- Birth: ABT 1289, Witnesham, Woodbridge, Suffolk, England
- Also known as: Jane Beaumont
- Alt. Death: Alt. Death
- LifeSketch: «b»Biography«/b» Joan Beaumont was born circa 1289, at Witnesham, Woodbrodge, Suffolk, England. Joan was married twice: Sir Giles de Braose of Stinton and Ludborough, who died before 6 February, 1311, with whom Joan had children: 1.) Richard de Breuse, born circa 1302, died before 1320; 2.) Robert de Brewes, born before 1305-6, died before 12 July, 1325; 3.) Sir John de Braose of Stinton and Ludsborough, born 10 August, 1306; Edmund Bacon married Joan de Brewes; Joan and Edmund had children: 1.) Margery Bacun, who was married to William de Kerdeston An Inquisition was taken after the death of Joan's first husband, Giles de Brewosa alias de Breuse, de Breouse, following a writ issued on 6 February, 1311, which found that his heir was Richard de Breuse, son of Giles and his wife, Joan, who was aged 9 that year. Giles, his wife, Joan, and their son Richard, held Lutheburgh, Lincolnshire, jointly by the gift of Roger de Breuse by fine levied in the king's court in 34 Edward I, to be held to them and the heirs of the body of Richard, with remainder to his brother, Robert, and the heirs of his body, with remainder to the right heirs of Giles. On 22 May 1325, from Bordeaux, Edmund of Woodstock, earl of Kent, sent a request to Hugh le Despenser, jnr, for Edmund Bacon to have the marriage of John de Braose, presumably Edmund's stepson who would have been 19 years old at the time. Joan Beaumont died in 1332. Joan's widower, Edmund Bacon, married Margery Pounynges, and died about the feast of the Annunciation 15 March, 1336.

\-Marguerite de Ramerupt DE ROUCY
- Birth: 863 BC, Jerusalem, Judea, Israel
- Also known as: Zibeah
- Also known as: Tsivia
- LifeSketch: PLEASE DO NOT MERGE THIS PERSON! A LOT OF RESEARCH TIME HAS AND IS BEING SPENT ON THIS FAMILY LINE. THANK YOU! When her husband died she killed all the royal princes except for Joash the youngest & put herself up as ruler. Joash was saved by an aunt & hidden in the temple buildings until he was 7 years old. She was killed when her son was proclaimed king. She had ruled for 7 years. _______________________________________________ Zibiah, or Sibia, (Hebrew: צִבְיָה; Tsivyah, "gazelle"[1]) was the consort of King Ahaziah of Judah, and the mother of King Jehoash of Judah. She was from Beersheba. She is mentioned only in 2 Kings 12:1 and 2 Chronicles 24:1, both references to her son's accession. The biblical references give no information about her other than her association with Beersheba and Joash. The fact that she was from Beersheba indicates a southern strategy by the king of Judah, trying to consolidate the control of the area. Zibiah is also a Hebrew given name.

- LifeSketch: Gurguit Barbtruc (Welsh: Gwrgant Farfdrwch) was a legendary king of the Britons as accounted by Geoffrey of Monmouth. He was the son of Belinus and was said to have found a home for the Irish people. Gurguit was a peaceful king who followed in the manner of his father and grandfather. Yet, when the king of the Danes refused to pay tribute to Belinus's son, Gurguit took a fleet and invaded Denmark, killing the king and reducing the country to subservience. On the return voyage, Gurguit came across a fleet of thirty ships of men and women, called Basclenses, under the leadership of Partholoim. They had been exiled from Spain and sought a new land to live in. Gurguit did not allow them to settle in Britain but he gave them the isle of Ireland to settle, which was (according to this fanciful legend) uninhabited until then, and thus the Basclenses became the Irish. Gurguit died peacefully and was buried in the Caerleon, a city he built up from the time his father founded it. Guithelin succeeded him to the kingship.
- Found under the leadership of Partholoim, 30 ships of Basclenses people, exiled from Spain: Gurguit Barbtruc allowed them to settle in Ireland
- Title Of Nobility: King of Britain - for 25 years
- Death: (Date and Place unknown)
- Burial: Caerleon on the River Usk, Newport, Wales

Robert de BELLESME Lord of Belleme et d'Alençon
\-Mathilde de Ganelon Hildeburg
- Father: Robert I DE TOSNY of Belvoir
- Mother: Adèle OSULE
- Birth: BET 1030 AND 1036, Belvoir Castle, Leicestershire, England
- Also known as: Robert of Tosny
- Also known as: Robert de Toeni
- Also known as: Robert de Toeni
- Title Of Nobility: Baron of Belvoir, 1086, Belvoir, Leicestershire, England
- LifeSketch: Robert de Todeni was a Norman nobleman who held lands in England after the Norman Conquest. Robert held lands in Guerny and Vesly in Normandy. The family was probably a branch of the Tosny family that originated near Eure in Normandy. In the Domesday Book of 1086, Robert is listed as the lord of Belvoir, Lincolnshire. This lordship is considered a feudal barony, making Robert the first baron of Belvoir. Besides the lands around Belvoir, Robert also received lands inYorkshire[and Leicestershire.[Thse lands had been held prior to the Conquest by Thorgautr Lagr and others. Robert's son Berengar was given Thorgautr's lands in Oxfordshire and Nottinghamshire, which he may have held from his father. Robert also had lands in Northamptonshire, located south of Rockingham. Three of these manors were previously owned by Oswulf, probably Oswulf son of Fran. Robert may have been the first castellan of Rockingham Castle. Robert and his wife founded Belvoir Priory, sometime between 1076 and 1088 as a priory of St Albans Abbey. The choice to make Belvoir a dependent priory of St Albans may have been because Oswulf, previous owner of some of his lands, had also given lands to St Albans. Robert married Adelais. They had three sons – Berengar, William, and Geoffrey – as well as Albreda, Adelisa, and Agnes. Berengar inherited the Norman lands and William inherited the English lands. All three sons died without offspring, leaving their sisters as the eventual heiresses. Albreda was the eldest daughter and married Robert de Insula and died before 1129 without issue.Adelisa married Roger Bigod, and died after August 1127.[Agnes, the youngest daughter, married first Ralph de Beaufour and second Hubert de Ryes. Belvoir eventually went to Cecilia Bigod, the youngest daughter of Adelisa and Roger and the Norman lands going to Hugh Bigod, son or Adelisa and Roger. Agnes is not recorded as having inherited any of lands connected with the barony of Belvoir. The historian Judith Green speculates that because Berengar did not inherit any of the English lands, he may have been the son of an earlier marriage of Robert's. Robert died around 1093, although some older sources give a date of 1088. He was buried at Belvoir Priory, according to the priory's own history. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_de_Todeni Robert de Todeni, or Todenei, the first feudal lord, or baron by tenure, of Belvoir Castle, died in 1088, leaving issue by his wife Adela, five children, of whom the eldest son and heir was Succession to the fee of Belvoir has been discussed as a problem several times over the years, but perhaps the issue is actually straightforward once one has identified the key players.[1] Domesday's Robert de Tosny of Belvoir was a collateral of his contemporaries Ralph and Roger. By c. 1050+ he had a first-born son Berengar who could expect to succeed his father in Normandy.[2] Around the time of Domesday Book, a few years before his death, Robert founded Belvoir priory with his wife Adelais. Early charters of Belvoir mention their sons William and Geoffrey and their daughter Agnes.[3] At his death, Robert's lands were divided between Berengar, his eldest son and Norman heir - co-incidentally an English tenant-in-chief in his own right - and his next son and English heir, William. Presumably some provision was made for the Third son Geoffrey. As it happened, all three sons were to die without issue, which meant that rights of succession passed to Robert's daughters. Initially, the sole right of succession passed to Robert's eldest daughter Albreda, who inherited the tenancies-in-chief of both her eldest brother Berengar and her younger brother William before the date of the Lindsey Survey, which shows her husband Robert de Insula in charge of both honours.[4] It has always been assumed that Albreda was the widow of Berengar who took his land to a second husband, but the idea is clearly untenable once the full story of the Belvoir succession unfolds. The references in confirmation charters of the Lincolnshire abbey of Newhouse to 'the fee of Albreda de Tosny' is an indication that the wife of Robert de Insula was a blood relative and heiress of Berengar, rather than his widow.[5] This view is confirmed by the necrology of Belvoir priory, where the anniversaries of Berengar and Albreda uxoreius, deo sancta (a phrase always referring to a religious in this document) were kept on 29 June.[6] All doubt is removed by a charter of c. 1147/52 in which Hugh Bigod made a grant to Kirkstall abbey for the soul of Albrede de Insula amite mee, a phrase that can only mean that Albreda was his mother's sister.[7] The phrase also usefully confirms that Albreda de Tosny and Albreda (wife of Robert) de Insula were the same." http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/b/r/u/Elmer-Gene-Bruner/GEN E4-0271.html

- Father: John Hyrcanus I BEN SIMON THASSI
- Mother: Maccabaeus bat HASMONEAN
- Birth: 127 BC, Judea
- Also known as: Alexander ינאי אלכסנדר Yannai
- Title Of Nobility: King of Judaea
- Clan Name: Hasmonean (Maccabean) Dynasty
- LifeSketch: Alexander Jannaeus was the third son of John Hyrcanus by his second wife. When Aristobulus I, Hyrcanus' son by his first wife, became king, he deemed it necessary for his own security to imprison his half-brother. Aristobulus died after a reign of one year. Upon his death, his widow, Salome Alexandra had Alexander and his brothers released from prison. One of these brothers is said to have unsuccessfully sought the throne. Alexander, as the oldest living brother, had the right not only to the throne, but also to Salome, the widow of his deceased brother, who had died childless; and, although she was thirteen years older than him, he married her in accordance with Jewish law. By her he had two sons: the eldest, Hyrcanus II, became high-priest in 62 BCE; and Aristobulus II, who was high-priest from 66 - 62 BCE and started a bloody civil war with his brother, ending in his capture by Pompey the Great. Like his brother, he was an avid supporter of the aristocratic priestly faction known as the Sadducees. His wife Salome on the other hand, came from a pharisaic family (her brother was Simeon ben Shetach, a famous Pharisee leader) and was more sympathetic to their cause and protected them throughout his turbulent reign. Like his father, Alexander also served as the high priest. This raised the ire of the religious authorities who insisted that these two offices should not be combined. According to the Talmud, Yannai was a questionable desecrated priest (rumour had it that his mother was captured in Modiin and violated) and, in the opinion of the Pharisees, was not allowed to serve in the temple. This infuriated the king and he sided with the Sadducees who defended him. This incident led the king to turn against the Pharisees and he persecute them until his death. Aristobulus was the younger son of Alexander Jannaeus, King and High Priest, and Alexandra Salome. After the death of Alexander in 76 BCE, his widow succeeded to the rule of Judea and installed her elder son Hyrcanus II as High Priest in 73 BCE.[1] When Salome died in 67 BCE, Hyrcanus succeeded to the kingship as well. Aristobulus shared his late father's views on religion and politics. He entertained designs upon the throne, even during the life of his mother. He courted the nobles and military party by constituting himself the patron of the Sadducees and bringing their cause before the queen. The many fortresses which the queen placed at the disposal of the Sadducees, ostensibly for their defense against the Pharisees, constituted in reality one of the preparatory moves of Aristobulus for the usurpation of the government. The queen sought to direct his military zeal outside Judea, and sent him (70-69) against Ptolemy Mennaeus; but when the undertaking failed, Aristobulus resumed his political intrigues. He left Jerusalem secretly and betook himself to his friends, who controlled the largest number of fortified places, with the intention of making war against his aged mother. But the queen died at the critical moment, and he immediately turned his weapons against his brother Hyrcanus, the legitimate heir to the throne.[2] Hyrcanus seemed to be sympathetic to the Sadducees just like his father Alexander Jannaeus. Aristobulus rebelled against his elder brother. Because of this conflict, the Pharisees seemed to be in a vulnerable position at this time.[3] Hyrcanus advanced against Aristobulus at the head of his mercenaries and his followers. The brothers met in battle near Jericho and many of Hyrcanus' soldiers went over to Aristobulus, and thereby gave the latter the victory. Hyrcanus took refuge in the citadel of Jerusalem; but the capture of the Temple by Aristobulus compelled Hyrcanus to surrender. A peace was then concluded, according to the terms of which Hyrcanus was to renounce the throne and the office of high priest, but was to enjoy the revenues of the latter office.[4] This agreement however did not last, as Antipater the Idumaean convinced Hyrcanus that Aristobulus was planning his death and to take refuge with Aretas III, King of the Nabataeans. The Nabataeans advanced toward Jerusalem with an army of 50,000 and besieged the city for several months. Roman intervention During this civil war, the Roman general Pompey defeated the Kingdoms of Pontus and the Seleucids. He sent his deputy Marcus Aemilius Scaurus to take possession of Seleucid Syria. As the Hasmoneans were allies of the Romans, both brothers appealed to Scaurus, each endeavoring by gifts and promises to win him over to his side. Scaurus, moved by a gift of 400 talents, decided in favor of Aristobulus and ordered Aretas to withdraw his army. During his retreat, the Nabateans suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of Aristobulus. When Pompey arrived in Syria in 63 BCE, both brothers and a third party that desired the removal of the entire dynasty, sent their delegates to Pompey, who however delayed the decision. He favoured Hyrcanus II over Aristobulus II, deeming the elder, weaker brother a more reliable ally of the Roman Empire. Pompey defeated the Jewish armies in multiple battles, and took the fortresses of Judea. Aristobulus and his sons Alexander and Antigonus were captured in 63 BCE. Aristobulos, suspicious of Pompey, entrenched himself in the fortress of Alexandrium, but when the Romans defeated his army again, he surrendered and undertook to deliver Jerusalem over to them. However, since many of his followers were unwilling to open the gates, the Romans besieged and captured the city by force, badly damaging city and temple. Hyrcanus was restored as High Priest, but deprived of political authority. Aristobulus II escaped in 57 BCE, instigating rebellion against Rome in Judea, until he was finally holed up by Aulus Gabinius, consul of the Roman province of Syria, in Machaerus. Marc Antony, commander of the cavalry under Gabinius, led several men to scale Aristobulus' fortifications and subdue his forces.[5] Taken prisoner, Aristobulus was released by Julius Caesar in 49 BCE in order to turn Judea against Pompey. He was on his way to Judaea with his son Alexander, when "he was taken off by poison given him by those of Pompey's party".[6] His son Alexander was beheaded by the Roman commander Scipio at Antioch.[7] His son Antigonus led a rebellion against Rome, with help from the Parthians, and became king and high priest in 40 BCE, but was defeated and killed by the Romans in 37 BCE.

- LifeSketch: John Hyrcanus II (hərˈkeɪnəs, יוחנן הורקנוס, Yohanan Hurqanos) (died 30 BCE), a member of the Hasmonean dynasty, was for a long time the Jewish High Priest in the 1st century BCE. He was also briefly King of Judea 67–66 BCE and then the ethnarch (ruler) of Judea, probably over the period 47–40 BCE. Hyrcanus was the eldest son of Alexander Jannaeus, King and High Priest, and Alexandra Salome. After the death of Alexander in 76 BCE, his widow succeeded to the rule of Judea and installed her elder son Hyrcanus as High Priest. When Salome died in 67 BCE, she named John Hyrcanus II as her successor as ruler of Judea as well, but soon he and his younger brother, Aristobulus II, dissented over the right to the throne. Hyrcanus had scarcely reigned three months when Aristobulus II rose in rebellion. Hyrcanus advanced against him at the head of his mercenaries and his followers. The brothers met in a battle near Jericho with many of Hyrcanus' soldiers going over to Aristobulus II, and thereby gave the latter the victory. Hyrcanus took refuge in the citadel of Jerusalem; but the capture of the Temple by Aristobulus II compelled Hyrcanus to surrender. A peace was then concluded in which Hyrcanus was to renounce the throne and the office of high priest, but was to enjoy the revenues of the latter office. This agreement did not last. Hyrcanus feared that Aristobulus was planning his death. Such fears were furthered by Hyrcanus' adviser, Antipater the Idumean. According to Josephus, Antipater sought to control Judea by putting the weak Hyrcanus back onto the throne. Hyrcanus took refuge with Aretas III, King of the Nabataeans, who had been bribed by Antipater into supporting Hyrcanus' cause through the promise of returning Arabian towns taken by the Hasmoneans. The Nabataeans advanced toward Jerusalem with an army of 50,000, took the city and besieged the Temple where Aristobulus had taken refuge for several months. During the siege, Josephus states that the adherents of Hyrcanus stoned the pious Onias (Honi ha'Me'agel, also Khoni or Choni ha-Me'agel), who had refused to pray for the demise of their opponents, and further angered the priests who were fighting along with Aristobulus by selling them cattle for the paschal sacrifice for the enormous price of one thousand drachmae and then refused to deliver the promised animals for the sacrifice.(Antiquities of the Jews Book 14, 2:2) During the Roman civil war, the Roman general Pompey defeated armies of the kingdoms of Pontus and the Seleucids. He sent his deputy Marcus Aemilius Scaurus to take possession of Seleucid Syria. As the Hasmoneans were allies of the Romans, both brothers appealed to Scaurus, each endeavouring through gifts and promises to win him over to his side. Scaurus, moved by a gift of 400 talents, decided in favour of Aristobulus and ordered Aretas to withdraw his army. During his retreat, the Nabateans suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of Aristobulus. Scaurus returned to Damascus. When Pompey arrived in Syria in 63 BCE, both brothers and a third party that desired the removal of the entire dynasty (according to some sources, these may have been the representatives of the Pharisees), sent their delegates to Pompey, who delayed making a decision. He favoured Hyrcanus over Aristobulus, deeming the elder, weaker brother a more reliable ally of the Roman Empire. Aristobulus, suspicious of Pompey's intentions, entrenched himself in the fortress of Alexandrium, but when the Roman army approached Judea, he surrendered and undertook to deliver Jerusalem over to them. However, since many of his followers were unwilling to open the gates, the Romans besieged and captured the city by force, badly damaging city and the temple. Aristobulus was taken to Rome a prisoner and Hyrcanus restored as high priest in Jerusalem. By around 63 BCE, Hyrcanus had been restored to his position as High Priest but not to the Kingship. Political authority rested with the Romans whose interests were represented by Antipater, who primarily promoted the interests of his own house. In 47 BCE, Julius Caesar restored some political authority to Hyrcanus by appointing him ethnarch. This however had little practical effect, since Hyrcanus yielded to Antipater in everything. In 40 BCE, Aristobulus' son Antigonus Mattathias allied himself with the Parthians and was proclaimed King and High Priest. Hyrcanus was seized and his ears mutilated (according to Josephus, Antigonus bit his uncle's ears off) to make him permanently ineligible for the priesthood. Then Hyrcanus was taken by the Parthians into captivity in Babylonia, where he lived for four years amid the Babylonian Jews, who paid him every mark of respect. In 36 BCE, Herod I, who had vanquished Antigonus with Roman help and feared that Hyrcanus might persuade the Parthians to help him regain the throne, invited the former High Priest to return to Jerusalem. Hyrcanus accepted and Herod received him with every mark of respect, assigning to him the first place at his table and the presidency of the state council. However, in 30 BCE Herod charged Hyrcanus with plotting with the Nabateans and put him to death. Josephus states that Hyrcanus was 80 years old at the time of his death.

- Father: Aristobulus IV SON OF HEROD by Mariamne I
- Mother: Berenice DAUGHTER OF COSTOBARUS of Judea
- Birth: ABT 6 BC, Judea, Roman Empire
- Also known as: Aristobulus the Younger son of Aristobulus IV by Berenice
- LifeSketch: Aristobulus Minor or Aristobulus the Younger (flourished 1st century BC and 1st century AD, died after 44) was a prince from the Herodian Dynasty. He was of Jewish, Nabataean and Edomite ancestry. He was the youngest son born to prince Aristobulus IV and princess Berenice of Judea. His parents were first cousins and thus Aristobulus was a grandson to Herod the Great. When growing up, he was educated along with his eldest brothers, Agrippa I and Herod of Chalcis in Rome, along with future Roman Emperor Claudius. Claudius and Aristobulus became friends and he became in high favor with the future emperor. Claudius and Aristobulus had sent letters to each other. Aristobulus lived at enmity with Agrippa I. Aristobulus denounced Agrippa I and forced him to leave from the protection of Flaccus, the Proconsul of Syria. Agrippa I was charged with bribing the Damascenes to support their cause with the Proconsul against the Sidonians. Aristobulus married Iotapa, a Syrian Princess from the Royal family of Emesa and daughter of King Sampsiceramus II and Queen Iotapa who ruled Emesa from 14-42. This marriage for Aristobulus was a promising marriage in dynastic terms. Iotapa and Aristobulus chose to live as private citizens in the Middle East. Iotapa and Aristobulus had a daughter called Iotapa, who was deaf and mute. Apart from their daughter, they had no further descendants. In the reign of Emperor Caligula 37-41, Aristobulus had opposed the emperor in setting up statues of himself in the Temple in Jerusalem. He survived his brother Agrippa I, who died in 44.

- LifeSketch: Alexander Maccabeus ( Ἀλέξανδρος, died 49 BC) was the eldest son of Aristobulus II, king of Judaea. He married his cousin Alexandra Maccabeus, daughter of his uncle, Hyrcanus II. Their grandfather was Alexander Jannaeus, the second eldest son of John Hyrcanus. Mariamne, the daughter of Alexander and Alexandra, was Herod the Great's second wife and Hasmonean queen of the Jewish kingdom. Alexander was taken prisoner, with his father and his brother Antigonus, by the Roman general Pompey, on the capture of Jerusalem in 63 BC, but escaped his captors as they were being conveyed to Rome. In 57 BC he appeared in Judaea, raised an army of 10,000 infantry and 1500 cavalry, and fortified Alexandrium and other strong posts. Alexander's uncle Hyrcanus (with whom Alexander's father Aristobulus had clashed) applied for aid to Aulus Gabinius, the Roman proconsul of Syria, who brought a large army against Alexander, and sent one of his cavalry commanders, the young Mark Antony in his first military command, with a body of troops in advance. In a decisive battle near Jerusalem, Alexander was soundly defeated, and took refuge in the fortress of Alexandrium. Through the mediation of his mother, he was permitted to depart, on condition of surrendering all the fortresses still in his power. In the following year, during the expedition of Gabinius into Egypt, Alexander again incited the Jews to revolt, and collected an army. He massacred all the Romans who fell in his way and besieged the rest, who had taken refuge on Mount Gerizim. After rejecting the terms of peace which were offered to him by Gabinius, he was defeated near Mount Tabor with the loss of 10,000 men. The spirit of his adherents, however, was not entirely crushed, for in 53, on the death of Marcus Licinius Crassus, he again collected some forces, but was compelled to come to terms by Cassius in 52. Three years later, in 49 BC, Caesar's Civil War broke out, and Julius Caesar set Alexander's father Aristobulus II free, and sent him to Judaea to further his interests there. He was poisoned on the journey, and Alexander, who was preparing to support him, was seized at the command of Pompey, and beheaded at Antioch.

- LifeSketch: Antigonus II Mattathias (מתתיהו אנטיגונוס השני, Matityahu), also known as Antigonus the Hasmonean (died 37 BCE) was the last Hasmonean king of Judea. A puppet king installed by the Parthians, he was the son of King Aristobulus II of Judea. In 37 BCE Herod handed him over to the Romans for execution, after Antigonus's three-year reign during which he led the Jews' fierce struggle for independence against the Romans. Antigonus was the second son of Aristobulus II, and together with his father, were carried off as a prisoner to Rome by Pompey in 63 BCE. Antigonus eventually escaped and returned to Judaea in 57 BCE. Despite an unsuccessful attempt to oppose the Roman forces there, the senate released him, yet he refused to surrender his dynastic rights. After the death of his older brother Alexander, Antigonus claimed that his uncle Hyrcanus was a puppet of the Idumaean Antipater and attempted to overthrow him with the help and consent of the Romans. He visited Julius Caesar, who was in Syria in 47 BCE, and complained of the usurpation of Antipater and Hyrcanus. In 42 BCE, he attempted to seize the government of Judaea by force with the assistance of his brother-in-law, Ptolemy (son of Mennaeus), but was defeated by Herod. The excessive taxation wrung from the people to pay for the extravagances of Antony and Cleopatra had awakened a deep hatred against Rome. Antigonus gained the adherence of both the aristocratic class in Jerusalem and the leaders of the Pharisees. The Parthians, who invaded Syria in 40 BCE, preferred to see an anti-Roman ruler on the throne of Judaea. When Antigonus promised them large sums of gold as well as five hundred female slaves, the Parthians put five hundred warriors at his disposal. After Antigonus, with Parthian help, conquered Jerusalem, Hyrcanus was sent to Babylon after having his ears mutilated, which rendered him unfit for the office of high priest. Herod fled from Jerusalem. In 40 BCE Antigonus was officially proclaimed king and high priest by the Parthians. Following the conquest of Jerusalem by the Parthians, Herod fled quickly from Masada to Rome, where he was nominated in 40 BCE as the new king of Judea (Latin: Rex socius et amicus populi Romani, allied king and friend of the Roman people) by the Senate on the recommendation of the triumvir Mark Antony. On Herod's return to Judaea from Rome in 39 BCE he opened a campaign against Antigonus and laid siege to Jerusalem. In the spring of 38 BCE, Herod wrested control of the province of Galilee and eventually all of Judea other than Jerusalem. Due to the approach of winter, Herod postponed his siege of Jerusalem, where Antigonus and the remnants of his army took refuge, until spring. Herod and a supporting Roman army were kept out of Jerusalem for 3–5 months but the Romans did eventually capture the city. However, the supporters of Antigonus fought until the Romans reached the inner courtyard of the Temple. Antigonus was taken to Antioch and executed, ending Hasmonean rule. Josephus states that Mark Antony beheaded Antigonus (Antiquities, XV 1:2 (8–9). Roman historian Cassius Dio says that he was crucified and records in his Roman History: "These people [the Jews] Antony entrusted to a certain Herod to govern; but Antigonus he bound to a cross and scourged, a punishment no other king had suffered at the hands of the Romans, and so slew him." In his Life of Antony, Plutarch claims that Antony had Antigonus beheaded, "the first example of that punishment being inflicted on a king."

- LifeSketch: The Gospel of Matthew and Gospel of Luke present an apparent problem by giving two genealogies for Jesus. (Matthew 1:7-16, Luke 3:23-31). Julius Africanus (about 160-about 240) attributed the difference to the custom of levirate marrige, under which a man was obliged to marry his brother's widow if the brother had died without children. According to Julius Africanius, the apparent problem can be explained in two stages. First, a woman named Estha married Matthan, a descendant of David through Solomon, and became the mother of Jacob. After Mathan's death she married Mathat, a descendant of David through Nathan, and became the mother of Heli. Jacob and Heli were, therefore, uterine brothers. Secondly, Heli married, but died without offspring. His widow, therefore, became the levirate wife of Jacob, and gave birth to Joseph, who was the carnal son of Jacob, but the legal son of Heli, thus combining in his person two lineages of David's descendants. This was the solution adopted by Saint Augustine. David Hughes in Davidic Dynasty gives the name Hazibah to the wife of Matthan, but she seems to be a modern invention. https://www.geni.com/people/Esthra-Estha/6000000004089124881?through=6000000007456718938 ________________________________________________ Heli (Miriam´s father) was the son of the future Maccabee Queen Alexandra II, who at this time was known by her Jewish name, Esther of Jerusalem. Heli, the shortened nickname for Helios (“The Sun”), was a descendant of both the Maccabee Kings of Judea and a prince of the House of David, for his father was Matthan ben Levi, a Davidian Prince who was first married in his youth to the vivacious royal princess, Elizabeth of Jerusalem.

- Father: John Hyrcanus I BEN SIMON THASSI
- Mother: Maccabaeus bat HASMONEAN
- Birth: 114 BC, Trachonitis, east of Galilee, Roman Empire
- Also known as: Hezekiah, the leader of the Zealots
- LifeSketch: Judas' father, Hezekiah, was named after one of the original zealot martyrs, killed in 47BCE whilst fighting Antipater, Herod’s father, for the rights of Jews to rule themselves. Hezekiah ben Matthan, like his namesake, Hezekiah ben Gurion, firmly believed it was not part of God’s covenant that Jews be destined to be slaves and pawns under the tyrannical rule of King Herod. They fought for the freedom of the Jews. Their ideology was not for political revolution, it was bound by the higher calling to preserve the integrity of Jewish life as taught by the Torah A martyr whom some scholars identify with Hezekiah ben Garon of the Talmud (Shab. 12a, 13b, 98b, 99a). He fought for Jewish freedom and the supremacy of the Jewish law at the time when Herod was governor of Galilee (47 B.C.). When King Aristobulus, taken prisoner by the Romans, had been poisoned by the followers of Pompey, Hezekiah ("Ezekias" in Josephus, "Ant." xiv. 9, §§ 2 et seq) gathered together the remnants of that king's army in the mountains of Galilee and carried on a successful guerrilla war against the Romans and Syrians, while awaiting the opportunity for a general uprising against Rome. The pious men of the country looked upon him as the avenger of their honor and liberty. Antipater, the governor of the country, and his sons, however, who were Rome's agents in Palestine, viewed this patriotic band differently. In order to curry favor with the Romans, Herod, unauthorized by the king Hyrcanus, advanced against Hezekiah, took him prisoner, and beheaded him, without the formality of a trial; and he also slew many of his followers. This deed excited the indignation of all the patriots. Hezekiah and his band were enrolled among the martyrs of the nation.

- Also known as: Yossef ben Jacob, or Joseph ben Heli [Husband of Mary]
- Also known as: Joseph "The Carpenter" of the Tribe of the Lions of Juda
- Occupation: Carpenter (artisan) of wood, possibly Iron
- Arrived about one week early for Passover: Arrived about one week early for Passover, 31 MAR 1 BC, Jerusalem, Judea, Roman Empire
- LifeSketch: Joseph, son of Heli, was born before April 21BC, but not to much earlier, as he was age 20 or older at time Jesus was born 6 Apr 1BC because he paid "To be taxed..." his temple tax. https://www.gotquestions.org/temple-tax.html He was probably born in Nazareth, as Luke 2:41,44 shows a family tradition of going back and froth from Nazareth to Jerusalem for Passover. He was living in Nazareth when he espoused Mary, probably not any earlier then summer 2BC, as most espousal's last about a year. Due to the usual circumstance of Mary's conception of Jesus, the espousal period was extend until Mary gave birth to Jesus. This would have helped ensure he "...knew her not till....". He was in Nazareth when he was informed in a dream June 2BC to keep Mary. Joseph was also living in Nazareth when the 5 Feb 2BC decree was being conducted "in those days" (of John's birth) there in the Fall of 2BC where he was registered. Luke 2:3,39 Shortly (6 months) after this, Joseph ALSO (Luke 2:4) went to Bethlehem to attended Passover with the rest of the family (Luke 2:41,44) Passover attracts 2.7 million attendees. Crowding the Inns. It's also the lambing season with shepherds out all night watching their flocks. Joseph also paid/registered his temple tax. Jesus was born 6 April 1BC. Probably assisted by mid-wife(s) in their company. After Jesus's birth, circumcision, Mary's purification and Jesus's presentation to the Lord in the temple, they returned to their own city of Nazareth after 16 May 1BC Sometime after Jesus's birth, Joseph and Mary were finally married. Probably after their 40 day stay in Bethlehem, shortly after their return to Nazareth. About 25 Dec 1BC, wise men appear at Joseph's house in Nazareth and worshipped and gifted Jesus. That night, Joseph was warned by an angel in a dream to flee to Egypt. They depart that very night. King Herod https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/M4QK-LW1 Later in Egypt, Joseph received another visit in dream and was instructed to return home to Nazareth Galilee. Apparently he was aware of the atrocities taking place under the new King Archelaus (G747-9BC) re the 3,000 killed on temple grounds cancelling the 27 Mar 1AD Passover, so he avoided Judea on his way back to Nazareth. Joseph and Mary had 4 sons named in scripture, and possible 3 daughters. Joseph and extended family attended Passover every year, in 12 AD, Jesus stayed behind and after a days journey, Joseph and Mary leaving children behind with family company, rushed back to Jerusalem to locate their lost Jesus. After 3 days, they found him and returned to Nazareth. Joseph is believed to have died between 12AD and 29 AD, as he is never mentioned again in scripture. Many place his death about 18AD. That Mary was a widow with 8 children, is reason Jesus had so much to say about widows and fatherless. It appears as Joseph's eldest (step) son, that Jesus was the patriarch of the family. And that he turned the reins over to his brother James (GHSC-G8T) at the cross.

- Father: Hormizd II of PERSIA
- Mother: Ifra-hormazd DE SEISTAN (KABOUL)
- Birth: ABT 300, Baghdād, Iraq
- Residence: 323
- LifeSketch: Hormizd (Middle Persian; in Ancient Greek: Ὁρμίσδας Hormisdas, Ormisdas; Persian: هرمز) was a Sassanid Persian prince, the third son of King Hormizd II and brother-in-law of King Shapur II. Imprisoned by him, he was freed by his wife in 323 and escaped to Constantinople, where Roman Emperor Constantine I helped him and gave him a palace near the shore of the Marmara Sea This palace became an important toponym of the city: its neighborhood (where the mosque of Little Hagia Sophia still stands) was known in Byzantine times as en tois Hormisdou (ἑν τοῖς Ὁρμίσδου), meaning "near the houses of Hormisdas". The palace became later the private residence of Byzantine Emperor Justinian I, before his accession to the throne. In 363, Hormizd served against Persia in the army of the Emperor Julian (361–363); in turn, his son, of the same name, later served as proconsul (Ammianus Marcellinus 26.8.12).
