. It has been suggested that these orders may have been officially committed to writing, in the tradition of Kentish law-codes initiated by Æthelberht, but no such text survives. After the death of Honorius, Archbishop of Canterbury, Eorcenberht appointed the first Saxon archbishop, Deusdedit, in 655. Eorcenberht married Seaxburh of Ely, daughter of king Anna of East Anglia. They had two sons, Ecgberht and Hlothhere, who each consecutively became king of Kent, and two daughters who both were eventually canonized: Saint Eorcengota became a nun at Faremoutiers Abbey on the continent, and Saint Ermenilda became abbess at Ely. Eorcenberht was probably buried alongside his parents in the Church of St Mary, which his father had built in the precincts of the monastery of St Peter and St Paul in Canterbury, a church later incorporated within the Norman edifice of St Augustine's. At that time, his relics were translated for reburial in the south transept ca. - LifeSketch: Saint Olga (Church Slavonic: Ольга, died 969 AD in Kiev) was a regent of Kievan Rus' for her son Svyatoslav from 945 until 960. She is known for her obliteration of the Drevlians, a tribe that had killed her husband Igor of Kiev. Even though it would be her grandson Vladimir that would convert the entire nation to Christianity, for her efforts to spread Christianity through the Rus' Olga is venerated as a saint. While her birthdate is unknown, it could be as early as AD 890 and as late as 5 June 925.[1] Grand Princess of Kiev, Equal to the Apostles Born Pskov Died 11 July 969 Kiev Venerated in Roman Catholicism Eastern Catholicism, especially in the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church Eastern Orthodoxy Feast July 11/24 Early life Edit Olga was reportedly from Pskov. The Primary Chronicle gives 879 as her date of birth, which is unlikely, given the birth of her only son probably some 65 years after that date. She was, hypothetically, of Varangian extraction. She married the future Igor of Kiev arguably in 903, but perhaps as early as 901-902. Regency Edit After Igor's death on 945, Olga ruled Kievan Rus as regent on behalf of their son Svyatoslav.[2] In 947, Princess Olga launched a punitive expedition against the tribal elites between the Luga and the Msta River.[3] Following this successful campaign, a number of forts were erected at Olga’s orders. One of them is supposed to be Gorodets in the Luga region[4] a fortification dated to the middle of the 10th century. Because of its isolated location, Gorodets does not seem to have been in any way associated with the pre-existing settlement pattern. Moreover, the fort produced another example of square timber frames designed to consolidate the rampart that was seen at Rurikovo Gorodische. The same building technique was in use a century later in the Novgorod fortifications. Olga remained regent ruler of Kievan Rus with the support of the army and her people. She changed the system of tribute gathering (poliudie) in the first legal reform recorded in Eastern Europe. She continued to evade proposals of marriage, defended the city during the Siege of Kiev in 968, and saved the power of the throne for her son. Drevlian Uprising Edit The following account is taken from the Primary Chronicle. Princess Olga was the wife of Igor of Kiev, who was killed by the Drevlians. At the time of her husband's death, their son Svyatoslav was three years old, making Olga the official ruler of Kievan Rus' until he reached adulthood. The Drevlians wanted Olga to marry their Prince Mal, making him the ruler of Kievan Rus', but Olga was determined to remain in power and preserve it for her son. The Drevlians sent twenty of their best men to persuade Olga to marry their Prince Mal and give up her rule of Kievan Rus'. She had them buried alive. Then she sent word to Prince Mal that she accepted the proposal, but required their most distinguished men to accompany her on the journey in order for her people to accept the offer of marriage. The Drevlians sent the best men who governed their land. Upon their arrival, she offered them a warm welcome and an invitation to clean up after their long journey in a bathhouse. After they entered, she locked the doors and set fire to the building, burning them alive. With the best and wisest men out of the way, she planned to destroy the remaining Drevlians. She invited them to a funeral feast so she could mourn over her husband's grave. Her servants waited on them, and after the Drevlians were drunk, Olga's soldiers killed over 5,000 of them.[2] She then placed the city under siege.[2] She asked for three pigeons and three sparrows from each house; she claimed she did not want to burden the villagers any further after the siege.[2] They were happy to comply with the request. Now Olga gave to each soldier in her army a pigeon or a sparrow, and ordered them to attach by thread to each bird a piece of sulfur bound with small pieces of cloth. When night fell, Olga bade her soldiers release the pigeons and the sparrows. So the birds flew to their nests, the pigeons to the cotes, and the sparrows under the eaves. The dove-cotes, the coops, the porches, and the haymows were set on fire. There was not a house that was not consumed, and it was impossible to extinguish the flames because all the houses caught on fire at once. The people fled from the city, and Olga ordered her soldiers to catch them. Thus she took the city and burned it, and captured the elders of the city. Some of the other captives she killed, while some she gave as slaves to her followers. The remnant she left to pay tribute.[5] The story, however, is most likely a myth.[2] Relations with the Holy Roman Emperor Edit Seven Latin sources document Olga's embassy to Holy Roman Emperor Otto I in 959. The continuation of Regino of Prüm mentions that the envoys requested the emperor to appoint a bishop and priests for their nation. The chronicler accuses the envoys of lies, commenting that their trick was not exposed until later. Thietmar of Merseburg says that the first archbishop of Magdeburg, Saint Adalbert of Magdeburg, before being promoted to this high rank, was sent by Emperor Otto to the country of the Rus' (Rusciae) as a simple bishop but was expelled by pagan allies of Svyatoslav I. The same data is repeated in the annals of Quedlinburg and Hildesheim. Christianity Olga was the first ruler of Rus' to convert to Christianity, done in either 945 or 957. The ceremonies of her formal reception in Constantinople were detailed by Emperor Constantine VII in his book De Ceremoniis. Following her baptism, Olga took the Christian name Yelena, after the reigning Empress Helena Lekapena. The Slavonic chronicles add apocryphal details to the account of her baptism, such as the story of how she charmed and "outwitted" Constantine and spurned his proposals of marriage. In actuality, at the time of her baptism, Olga was an old woman, while Constantine already had a wife. Olga was one of the first people of Rus' to be proclaimed a saint for her efforts to spread Christianity throughout the country. Because of her proselytizing influence, the Eastern Orthodox Church, the Ruthenian Greek Catholic Church, and the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church call Saint Olga by the honorific Isapóstolos, "Equal to the Apostles". She is also a saint in the Roman Catholic Church. However, she failed to convert Svyatoslav, and it was left to Vladimir I, her grandson and pupil, to make Christianity the lasting state religion. During her son's prolonged military campaigns, she remained in charge of Kiev, residing in the castle of Vyshgorod with her grandsons. She died in 969, soon after the Pechenegs' siege of the city.[6][7] Notes 1. “Princess Olga of Kiev". Russiapedia. Retrieved 18 May 2016. 2. a b c d e Clements 2012, p. 7. 3. - Also known as: Lucius the Great
- Also known as: Lucius the Blessed
- Also known as: Amminadab the Grail King
- Also known as: Leiffer LLeuver Mawr ap Lucius
- Also known as: Lucius of the Silures Tribe
- Also known as: Aminadab Lucius Lleuver Mawr of Siluria
- Also known as: Lucius ap Coel Mawr
- Also known as: Lucius of Briton
- Also known as: Lucius Lleiffersson
- LifeSketch: Lleiffer Mawr was the son of King Cole I, and was known as Lucius, King of the Britons... as well as later, Saint Lucius. Being the son of the benevolent King Coilus, he generally ruled in the manner of his father. Married Gladys the Younger (of Siluria) Children Keribir, whose descendants include Magnus Maximus and Aedan mac Gabran Gladys Verch Lleiffer Mawr, whose descendants include Constantine I (The Great) Eurgen, who married Aminadab (great grandson of Jesus and Mary Magdalene) Lleiffer Mawr (King Lucius) is traditionally credited with introducing Christianity into Britain. There is no contemporary evidence for such a claim, albeit for centuries the story of this "first Christian king" was widely believed, especially in Britain, where it was considered an accurate account of Christianity among the early Britons. During the English Reformation, for example, the Lucius story was used in polemics by both Catholics and Protestants; Catholics considered it evidence of papal supremacy from a very early date, while Protestants used it to bolster claims of the primacy of a British national church founded by the crown. This is particularly true in that the actual introduction of (non-Pauline) Christianity into Britain was almost certainly due to James the Just (Joseph of Arimethea). It was Jim Boy (as his friends and Desposyni liked to call him) who first set up shop in Glastonbury, after having been given tracts of land by the Kings of Briton (...probably Arvirargus). The “Pope” Eleutherius send two missionaries, Fuganus and Duvianus (aka Fugitivius and Devious) to baptize the king, convert the commoners and flamens, turn pagan temples into churches and establish dioceses and archdioceses where the flamens had previously held power. Thereafter the pope was supposedly so pleased with their accomplishments, that Fungus and Dubious recruited another wave of missionaries to aid the cause. Lucius responded by granting land and privileges to the Church. He died without heir in CE 156, thereby weakening Roman influence in Britain. Yea. At the same time, however, there is some evidence to suggest that King Lucius was indeed impressed by the presence of Christianity... at least in the form promoted by Joseph of Arimethea, even as the Catholic Church extended its power. According to Laurence Gardner (Bloodline of the Holy Grail, page 147-8): “In the mid-2nd century, King Lucius, the great-grandson of Arvirargus, revived the spirit of the early disciples in Britain. In so doing, he was popularly held to have ‘increased the light’ of Joseph’s [of Arimethea’s] first missionaries, and accordingly became known as Lleiffer Mawr (the Great Luminary). His daughter Eurgen when she married Aminadab. What we do know with some certainty is that Lucius wrote earnestly to Eleutherius [the Bishop of Rome], requesting instruction in Christian government. “Eleutherius suggested that a good king was always at liberty to reject the laws of Rome -- but not the law of God.” [emphasis added] An extract: “The Christian believers, like all the people of the kingdom, must be considered sons of the king. They are under your protection... A king is known by his government, not by whether he retains his power over the land. While you govern well, you will be a king. Unless you do this, the name of the king endures not, and you will lose the name of king.” It should also be pointed out that King Lucius’ descendants (5th Generation) includes Constantine the Great (312-337). Constantine, however, is NOT in the line of descent to the Merovingian Dynast

- LifeSketch: Biography Bran the Blessed is a legendary or fictional person. Therefore he cannot have parents, spouses, or children, and he cannot have real dates or events. Noted genealogist Stewart Baldwin states plainly, "Unfortunately, these entirely mythical individuals come from various discredited genealogies which are incessantly repeated by amateur genealogists (and also by some who should know better). None of the above individuals ever existed, and any source which claims that they did is not trustworthy. [1] Research Notes His profile is being retained on WikiTree because Bran the Blessed appears in many popular genealogies. Therefore it is important to summarize here what the legends are, and to trace, to the extent possible, how they arose. Many of the legendary figures, including those who were born before the common era, appear on Saint Paul in Britain and Earliest Genealogy of Britain and Wales Parallel Profiles . Bran Fendigaid, born BCE . Guneril of Siluria, born 110 CE . Bran the Blessed, born 0018 CE Outline of the Legend . Pre-BCE Profiles: Antecedents reach back before the Common Era. Earliest Genealogy of Britain and Wales Conflation: This profile appears to conflate a Christian legend, a pre-Christian Druid legend of a God-king, and a 5th century Britonic king; details regarding each need to be sorted out. Legend A -- 100 BCE Bran was born between 100 and 75 BCE in England, and was also known as Lleddiarth ("half-speech Lear") Legend B -- Siluria Bran's father listed before merge of http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Britain-3 and http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Ap_Bladud-1 was Bladud 1st King of Siluria Of Troy-1 Legend C -- about 1 BCE-CE Bran Fendigaid was born in 0018. Bran Fendigaid Ap Siluria ... [2] He was born 20-10 BCE in Trevan, Llanilid, Glamorganshire, England. Legend D -- About 50, CE Brân the Blessed (Welsh: Bendigeidfran or Brân Fendigaidd, literally "Blessed Crow") is a giant and king of Britain in Welsh mythology. [3] Bran the Blessed was said to be a British King prior to the Roman Conquest. He was taken to Rome as a captive and made a persuasively eloquent speech before the Romans, and was granted his life. For house arrest he was placed in the home of St. Paul, who was living in Rome. Joseph of Arimathea and his daughter Anna were part of the household. Bran converted to Christianity, married Anna, and returned to England. This explains not only how Christianity first came to England, but also how Welsh royalty are descended from the ancient Hebrews. History of the Legend Mabinogen Bran the Blessed appears in several of the Welsh Triads, but his most significant role is in the Second Branch of the Mabinogi, Branwen ferch Llŷr. He is a son of Llŷr and Penarddun, and the brother of Brânwen, Manawydan, Nisien and Efnysien. The name "Brân" in Welsh is usually translated as crow or raven. The Welsh mythological texts of the Mabinogion were recorded between the 14th and 15th centuries in Middle Welsh. As a result, there are discrepancies regarding the spelling of names, because English translations maintain Middle Welsh orthography whereas Modern Welsh versions use Modern Welsh orthography. In Middle Welsh, there was some variation on the name Brân; other grammatical forms (following the rules of Welsh mutations) include Vran and Uran (Fran in Modern Welsh orthography). In the Mabinogion, the character is referred to virtually exclusively as "Bendigeituran"; that is, with the epithet "Bendigeit" (blessed or praiseworthy) attached. The only exceptions are in the patronymic of his son Caradog ap Brân and a single reference to his gathering in Ireland as Gwledd Brân, "The feast of Brân (or 'Crow')". This usage is followed in the Welsh Triads. Bendigeituran becomes "Bendigeidfrân" or "Brân Fendigeid" in Modern Welsh; Bendigeidfran is the form used in many Modern Welsh adaptations of the Mabinogion. While Cynddelw Brydydd Mawr and Prydydd y Moch mention Brân fab Llŷr several times in their poetry, under different spellings. However, Bleddyn Fardd refers to "Benigeitran" in his elegy for Llywelyn ap Gruffudd, demonstrating that the epithet "Bendigeit" had been attached to Brân since the late 13th century.

- Also known as: King of Siluria
- Occupation: King of Ewyas and Silurie
- Title (Nobility): King of Siluria
- Title Of Nobility: King " Saint " of SILURIA ap Caradoc
- LifeSketch: Cyllin was a legendary, and possibly historical British king of the 1st century AD, early Christian saint and the last pendragon of Great Britain. His existence is based on very limited evidence. Richard Williams Morgan claimed that a reference to him as a son of Caratacus was found in the family records of Iestyn ab Gwrgant and used this as evidence of early entry of Christianity to Britain; Cyllin ab Caradog, a wise and just king. In his days many of the Cymry embraced the faith in Christ through the teaching of the saints of Cor-Eurgain, and many godly men from the countries of Greece and Rome were in Cambria. He first of the Cymry gave infants names; for before, names were not given except to adults, and then from something characteristic in their bodies, minds, or manners. Reference to Cyllin is also given in Iolo Morganwg's "Third series" of forged Welsh Triads. He is also discussed in the works of Rice Rees, Jane Williams, Sabine Baring-Gould and John Williams (Ab Ithel) as brother of Saint Eigen and father of King Coel. He is also noted in a manuscript giving the genealogy of Taliesin from the collection of Thomas Hopkin of Coychurch along with one from the Havod Uchtryd collection where he is called Cynan, a name often associated with Conan Meriadoc. «b»Biography«/b» Saint Cyllin was a legendary, and possibly historical British king of the 1st century AD, early Christian saint and the last pendragon of Great Britain. His existence is based on very limited evidence. «b»Outline of Cyllin's Legend Name and Time«/b» "Cyllin was the son of Caradawg ap Bran, a saint who flourished at the close of the first century. No church in Wales Bears his name." Cyllinus was one of two brothers of Claudia, daughter of Caradoc, the son of Bran. Cyllinus was the eldest son of Caradoc ap Bran. «b»Family Connections«/b» Medieval Welsh sources created elaborate and largely fictitious genealogies that incorporated various historical figures. The father of the figure represented in this profile, Caractacus, was authentically known from Roman sources, but the present representation is highly fictionalized. The dates are, of course, speculations that are not given in the primary sources. Bran the Blessed. According to these forgeries, Bran the Blessed was the son of Llyr Llediaith, the first of the race of the Cymry who was converted to the faith in Christ ; and his family is the most ancient of the Holy Families of the Island of Britain, and his church is in Llandaff. Arwystli Hen, a man from Italy; he came with Bran, the son of Llyr, to the Island of Britain to teach the Christian faith. Saint Ilid, a man of Israel, who came with Bran, the son of Llyr, from Rome to teach the Christian faith to the race of the Cymry. Eigen, the daughter of Caradoc, the son of Bran, the son of Llyr Llediaith, wife of Sallwg, lord of Garth Mathrin. Saint Lleurwg, called Lleuver Mawr [the great luminary], the son of Coel, the son of Cyllin, the son of Caradoc, the son of Bran, the son of Llyr Llediaith, sent to Pope Eleutherius to request bishops to confer baptism on those of the race of the Cymry who should believe in Christ. Saint Gwerydd, the son of Cadwn, the son of Cenau, the son of Eudav, of the family of Bran the Blessed, the son of Llyr Llediaith. His church is Llanwerydd, the same as Saint Dunawd. Saint Gwynno, of the family of Bran the Blessed. «b»Cyllin's father and grandfather:«/b» Caradoc ap Bran. Reigned in Cambria after his father. "His residence was the site of the present Dunraven Castle, in the centre of his dominions Siluria. Whgen taken prisoner to Rome he was preserved from the criminal's fate by the admiration which he excited; he was permitted to reside seven years in free custody in Rome, his aged father Bran, and the whole Royal Family being retained as hostages. HIs residence was the palace on the declivity of the Mons Sacra, converted by his grand-daughter Pudentiana into the first christian church in Rome, now known as "Saint Pudentiana." «b»Cyllin's Mother«/b» Other legends give Cyllin's mother as Anna Arimathea, daughter of Joseph of Arimathea. Anna was married to Caradog ap Bran, said to be born in the year 35, in Glamorganshire, England. «b»Cyllin's Siblings:«/b» 1.) Claudia (Gladys) Claudia (Gladys) married Rufus Pudens, a Roman Patrician, who filled high civil and military positions in Britain. He was converted to Christianity by his wife. Rufus is named in the epistle of St. Paul to the Romans. (Romans 16:13) Rufus in turn baptized Bran, Caractacus, and the other members of the Silurian Royal Family. 2.) Eigen 3.) Cyllinus 4.) Linus, was ordained by Saint Paul as the first Bishop of Rome «b»Cyllin's Children:«/b» 1.) Cyllinus was the father of Coel, who flourished in the year 120. «b»Travels 59 and 60«/b» In 59, Aristobulus, brother to Barnabas, and father-in-law to S. Peter, was ordained by S. Paul, first Bishop of the Britons, and left Rome with Bran, Caractacus, and the Royal Family; Bran, on account of this second phase in the introduction of christianity into Britain, is known as one of the benefactorsw of the island, and the epithet of the Blessed given him. In 60, S. Paul visited Caradoc, and returned to the continent, after some months, with Claudia, Pudens, and Linus. "In 67, on the evening preceding his execution, he (S. Paul) wrote his farewell epistle to Timothy; the only salutations are from the British family, Pudens, Linus, Eubulus, and Claudia, who thus, through God's grace, ministered to the sorrows of the founder of the Gentile church." «b»Birth Year Estimation«/b» Basing the calculation on the impression that Cyllin would have been a member of the "Royal Family" in 59, assume Cyllin's reputed birth prior to that; if he was born in the year 50 he would have been aged 9, a suitable age for the trip and for remaining behind in Britain in the year 60. Some legendary sources place Cyllin's birth in Trevan, Llanilid, Glamorganshire; based on the legendary narrative, it would be either in Siluria or Rome. «b»Death«/b» Cyllinus died in Britain. «b»1801 Iolo Morganwg Fraud«/b» Reference to Saint Cyllin is also given in Iolo Morganwg's "Third series" of forged Welsh Triads. «b»1836 Other References«/b» Cyllin is also discussed in the works of Rice Rees, Jane Williams, Sabine Baring-Gould and John Williams (Ab Ithel) as brother of Saint Eigen and father of King Coel. «b»1849 Mabinogion«/b» Cyllin is also noted in a manuscript giving the genealogy of Taliesin from the collection of Thomas Hopkin of Coychurch along with one from the Havod Uchtryd collection where he is called Cynan, a name often associated with Conan Meriadoc. «b»1861 Richard Williams Morgan«/b» Richard Williams Morgan claimed that a reference to him as a son of Caratacus was found in the family records of Iestyn ab Gwrgant and used this as evidence of early entry of Christianity to Britain; "Cyllin ab Caradog, a wise and just king. In his days many of the Cymry embraced the faith in Christ through the teaching of the saints of Cor-Eurgain, and many godly men from the countries of Greece and Rome were in Cambria. He first of the Cymry gave infants names; for before, names were not given except to adults, and then from something characteristic in their bodies, minds, or manners."

His brother Linus the Martyr, his sister Claudia and her husband Rufus Pudens aided the Apostle Paul in the Christian Church in Rome, as recorded in: II Timothy 4:21 and Romans 16:13 (Rufus Pudens and St. Paul are shown to be half-brothers, with the same mother but different fathers. "His mother and mine." She thus appears to have been the mother of an elder son, Paul, by a Hebrew husband, and a younger son, Rufus, by a second marriage with a Roman Christian.) - Father: Arsamos I King of Armenia
- Birth: 235
- Occupation: Kg. v. Armenien
- LifeSketch: Orontes IV (Armenian: Երվանդ Դ, Yervand IV) was the son of King Arsames and is recorded as ruling Armenia from inscriptions found at the historic capital of the Orontid dynasty, Armavir. He was the founder of the city of Yervandashat. In his reign the religious site of Bagaran was founded. Large bronze statues in the Hellenistic style of the gods, Zeus (Aramazd), Artemis (Anahit) and Herakles (Vahagn) were brought there and set up in temples dedicated to them. He is also said to have founded a shrine at Armavir dedicated to Apollo (Mithra), a golden statue of four horses pulling a chariot with Apollo as god of the Sun. This was later destroyed by the Sassanid Persian army in the 4th century AD. King Antiochus III instigated a revolt against King Orontes IV. Strabo, who wrote about this 200 years later, stated that it was general Artaxias I, who was also an Orontid, who overthrew King Orontes IV. Aramaic inscriptions found at Armavir state that King Orontes IV died at the hands of his own army, in other words by betrayal from Artaxias I. This was most likely bribery of the Armenian army by King Antiochus III. Artaxias I took over as King of Armenia soon afterwards, according to Strabo. Orontes IV had a son, Ptolemaeus of Commagene, who served as the last Satrap of Commagene between 201–163 BC, became in 163 BC the first King of Commagene and died in 130 BC.
