- Father: Heinrich VON BABENBERG
- Mother: Ingeltrude VON FRIAUL
- Birth: ABT 854, Ostfrankenreich

He was the youngest son of King Æthelwulf of Wessex and his first wife Osburh, daughter of Oslac" "Alfred was born in the royal estate of Wantage, historically in Berkshire but now in Oxfordshire, between 847 and 849. He was the youngest of six children, five sons and a daughter, born to King Æthelwulf of Wessex by his first wife, Osburh." "In 868, Alfred married Ealhswith, daughter of Æthelred Mucel and Eadburh. They had five children: - Æthelflæd - Edward - Æthelgifu - Æthelweard - Ælfthryth Alfred the Great (848/49 – 26 October 899) was king of the West Saxons from 871 to c. 886 and king of the Anglo-Saxons from c. 886 to 899 [therefore king in total from 871 to his death in 899; 28 years]. He was the youngest son of King Æthelwulf, who died when Alfred was young. Three of Alfred's brothers, Æthelbald, Æthelberht and Æthelred, reigned in turn before him. After ascending the throne, Alfred spent several years fighting Viking invasions. He won a decisive victory in the Battle of Edington in 878 and made an agreement with the Vikings, creating what was known as the Danelaw in the North of England. Alfred also oversaw the conversion of Viking leader Guthrum to Christianity. He defended his kingdom against the Viking attempt at conquest, becoming the dominant ruler in England. Details of his life are described in a work by 9th-century Welsh scholar and bishop Asser. Alfred had a reputation as a learned and merciful man of a gracious and level-headed nature who encouraged education, proposing that primary education be conducted in Old English rather than Latin and improving the legal system and military structure and his people's quality of life. He was given the epithet "the Great" in the 16th century. During his lifetime he was known as "King Alfred" as documented by Asser. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alfred_the_Great

- Occupation: 1st King of the Ostrogoths (-250), koning der Goten, 250
- Tribe Name: Greuthengi
- Title Of Nobility: King of the Greuthengi
- LifeSketch: Ben M. Angel summary: Ostrogotha is supposed to have been the King of the Goths that led the future Visigoths and Ostrogoths to the region north of the Black Sea. The Goths first emerge on the shores of the Black Sea with the 238 raid on the Roman settlement of Histria (present Lake Sinoe on the Romanian Dobruja coast) and the pressure they exerted on the ancient Bosporan Kingdom in Crimea during the reign of King Ininthimeus 235-240. By 242, the Romans had evacuated from their client state, abandoning it to the Goths. (The Goths, however, would not apparently make any serious effort to conquer this kingdom until 342, a year after the last known Bosporan coin was minted.) Speculation about Cniva, the known leader of the 250 Gothic punitive raid on the Roman Balkans, being Ostrogotha apparently comes from Jordanes, who described the same event in two sets of passages, depicting them as separate raids. Not much can be determined from creating a timeline for Ostrogotha's life, as the only two states with any recorded history that he made contact with were on the Black Sea (and timelines are provided in the About Me section of his descendants through to the next great Gothic King, Airmanareiks. ******** From "The Origins and Deeds of the Goths" - Jordane (97) So then, as we were saying, Fastida, king of the Gepidae, stirred up his quiet people to enlarge their boundaries by war. He overwhelmed the Burgundians, almost annihilating them, and conquered a number of other races also. He unjustly provoked the Goths, being the first to break the bonds of kinship by unseemly strife. He was greatly puffed up with vain glory, but in seeking to acquire new lands for his growing nation, he only reduced the numbers of his own countrymen. --- (98) For he sent ambassadors to Ostrogotha, to whose rule Ostrogoths and Visigoths alike, that is, the two peoples of the same tribe, were still subject. Complaining that he was hemmed in by rugged mountains and dense forests, he demanded one of two things,--that Ostrogotha should either prepare for war or give up part of his lands to them. (99) Then Ostrogotha, king of the Goths, who was a man of firm mind, answered the ambassadors that he did indeed dread such a war and that it would be a grievous and infamous thing to join battle with their kin,--but he would not give up his lands. And why say more? The Gepidae hastened to take arms and Ostrogotha likewise moved his forces against them, lest he should seem a coward. They met at the town of Galtis, near which the river Auha flows, and there both sides fought with great valor; indeed the similarity of their arms and of their manner of fighting turned them against their own men. But the better cause and their natural alertness aided the Goths. (100) Finally night put an end to the battle as a part of the Gepidae were giving way. Then Fastida, king of the Gepidae, left the field of slaughter and hastened to his own land, as much humiliated with shame and disgrace as formerly he had been elated with pride. The Goths returned victorious, content with the retreat of the Gepidae, and dwelt in peace and happiness in their own land so long as Ostrogotha was their leader.

- LifeSketch: Afranius Hannibalianus (fl. 3rd century) was the consul of 292 CE, a praetorian prefect, a senator and a military officer and commander. Believed to belong to a family who originated from the eastern provinces of the Roman empire, Hannibalianus was a military commander who served under the emperor Probus (r. 276-282). A member of the Equestrian order (as noted by the official reference to him as a vir eminentissimus, which was reserved for the equestrian order),[1] he probably was only adlected to the senatorial order after the death of Probus in AD 282.[2] He was elevated to the rank of Praetorian prefect of the west in AD 286 under Maximian, and had led the imperial armies to victory over the Germanic tribes along the Rhine in that year.[3] Hannibalianus held this rank until probably AD 292, when he was appointed consul prior alongside Julius Asclepiodotus. Then from AD 297-298, he served as the Praefectus urbi of Rome. Hannibalianus was possibly married to Eutropia, who divorced him to marry the emperor Maximian in around AD 287, but this has been contested.[4] If so, they had one daughter, Flavia Maximiana Theodora, who married the future emperor Constantius Chlorus.[5] It has been speculated that Hannibalianus’ acceptance of his wife’s new marriage as well as his position as step-father to the Caesar Constantius accounted for his rapid rise through the administrative offices of the empire.[6]

- Clan Name: Hasmonean (Maccabean) Dynasty
- LifeSketch: Antigonus II Mattathias (מתתיהו אנטיגונוס השני, Matityahu), also known as Antigonus the Hasmonean (died 37 BCE) was the last Hasmonean king of Judea. A puppet king installed by the Parthians, he was the son of King Aristobulus II of Judea. In 37 BCE Herod handed him over to the Romans for execution, after Antigonus's three-year reign during which he led the Jews' fierce struggle for independence against the Romans. Antigonus was the second son of Aristobulus II, and together with his father, were carried off as a prisoner to Rome by Pompey in 63 BCE. Antigonus eventually escaped and returned to Judaea in 57 BCE. Despite an unsuccessful attempt to oppose the Roman forces there, the senate released him, yet he refused to surrender his dynastic rights. After the death of his older brother Alexander, Antigonus claimed that his uncle Hyrcanus was a puppet of the Idumaean Antipater and attempted to overthrow him with the help and consent of the Romans. He visited Julius Caesar, who was in Syria in 47 BCE, and complained of the usurpation of Antipater and Hyrcanus. In 42 BCE, he attempted to seize the government of Judaea by force with the assistance of his brother-in-law, Ptolemy (son of Mennaeus), but was defeated by Herod. The excessive taxation wrung from the people to pay for the extravagances of Antony and Cleopatra had awakened a deep hatred against Rome. Antigonus gained the adherence of both the aristocratic class in Jerusalem and the leaders of the Pharisees. The Parthians, who invaded Syria in 40 BCE, preferred to see an anti-Roman ruler on the throne of Judaea. When Antigonus promised them large sums of gold as well as five hundred female slaves, the Parthians put five hundred warriors at his disposal. After Antigonus, with Parthian help, conquered Jerusalem, Hyrcanus was sent to Babylon after having his ears mutilated, which rendered him unfit for the office of high priest. Herod fled from Jerusalem. In 40 BCE Antigonus was officially proclaimed king and high priest by the Parthians. Following the conquest of Jerusalem by the Parthians, Herod fled quickly from Masada to Rome, where he was nominated in 40 BCE as the new king of Judea (Latin: Rex socius et amicus populi Romani, allied king and friend of the Roman people) by the Senate on the recommendation of the triumvir Mark Antony. On Herod's return to Judaea from Rome in 39 BCE he opened a campaign against Antigonus and laid siege to Jerusalem. In the spring of 38 BCE, Herod wrested control of the province of Galilee and eventually all of Judea other than Jerusalem. Due to the approach of winter, Herod postponed his siege of Jerusalem, where Antigonus and the remnants of his army took refuge, until spring. Herod and a supporting Roman army were kept out of Jerusalem for 3–5 months but the Romans did eventually capture the city. However, the supporters of Antigonus fought until the Romans reached the inner courtyard of the Temple. Antigonus was taken to Antioch and executed, ending Hasmonean rule. Josephus states that Mark Antony beheaded Antigonus (Antiquities, XV 1:2 (8–9). Roman historian Cassius Dio says that he was crucified and records in his Roman History: "These people [the Jews] Antony entrusted to a certain Herod to govern; but Antigonus he bound to a cross and scourged, a punishment no other king had suffered at the hands of the Romans, and so slew him." In his Life of Antony, Plutarch claims that Antony had Antigonus beheaded, "the first example of that punishment being inflicted on a king."

- Biography: ab 741/42 königlicher Pfalzgraf und 757 königlicher Missus in Italien Graf im Masuariergau (from 741/42 royal palatine and 757 royal missus in Italy count in Masuariangau)
- LifeSketch: Robert I, Rupert, (697 – 748), Count of Hesbaye and Duke of Neustria, son of Lambert. He was Count palatine under Childeric III. Robert married Williswinda, daughter of Adalhelm, Grundherr im Wormsgau. Robert and Williswinda had three children: . Cancor (d. 771), Count of Hesbaye and Rheingau . Anselm (killed in battle in Roncesvalles, Spain, 778), Count Palatine . Thuringbert Upon his death in 748, Robert was succeeded as count by his brother-in-law Signramnus, probably prior to his son Cancor coming of age. Primary sources In a charter of 741/2 which exists in several versions, wherein a Robert, son of Lambert, Count or Duke of the "pago Hasbaniensi et Masuarinsi", the land of Hasbanians and Masuarians, granted lands near Diest to Sint-Truiden Abbey. The third continuation of the Gesta Abbatum Trudonensium, in its report of the charter, describes Robert as Robertus comes vel dux Hasbanie ("count or Duke of Hasbania"). This Robert, the Gesta says, is also the one mentioned as a Duke in the medieval biography (Vita) of Bishop Eucherius of Orléans. When Charles Martel exiled Eucherius to Cologne this was under the custody of the said Duke Robert of Hasbania (Hasbanio Chrodoberto duce).
