- Murdered by his brother Gundobad: 501
- LifeSketch: Foundation for Medieval Genealogy GODEGISEL (-500). Gregory of Tours names (in order) "Gundobad, Godegisel, Chilperic and Gundomar" as the four sons of Gundioc King of the Burgunds, recording that Gundobad murdered his brother Godogisel. The Liber Historiæ Francorum names "Gundeveus rex Burgundionum…ex genere Athanaric regis" and his four sons "Gundobadus, Godeghiselus, Chilpricus et Godmarus". He succeeded his father in 473 as GODEGISEL King of Burgundy, based at Besançon. Gregory of Tours records that Godegisel ruled jointly with his brother Gundobad "over the territory round the Rhône and the Saône and the province of Marseille", but defected to support Clovis King of the Franks when the latter attacked Burgundy, and afterwards established himself as ruler at Vienne[16]. The same source records that King Godegisel was killed when his brother attacked Vienne. The Marii Episcopi Aventicensis Chronica records that "Godegaselo" conspired against "fratrem suum Gundobagaudum" in 500. ************************ Wikipedia Godegisel (? - 501) was a Burgundian sub-king and son of the Burgundian king Gondioc. Godegisel was the educator and uncle of Clotilde, wife of the Frankish king Clovis I. Since 463 he was a sub-king of the Burgundians. With the help of Clovis, Godegisel attempted to become the king of all the kingdom of the Burgundians by eliminating his brother Gundobad. Gundobad had previously seized the rest of the kingdom after the assassination of their brother Chilperic II. With the promise of annual tribute and territorial cessions, Clovis agreed to aid Godegisel, and in 500 (or 501) Clovis entered the Burgundian territory, compelling Gundobad to march against the invaders and request his brother's aid. When the armies arrived outside of Dijon, Gundobad found himself fighting both the Franks and his brother. Defeated, Gundobad fled to Avignon, while Godigisel retired to Vienne. Clovis followed Gundobad to Avignon and began besieging it, only to abandon the operation and make peace with Gundobad.[1] In 501 he was able to recover his territory with Visigothic aid. Gundobad murdered Godegisel in Vienne, and replaced him with his son Sigismund. He was married to Teudelinda.

- Father: Gotfrid AGILOLFING
- Mother: Oda Theodos BAYERN
- Birth: 651, Canstatt, Alemannien
- Also known as: Godfroi (Godefroy) D'allemania
- Also known as: Gotfridus, Gotefrid, Cotefredus
- Clan Name: House of Agilolfing
- Title Of Nobility: Duke of Alemannia
- LifeSketch: Störmer Wilhelm: page 22 *************** "Aristocratic Groups in Early and High Medieval Bavaria. Studies on Bavarian Constitutional and Social History, Volume IV." Since Erich Zöllner's investigation into the origin of AGILOLFINGER, we have also known the father of Hucbert's successor, Odilo; it is the Alemanni Duke Gottfried. Following Zöllner's results, Eckhardt constructed a genealogical connection between Odilo and Duke Theodo of Bavaria on the basis of comparisons of names. He assumes a marriage of the Alemannic dux Gottfried with a daughter of the Bavarian dux Theodo. But since Gottfried died in 709, Theodo not until 717/18, this conjecture is not very likely. Not only the naming of Gottfried's sons, but also the awareness of Odilos and his son Tassilo that they are AGILOLFINGER, make clear the relationship between the Gottfried family and the Theodos; only it seems that it must be traced back to an earlier marriage or marriages, which we do not know about. We don't know anything about Gottfried's origins. Klebel thinks it is possible that he was married to a daughter of a MEROWINGER king, Clovis II or Chlothars II, because Hildegard, the mother of the two sons KARLS DES GRAND, LUDWIG DES FROMMEN and Lothar, who strikingly had MEROWINGER names , descended from Duke Gottfried. Landfried, Theutbald and Huiching are clearly documented genealogically by his sons. ------- Gottfrid (?-709), Duke of the Alemannians. His parentage is speculative, but he is known to have belonged to the Agilolfings. Some sources call him the 13th Merovingian Duke of Alemannia, which seems to be a wishful exaggeration of the evidence. Controversy About His Wife "There is no direct evidence regarding Gottfried's wife or wives." Stewart Baldwin summarizes the evidence as follows: "The suggestion that he [Gottfrid] was married to a daughter of duke Theodo (II not V) is based on a string of conjectures: 1. It has been conjectured that duke Odilo of Bavaria was a son of Gottfried. This conjecture has been accepted by many scholars, and I am inclined to regard it as probably true, but the evidence is not that strong. 2. Assuming that the first conjecture is correct, it has been conjectured on top of that that Odilo's mother was an Agilolfing, in order to explain his possession of the duchy of Bavaria and to explain the Agilolfing name that he gave to his son Thassilo. 3. Assuming that the second conjecture is correct, it has been conjectured on top of that that Gottfried's wife was a daughter of Theodo II, Agilolfing duke of Bavaria. Based on the same string of guesses, Settipani has conjectured that Gottfried's wife was a sister of Theodo rather than his daughter. Although both conjectures are based on very slender evidence, Settipani's version is chronologically more plausible. To accept the above line [omitted here], you would have to accept all of the above string of conjectures, and accept in addition that Huoching and Odilo had the same mother, when we have no evidence whether or not Gottfried was married more than once."

- Grifo wurde von seinen Halbbrüdern Pippin der Jüngere und Karlmann als illegitim dargestellt und ihm das Erbe verwehrt: (Date and Place unknown)
- LifeSketch: A first attempt at rebellion ended with the fact that he was held in monastic custody in the monastery of Chèvremont. From there he managed to escape and he received support from Duke Odilo von Baiern. When his half-brother Pippin exercised the caretaker's office on his own after Karlmann's resignation from 747, Pippin released Grifo. Grifo fled to the Saxons via the Thuringian region in the north of Baiern and returned to Baiern again. Pippin succeeded in suppressing his revolt, especially since Grifo lost his most important ally with the death of the Bavarian Duke Odilo in 748 and tried to raise himself to Duke of Bavaria. This attempt was quite promising, as Grifo descended from his mother Swanahild from the Bavarian dynasty of the Agilolfingers. Pippin gave Grifo counties in the middle of the empire and put Odilo's seven-year-old son Tassilo III. as a duke, but as a Frankish vassal. On the run to the Longobard king Aistulf, Grifo was found near Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne in 753 by Pippin's border count Theodewinus. Many noble Franks fell in the battle, as did Grifo and Theodewinus --------------------- Ein erster Rebellionsversuch endete damit, dass er in Klosterhaft im Kloster von Chèvremont[2] gehalten wurde.

Gregory of Tours names (in order) Gunthar, Childerich, Charibert, Guntram, Sigibert and a daughter Clothsind as the children of King Clotaire and his wife Ingonde, specifying that Gunthar died in his father's lifetime[168]. It is assumed that the first three children at least were born illegitimate. Gregory of Tours reports that he served as an officer in his father's army, but died young[169].

- Birth: ABT 876, Merseburg, Saxony
- Also known as: Hatburg
- Also known as: Hatheburch
- Also known as: Hatheburg von Merseburg
- LifeSketch: Hatheburg (also Hatheburch) (* 876 in Merseburg; † on 21 June after 909) was a Frankish queen, the first wife of Henry the Fowler, later king of East Francia (Germany). After their marriage was dissolved, Hatheburg became abbess of a convent. Hatheburg was the daughter of Erwin of Mersburg, who possessed property in Hassegau and Friesenfeld. The name of Hatheburg's mother is Wendilgarde and her mother's sister, Hildegard, was married to Thietmar, Count of Merseburg, who was Henry the Fowler's military tutor (vir disciplinae militaris peritissmus). Erwin had no sons and Hatheburg and her sister were the heirs to his property. Hatheburg was married around 890, for the first time, to a man whose name is not known. She was widowed shortly afterwards, and entered a monastery where she took the veil. According to the chronicler Bishop Thietmar of Merseburg, "burning with youthful love", Henry wanted to marry Hatheburg because of "her beauty and the usefulness of her inherited wealth". Hatheburg and Henry married in 906, and Henry gained control of Hathburg's inheritance. Because Hatheburg had taken the veil, and the couple married without dispensation, their marriage was condemned by Bishop Sigismund of Halberstadt. The couple were threatened with excommunication at a church synod. According to Thietmar, Henry was "disturbed by such talk" and decided to approach the emperor, Conrad I of Germany for help. Conrad ensured that the sentence of excommunication was deferred, and the couple remained married. Yet by 909, Henry began to burn "for the beauty and wealth" of another woman: Matilda of Ringelheim. Henry declared his marriage to Hatheburg has been unlawful, due to her prior vows as a nun, and the couple separated. Hatheburg returned to the convent, where she became abbess, and Henry married Matilda. Children Probably in 906 Hatheburg gave birth to Henry's son, Thankmar. Because the validity of Hatheburg and Henry's marriage was questioned, so was Thankmar's legitimacy. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hatheburg_of_Merseburg#Life

The Liberate Rolls record a payment to “Aymenin yeoman of Eleanor wife of Edward the king´s son” for bringing news to the king “about her childbearing”, dated 6 May 1268[754]. The Continuator of Florence of Worcester records the burial at Westminster "XIII Kal Nov" 20 Oct [1274] of "dominus Henricus domini Edwardi filius"[755]. The Chronicle of Thomas Wykes records the death “circa festum Sancti Calixti Papæ” in 1274 of “Henricus filius regis Edwardi secundo genitus” and his burial “apud Westmonasterium…X Kal Nov”[756]. The Chronicle of John de Oxenedes records the burial “apud Westmonasterium XIII Kal Nov” of “dominus Henricus domini Ædwardi filius”, dated to 1273 from the context[757]. Betrothed (1 Sep 1273) to JEANNE de Champagne, Infanta doña JUANA de Navarra, daughter of ENRIQUE I King of Navarre [HENRI III Comte de Champagne] & his wife Blanche d'Artois [Capet] (Bar-sur-Seine 14 Jan 1273-Château de Vincennes 31 Mar or 2 Apr 1305, bur Paris église des Cordeliers). A charter dated 1 Sep 1273 records the agreement between "Edbbardus…rex Anglie" and "Henricus…rex Navarre, Campanie et Brie, comes palatinus" for the marriage of "Henricus rex…Johannam filiam nostrum et heredem" and "Henrico filio primogenitor et heredi…Edbbardi regis Anglie"[758]. ========== Wiki (11-2020) Henry of England (6 May 1268 - 14 October 1274 in Merton, Surrey) was the fifth child and second son of Edward I of England by his first wife, Eleanor of Castile. Henry was born in Windsor Castle during the reign of his paternal grandfather, Henry III of England. On 3 August 1271, Henry's older brother John died in the custody of their paternal granduncle Richard, 1st Earl of Cornwall. His death left Henry the eldest surviving child of Edward and second-in-line to the throne of England. Henry III died on 16 November 1272. Edward became King of England and Henry his heir apparent. In 1273, Henry was betrothed to Joan I of Navarre. When Henry lay dying at Guildford in 1274, neither of his parents made the short journey from London to see him. He was tended by his grandmother, Eleanor of Provence, who had raised him during the four years his parents were on Crusade. The queen dowager was thus at that moment more familiar to him than his parents, and the better able to comfort him in his illness. Since Henry was always sickly, the gravity of his illness was perhaps not realised until it was too late for his parents to reach him. He died of natural causes and was buried in Westminster Abbey.

His birth date range is estimated based on the latest birth date of his wife, bearing in mind the probable date of birth of his half-brother Renaud Earl of Cornwall and his own date of death. HERBERT FitzHerbert [II], son of HERBERT FitzHerbert [I] & his wife Sibyl Corbet ([1125/35]-before 18 Jul 1204). “Willelmus filius Hugonis de Bridssale” donated property “de feudo Herberti filii Herberti” to Watton convent by charter dated to [1175/95][590]. His birth date range is estimated based on the latest birth date of his wife, bearing in mind the probable date of birth of his half-brother Renaud Earl of Cornwall and his own date of death. The Red Book of the Exchequer refers to "Herbertus filius Herberti i m" in Wiltshire in [1161/62][591]. Military fee certifications in the Red Book of the Exchequer, in 1166, record that "Herbertus filius Herberti camerarii senioris" used to hold two knights` fees in Hampshire now held by "Herbertus filius eius"[592]. The 1176/77 Pipe Roll names "Herbertus filius Herberti" in Hampshire[593]. Benedict of Peterborough records that Henry II King of England granted the kingdom of Limerick to "Hereberti filio Hereberti, et Willelmo fratri comitis Reginaldi, et Joellano de la Pumerai nepoti eorum" at a council in Oxford in May 1177, but that "Herbertus et Willelmus, fratres Reginaldi comitis Cornubiæ, et Joellanus de Pumeria nepos eorum" declined it at a council at Marlborough 3 Jun 1177[594]. The Red Book of the Exchequer, listing scutage payments in [1190/91], records "Herbertus filius Herbertus" paying "xx s, ii milites" in Berkshire and "x s, i militem" in Wiltshire[595]. The Pipe Roll at Michaelmas 1194 records “Herbertus f Herberti” owing for “legalem portionem suam versus Margaretam de Bohun” also in Gloucestershire[596]: the property in question was presumably inherited from Miles of Gloucester, the father of Margaret de Bohun and of Herbert’s wife. The Red Book of the Exchequer, listing scutage payments in [1194/95], names "Herbertus filius Herberti" paying "xxv s, i militem et tertiam" in Hampshire[597]. m LUCY of Hereford, daughter of MILES of Gloucester Earl of Hereford & his wife Sibylle de Neufmarché (before 1143-[1219/20] or after, bur Lanthony Priory, Gloucester). The Historia fundationis cum fundatoris genealogia of the priory of Abergavenny names “Margaretam, Bertam et Luciam” as the three daughters of “Milonem” & his wife, adding that Lucy married “Herberto filio Hereberti” and inherited “foresta de Dene et aliis terries in Anglia”[598]. King John confirmed the possessions of Lanthony abbey by charter dated 30 Jul 1199, including the donation of "duas partes de Onedesleye" made by "Margar de Bohun", in accordance with the division made "inter ipsam et Luciam sororem suam"[599]. The Testa de Nevill lists knights who held land from bishop of Worcester, whose assets had been confiscated by King John, dated to [1208/13]: "Henricus de Boun comes Herefordie et domina Lucia que fuit uxor Herberti filii Herberti" held "manerio in Suham et Brokhamt ii milites…in comitatu Glouc"[600]. A feodary of the bishop of Worcester’s estates drawn up in [1219/20] records that "Dame Lucia, widow of Herbert fitz Herbert" held shares in two Gloucestershire manors[601]. A manuscript in Aske’s collections names “Milo…Erle of Herforde, Lord of Bricone and of all the Forest of Done, and also Constable of England…Sibbill wiff of the seid Milo…Luce the third daughter of the seid Milo Erle…” among those buried at Lanthony Priory[602]. Herbert & his wife had two children:

- Father: Aristobule IV HERODIENS
- Mother: Bérenice A bar Costobarus of IDUMAEA
- Birth: 15 BC, Judea, Roman Empire
- Also known as: Herod of Chalcis
- Title Of Nobility: Ruler of Chalcis in Iturea
- LifeSketch: Herod of Chalcis (d. 48-49 AD), also known as Herod V, listed by the Jewish Encyclopedia as Herod II, was a son of Aristobulus IV, and the grandson of Herod the Great, Roman client king of Judaea. He was the brother of Herod Agrippa I and Herodias. His first wife was his cousin, Mariamne. She bore him a son named Aristobulus, who also eventually became ruler of Chalcis. After Mariamne's death, he married his niece Berenice, with whom he had two sons, Berenicianus and Hyrcanus. Around 41 AD, at the request of his brother, Herod Agrippa, emperor Claudius granted him the rule of Chalcis, a territory north of Judaea, with the title of king. Three years later, after the death of his brother, he was also given responsibility for the Temple in Jerusalem, as well as the appointment of the Temple's High Priest. During the four years in which he exercised this right he appointed two high priests—Joseph, son of Camydus (44-46), and Ananias, son of Nedebeus (ca. 47-52). He died in 48 AD. After his death the kingdom was given to Herod Agrippa II.

- Birth: ABT 700, -
- Title Of Nobility: Duke of Spoleto
- LifeSketch: Hildeprand was the Duke of Spoleto from 774 to 789. When Theodicius of Spoleto died fighting at the Siege of Pavia in 774, the Lombards of the Duchy of Spoleto elected Hildeprand their duke and quickly submitted to the Franks. Hildeprand fled to Rome before the Frankish host and did homage to Pope Hadrian I. However, the dispute between Charlemagne and Hadrian as to who had the proper suzerainty over Spoleto was solved in the Frank's favour over the next few years. In January 776, Hildeprandus gloriosus et summus dux ducatus Spoletani made a donation to the Abbey of Farfa dating it to the year of Charles' reign. This form was continued in 777 with language implicitly excluding papal suzerainty. In 775, Hadrian alleged that Hildeprand had joined a conspiracy of Hrodgaud of Friuli and Arechis II of Benevento, but there is no evidence of Hildeprand's involvement. Hildeprand remained a staunch opponent of the papacy thereafter. In 779, Hildeprand travelled to Virciniacum, probably near Compiègne, to profess fealty to Charlemagne. He brought with him gifts and left with promises that the king would protect his interests from those of the pope. In 788, Hildeprand joined Frankish and Lombard troops in resisting a Byzantine invasion. He died the next year and was succeeded by a royal appointee: a Frank, named Winiges. ___________________________________________________ HILDEPRAND (-after 788). He fled to Rome when Charles I King of the Franks invaded Italy in 773. Pope Hadrian I appointed him in 774 as HILDEPRAND Duke of Spoleto, subject to the see of Rome. He fought successfully against imperial troops in Italy. "Carolus…rex Francorum et Langobardorum" confirmed the properties of Farfa monastery by charter dated 9 Jun 776, including property which "Theodicius dux…restituit…et…Hildeprandus dux noster fecit". The Chronicon Farfense records that "Hildeprandus…dux" donated "gualdum…Tancia…in territorio Reatino" to Farfa. "Ildeprandus…dux ducatus Spoletani" confirmed the possessions of Farfa monastery, in the presence of "…Lupo comes de Firmo…Lupo comes de Esculo…Halo comes…", by charter dated Dec 776. The Chronicon Vulturnense records that "Hildeprandus…Dux Ducatus Spoletino" donated "ecclesiam sancti Donati in territorio Cumino" to Volturno monastery by charter dated May 778. The Annales Laurissenses record that "Hildebrandus dux Spolitanus" submitted to Charles I King of the Franks "in villa…Virciniacum" in 779. A charter dated Jul 781 of "Karolus…rex Francorum atque Langobardorum" relating to Farfa names "Hildeprandus…dux", and is witnessed by "Halo…comes". “Hildeprand...dux ducatus Spoletini” donated property to Montecassino by charter dated 9 Apr “regnante domino nostro Karolo...rex Francorum atque Langobardorum, anno regni eius in Italia...nono” 782. He was succeeded by the Frank Winichis as dux of Spoleto. http://fmg.ac/Projects/MedLands/CENTRAL%20ITALY.htm#Agipranddied744

- LifeSketch: At her father's court, she developed an intense relationship with Duke Odilo of Bavaria, which led to a scandal. [1] After the death of her father (741), on the advice of her stepmother Swanahild, the daughter of Theodos II, she fled to Regensburg, where she married Odilo that same year. With him she had a son, who later became Duke Tassilo III. Presumably from 748, the death of Odilo, she exercised the guardianship of the still underage son. Salzburg, one of the residential cities of the Agilulfing family, is assumed to be their place of residence.

- LifeSketch: Hnabi or Nebi (c. 710-789) was an Alemannian duke. He was a son of Huoching and perhaps a grandson of the duke Gotfrid, which would make him a scion of the Agilolfing dynasty of Bavaria. He was the founder of the "old" line of the Ahalolfings. Around 724 he was one of the joint founders of the monastery of Reichenau. By his wife Hereswind, Hnabi left at least two children, Ruadbert (Rodbert, Robert), who was count in the Hegau, and Imma or Emma (died c. 785), who married Gerold of Vintzgau and was the mother of Eric of Friuli and Hildegard, wife of Charlemagne. Rodbert son of Hnabi is mentioned in a St. Gall document dated 770. Imma is mentioned in documents of Lorsch, Fulda and St. Gall between 779 and 804. The genealogy of Hildegard is recorded in the ninth-century Vita Hiudowici by Thegan of Trier: "the duke Gotfrid begat Huoching, Huoching begat Hnabi, Hnabi begat Emma, Emma herself the most blessed queen Hildegard". Scholars have cast doubt on Huoching being the son of Gotfrid, comparing the father-and-son pair of Huoching and Hnabi to that of Hoc and Hnaef in Anglo-Saxon tradition. «b»By his wife Hereswind, Hnabi left at least two children: «/b» 1.) - According to early sources, Hengist and Horsa arrived in Britain as mercenaries serving Vortigern, King of the Britons. This event is traditionally recognised as the beginning of the Anglo-Saxon invasion of Britain.: (Date and Place unknown)
- Title Of Nobility: King of Saxon-Kent
- Anglo-Saxon history records Hengist and Horsa as the two Jütlandic brothers who led the Angle, Saxon, Frisian, and Jutish armies that conquered the first territories of Britain in the 5th century.: (Date and Place unknown)
- LifeSketch: Hengist and Horsa, Hengist d. 488; d. 455?, brothers and legendary leaders of the first Anglo-Saxon settlers in Britain who went there, according to the English historian and theologian Bede, to fight for the British king Vortigern against the Picts between AD 446 and 454. The brothers are said to have been Jutes and sons of one Wihtgils. The Anglo-Saxon Chronicle says that they landed at Ebbsfleet, Kent, and that Horsa was killed at Aegelsthrep (possibly Aylesford, Kent) in 455. Bede mentions a monument to him in east Kent; Horstead, near Aylesford, may be named for him. The Chronicle says that Hengist began to reign in 455 and that he fought against the Britons; it implies that Hengist died in 488. The historic kings of Kent traced their direct descent from Hengist, although the Kentish royal house was known as Oiscingas, from Hengist’s son Oeric, surnamed Oisc (or Aesc), who is said to have reigned alone from 488 to 512 Horsa and his brother Hengist, with three warships were supposedly the first Anglo-Saxons leaders to arrive in what is now England, in the mid-fifth century, at the invitation of Vortigern, King of the Britons, to assist him in fighting the Scots and Picts. At some point, they turned against the Britons instead. Early Sources It is Bede, in the Historia Ecclesiastica Gentis Anglorum (Ecclesiastical History of the English People) completed in about 731, who states that "the first commanders are said to have been the two brothers Hengist and Horsa"[2] (Duces fuisse perhibentur eorum primi duo fratres Hengist et Horsa), the sons of Wihtgils, son of Witta, son of Wecta, son of Woden. (Erant autem filii Uictgilsi, cuius pater Uitta, cuius pater Uecta, cuius pater Uoden). Nennius' work Historia Brittonum, written in the 8th century further elaborated on the story, stating that they were exiled from Germany,[3] and he first introduces the story of Hengist (at this stage unnamed) beautiful daughter, who arrived later in a group of 16 vessels, and so bewitched Vortigern that he exchanged Kent for her.[4] Bede goes on to say that "Horsa was afterwards slain in battle by the Britons, and a monument, bearing his name, is still in existence in the eastern parts of Kent."[5] It is the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle, that dates this event to 455 and that it happened at Aylesford. Later Bede notes that Hengist was the father of Oeric, and that Oeric accompanied Hengist upon his invitation by Vortigern.

- Title Of Nobility: Duke of Alemannia
Huoching of Alamannia (c. 675–744) was a German nobleman. According to the 9th-century Vita Hiudowici of Thegan, he was the son of Gotfrid Agilolfing (c. 650–709). Huoching's son, Hnabi (Nebi), was the founder of the Ahalolfings dynasty, which rose to fame in Alamannia during the Carolingian period. Agilofing ancestry has been called into question in studies. Wenskus ([year needed]: 497–500) has suggested a connection of Huoching and Hnabi with the historical Nibelungs. He compares the father-son couple Hoc and Hnaefen to the heroic poetry of Ancient English (Beowulf, Finnsburgh's fragment, Widsith), suggesting that Huoching and Hnabi are the historical template of these names in later heroic poetry. In this, he is following a suggestion made as far back as 1849 by John Mitchell Kemble in History of the Saxons in England (p. 419).

- Also known as: Chugoberctus
- alt.birth: ABT 635
- LifeSketch: Hugobert (also Chugoberctus or Hociobercthus) (died probably in 697) was a seneschal and a count of the palace at the Merovingian court during the reigns of Theuderic III and Childebert III. He was a grandson of the dux Theotar, and it is assumed, but not proven, that his father was Chugus, who in 617 became mayor of the palace of Austrasia. The juxtaposition of names in the Vita Landiberto episcopi Traiectensis may imply a relationship between him and the family of Saint Lambert (see below). It has been disproven that he is one and the same with bishop Hugobert of Liège, because his wife appears in the records of Echternach in the year 698 as a widow. He was married to Irmina of Oeren, who, shortly after his death, made possible the founding of the Abbey of Echternach. Irmina was sister to Adela of Pfalzel, founder of the convent Pfalzel, who is frequently confused with her daughter of the same name. He last appears in a royal charter dated 14 March 697. Hugobert and Irmina had several daughters, including: Plectrude, 691/717 witnessed, the first wife of Pippin of Herstal and founder of the Abbey St. Maria im Kapitol in Cologne Adela (655-732), abbess of Pfalzel, married to Eudes I, Duke of Aquitaine (questionable Odo the Great and son of Saint Oda) Regintrud, whose second marriage after the death of her husband was to the duke Theudebert of Bavaria Irmina (d. ca 704), married to Chariveus, brother of Lambert, Count of Hesbaye. Other children sometimes attributed by genealogists to Hugobert and Irmina include: Chrodelinda, who was likely the daughter of Irmina and Chiriveus. She married Wido, Abbot of Saint Wandrile. Their son Warnhar was Count of Horbach and was the patriarch of the Widonids. Bertrada of Prüm (b. c. 670, d. after 721), the founder of the Prüm Abbey and mother of count Caribert of Laon, who was father of Bertrada of Laon, who in turn was mother of Charlemagne. Hugobert has been speculated by genealogists to have been ancestor of a number of powerful families of the Frankish nobility, including the Etichonids, Agilofings, Widonids, Carolingians and Robertians/Capetians, as well as the family of William of Gellone. All of these connections are speculative in nature.
