- Father: Marcus Aemilius LEPIDUS PAULLUS

- Occupation: Quaestor, 59 BC, Roma, Roman Republic
- Occupation: Aedile, 55 BC, Roma, Roman Republic
- Occupation: Praetor, 53 BC, Roma, Roman Republic
- Occupation: Consul of Rome, 50 BC, Roma, Roman Republic
- LifeSketch: Wikiwand - Lucius Aemilius Paullus (flourished 1st century BC) was a Roman politician. He was the brother of triumvir Marcus Aemilius Lepidus and son to Marcus Aemilius Lepidus the consul of 78 BC. His mother may have been a daughter of Lucius Appuleius Saturninus. Paullus supported Cicero during the Catiline Conspiracy. He never supported Pompey, probably because he held a grudge against him for betraying his father in 77. Paullus was quaestor in 59 BC, aedile in 55, praetor in 53 and consul in 50. During Paullus' consulship, Julius Caesar bribed him for his support. He reconstructed the Basilica Aemilia in Rome, with part of his bribery money. According to Valerius Maximus: "When the senate decreed that the temples of Isis and Serapis be demolished and none of the workmen dared touch them, consul Lucius Aemilius Paullus took off his official gown, seized an axe, and dashed it against the doors of that temple", (I, 3.3; quoting Julius Paris (translation from Loeb edition). Paullus opposed the second triumvirate of Octavian, Mark Antony and Paullus' own brother, Marcus Lepidus. He supported Cicero in condemning its members. The triumvirs included him in their proscriptions. However, according to Cassius Dio, his brother allowed him to escape.[1] Lepidus' soldiers left him unhindered. Paullus joined the political rebel Marcus Junius Brutus. When Brutus died in 42, Paullus was pardoned and lived his remaining years at Miletus. Paullus' son, Paullus Aemilius Lepidus, was consul in 34 BC, and in 22 he shared the office of censor with Augustus.

- Birth: 120 BC, Roma, Roman Empire
- Occupation: Consul of Rome, 78 BC, Roma, Roman Republic
- LifeSketch: Wikiwand Marcus Aemilius Lepidus (120 BC – 77 BC) was a Roman statesman. After the death of Lucius Cornelius Sulla, he attempted to undermine the Sullan constitution and revive the "populares" faction. This brought him into conflict with the optimates whom Sulla had put back in power. In 77 BC, when he was recalled from his proconsulship of Gaul, he returned to Rome at the head of an army and an armed conflict erupted. Lepidus' forces were defeated in a battle near the Milvian Bridge and as a result his rebellion failed. He was the father of the triumvir Marcus Aemilius Lepidus and of one of the consuls for 50 BC Lucius Aemilius Lepidus Paullus. During the Social War Lepidus fought in northern Italy under Gnaeus Pompeius Strabo, who was consul in 89 BC. He was probably aedile while Sulla was in Greece fighting the First Mithridatic War. In 82 BC, during Sulla's second civil war, he fought for Sulla. He captured Norba, in Latium, which had sided with Sulla's enemies, the Marians. Appian wrote that after a long resistance, he was let in the town by treachery. This usually happened when a town could no longer endure a siege. Angered by the betrayal, some inhabitants killed themselves and some set fire to the town. Lepidus was the first governor of Sicily under Sulla’s regime. This was probably in 81 BC. We do not have any information about what he did when he was there. He had family ties to this province. Two members of his family had been governors in Sicily in 218 BC and 191 BC respectively. Cicero wrote that he had not committed fraud in regard to the grain supply. Pliny the Elder noted that Lepidus divorced his wife Appuleia. We do not know when this happened. She was related to Lucius Appuleius Saturninus. He enriched himself during Sulla's proscriptions. Pliny the Elder thought that he had the most beautiful house in Rome, with marble thresholds and shields with the battle scenes of Troy.

- Father: Johanan ben Jehoiada HA-KOHEN
- Birth: ABT 400 BC, Jerusalem, Judea, Roman Empire
- Also known as: Juddual or Jaddual ben Jonathan ha-Kohen
- Also known as: Jadduah Ben Johanan ha-Kohen High Priest of the Zadok
- Title Of Nobility: 36th High Priest of Israel
- Clan Name: tribe of Levi
- LifeSketch: Jaddua was a son of Jonathan and a high priest during the post-exilic period. However, according to Nehemiah 12:22 it is possible that a transcribing error has occurred in the rendering of Jaddua's father's name. A more likely translation is that Jaddua's father was Johanan. (Anchor Bible Dictionary). Reference to Jaddua may be found in Nehemiah verses 12:11,22. When reading Josephus' accounts of Jaddua's priestly position, it is unclear whether or not Jaddua was the sole high priest or if he shared the office with Manasseh. The other possibility (which is difficult to discern from Josephus' accounts) is that Manasseh was Jaddua's assistant or sagan. (Anchor Bible Dictionary). Jaddua’s brother, Manasseh, married into the gubernatorial Samarian family. The governor's daughter, Nicaso, was given to Manasseh in marriage to try to ease the tensions that existed between the Samaritans and the Jews. This posed a problem for the Jewish elders as they did not want the high priesthood being tainted should Manasseh try to partner Jaddua as a priest. There are elders in Jerusalem who had the ability and authority to force Manasseh “either to divorce his faith or not to approach the altar.” (Vanderkam). In this dispute, Jaddua himself took the side of the elders of Jerusalem. Although the elders exercised authority, Jaddua was the top authority. In an account of the Jewish historian Josephus, it is speculated that the reason the elders opposed Manasseh’s marriage was that they resented “the fact that the brother of the high priest Jaddua was sharing the high priesthood while married to a foreigner.” This marriage could possibly be the beginning of an office known as a sagan which later became the second highest priestly position. Because the high priest was the supreme civil and religious head of the Jewish people and the only competing authority would be the elders, Alexander naturally targeted Jaddua. Manasseh was not willing to "be deprived of his sacerdotal dignity on Nicaso's account." Consequently, the Governor bribed Manasseh to keep Nicasco as his wife pending the permission of the king Alexander. Meanwhile, Jaddua had a dream that he would be protected by God from the king Alexander as Alexander was perusing to conquer Jerusalem. Upon seeing Jaddua, Alexander relented his pursuit as he too had a dream seeing a figure who took the form of Jaddua. Alexander agreed to let Jaddua and the Jews keep the laws of their forefathers in return for military cooperation. Josephus included an account of Alexander reading the book of Daniel and believing that the prophecy regarding the destruction of the Persian Empire was talking about him and his future conquests. The account details Alexander's visit to Jerusalem. *from Wikipedia* __________________________________________________ 371bc - 320bc - Jaddua - Neh. 12:10, 22, the last high priest mentioned in the Old Testament. Served the Persians during their declining years. When Alexander had defeated Tyre and drove Darius Codomanus back east, Jaddua was convinced Alexander the Great was the goat prophecied by Daniel. When Alexander approached Jerusalem , Jaddua went out to meet him, not with an army, but dressed as a priest and carrying the scrolls of prophecy concerning Alexander's coming.

- LifeSketch: Pompeia Magna (about 42 BC - ?) was the daughter and only child of political rebel Sextus Pompey and Scribonia. Pompeia was the only child born to the sons of triumvir Pompey. In 39 BC, at the peace of Misenum, Sextus Pompey had betrothed Pompeia to Marcus Claudius Marcellus, the nephew to the heir of Roman Dictator Julius Caesar, Octavian, and a son to Octavian’s elder sister Octavia Minor. Pompeia and Marcellus in the end never married. She accompanied her father as they fled into Anatolia in 36 BC. After this moment, Pompeia is not mentioned again in Roman sources. In the past it was commonly held based on speculation that she had married her maternal uncle Libo, but this has been largely rejected by modern scholars.

Libo rose to prominence through his connections with Pompey. When Julius Caesar rebelled against the Roman Senate in 49 BC, Libo sided with Pompey. He carried out a variety of military, diplomatic and naval roles, with mixed success. After Pompey's death in 48 BC, Libo attached himself to Pompey's son, Sextus Pompey, Libo's son-in-law due to his marriage to Libo's daughter Scribonia. Libo was involved in a variety of negotiations with Octavian. In 35 BC Libo abandoned Sextus and was rewarded by being appointed consul in 34 BC. Early career and the Civil War Libo's father of the same name was the praetor, or chief judicial officer, in 80 BC, and his mother was Cornelia Sulla - the daughter of Pompeia Magna (and so was the granddaughter of Pompey the Great) and her first husband Faustus Cornelius Sulla, the only son of the dictator Sulla.[1][2][3][4] Libo was a member of the Scribonia family, which was plebeian, not a member of the ruling elite. He was closely connected to the family of Pompey through his grandmother Pompeia Magna. Ties were strengthened in 55 BC after Pompey's son, Sextus Pompey, married Libo's daughter, Scribonia.[5] It is assumed Libo reached the office of praetor by 50 BC.[6] In 50 BC the Senate, led by Pompey, ordered populist politician and general Julius Caesar to disband his army and return to Rome because his term as governor had ended.[7] Caesar thought he would be prosecuted if he entered Rome without the immunity enjoyed by a magistrate. On 10 January 49 BC Caesar crossed the Rubicon river, and ignited Caesar's Civil War. He marched rapidly on Rome and captured it. Pompey and most of the Senate fled to Greece. Libo was appointed one of Pompey's legates, a high-ranking military position, and was given command of Etruria.[8] After Libo was driven from Etruria by Mark Antony, he took over command of the new recruits in Campania from Ampius Balbus.[9] He then accompanied Pompey during his withdrawal to Brundisium, and there he acted as Pompey's intermediary with Gaius Caninius Rebilus, a close personal friend, who had been given the task by Julius Caesar of negotiating with Pompey.[10] Rebilus advised Libo that if he could convince Pompey to reach an agreement with Caesar, Caesar would give credit to Libo for halting the civil war before it began in earnest. Although Libo reported Caesar's proposals, Pompey told Libo he could not agree to anything without the consuls being present.[11] Following Pompey to Macedonia, Libo was placed in charge of part of Pompey's fleet alongside Marcus Octavius, with instructions to prevent Caesar's forces crossing if possible.[12] Off the Dalmatian coast they defeated a fleet under the command of Publius Cornelius Dolabella. They followed this up by defeating Gaius Antonius, who had attempted to assist Dolabella, and who was forced to flee to Corcyra Nigra. Short of supplies, he soon surrendered to Libo who took him and his troops to Pompey.[13] By the time Caesar landed in Epirus and had taken Oricum, Pompey had sent Libo to join Marcus Calpurnius Bibulus, who was in charge of Pompey's fleet and was blockading Caesar at Oricum, but who was ill and unable to get fresh supplies.[14] In order to break the stalemate, Bibulus and Libo sailed towards Oricum and requested a truce in order to negotiate with Caesar. Caesar agreed and Libo attempted to deceive Caesar into thinking that they were acting on Pompey's instructions.[15] When Caesar was unable to make Libo agree to give safe conduct to Caesar's envoys, Caesar concluded that the negotiations were a sham designed to allow Bibulus to resupply his ships, and so refused to extend the truce and broke off negotiations.[16] With Bibulus's death in early 48 BC, Libo was given command of the Pompeian fleet, comprising some fifty galleys.[17] He continued blockading Oricum, but came to the conclusion that, if he could close off Brundisium from the sea, he could cut Caesar off from reinforcements, and could redeploy the fleet elsewhere. Moving off to Brundisium, he caught the local commander, Mark Antony, unprepared. Libo burnt a number of storage ships, captured one full of grain, and landed troops on the island that commanded the entrance to the harbour, expelling a squad of Antony's troops in the process. Confident of success, he sent a letter to Pompey, advising him that he had secured the harbour and that the rest of the fleet should be repaired and rested.[18] Antony, however, managed to trick Libo into pursuing some decoy ships, causing Libo's squadron to be attacked. Most of Libo's fleet managed to escape, but the troops he landed on the island were trapped and captured.[19] Later career Roman senators With the defeat and death of Pompey in 48 BC, Libo attached himself to Pompey's son, Sextus Pompey. Sextus was Libo's son-in-law due to his marriage to Libo's daughter Scribonia.[20] In 40 BC, Sextus sent him as an unofficial envoy to Mark Antony in Greece, seeking an alliance against Octavian (later known as Augustus), who had just defeated Antony's partisans in the Perusine War, and was instrumental in forming an alliance between the two.[21] Octavian attempted to drive a wedge between Sextus Pompey and Mark Antony by marrying Libo's sister, Scribonia.[22] In the subsequent Pact of Misenum, Libo acted as an important negotiator; in return for his support, Sextus managed to extract from Octavian the promise of a future consulate for Libo.[23] After Octavian renewed the war against Sextus Pompey in 36 BC, Libo initially supported him. By 35 BC Libo felt his son-in-law's cause was lost; he abandoned Sextus and joined Mark Antony.[24] As a reward, Antony ensured that Libo was elected consul in 34 BC alongside himself.[25] He left office on 1 July, and was replaced by Gaius Memmius.[26] By the time he became a consul he had been appointed as one of the seven Septemviri epulones, the religious body responsible for organising feasts and public banquets for festivals and games in Rome. It is believed that he died shortly after stepping down from his consulship.[27] Family Libo was the maternal uncle to consul Publius Cornelius Scipio, Cornelia Scipio and Julia the Elder. The name of his wife is not known, but she was a member of the gens Sulpicius, the family from which Roman Emperor Galba would claim descent on his paternal side.[28][29] Libo and wife had three children: two sons, Lucius Scribonius Libo, consul of AD 16; Marcus Scribonius Libo Drusus; and a daughter, Scribonia, who married Sextus Pompey.

- Mother: Tertulla spouse of Marcus Licinius CRASSUS
- Birth: BET 86 BC AND 82 BC, Roma, Roman Republic
- LifeSketch: Wikipedia - Publius Licinius Crassus (86 or 82 BC – 53 BC) was one of two sons of Marcus Licinius Crassus, the so-called "triumvir",[1] and Tertulla, daughter of Marcus Terentius Varro Lucullus.[2] He belonged to the last generation of Roman nobiles who came of age and began a political career before the collapse of the Republic. His peers included Marcus Antonius, Marcus Junius Brutus, Decimus Junius Brutus Albinus, the poet Gaius Valerius Catullus, and the historian Gaius Sallustius Crispus. Publius Crassus served under Julius Caesar in Gaul from 58 to 56 BC. Too young to receive a formal commission from the senate, Publius distinguished himself as a commanding officer in campaigns among the Armorican nations (Brittany) and in Aquitania. He was highly regarded by Caesar and also by Cicero, who praised his speaking ability and good character. Upon his return to Rome, Publius married Cornelia Metella, the intellectually gifted daughter of Metellus Scipio, and began his active political career as a triumvir monetalis and by providing a security force during his father's campaign for a second consulship. Publius's promising career was cut short when he died along with his father in an ill-conceived[3] war against the Parthian Empire. Cornelia, with whom he probably had no children, then married the much older Pompeius Magnus ("Pompey the Great"). Early life Scholarly opinion is divided as to whether Publius or his brother Marcus was the elder, but with Roman naming conventions, the eldest son almost always carries on his father's name, including the praenomen, or first name, while younger sons are named for a grandfather or uncle.[4] The achievements of Publius, named after his grandfather (consul in 97 BC) and uncle, eclipse those of his brother to such an extent that some have questioned the traditional birth order.[5] Both Ronald Syme and Elizabeth Rawson, however, have argued vigorously for a family dynamic that casts Marcus as the older but Publius as the more talented younger brother.[6] Family environment Publius grew up in a traditional household that was characterized by Plutarch in his Life of Crassus as stable and orderly. The biographer is often harshly critical of the elder Crassus's shortcomings, particularly moralizing his greed, but makes a point of contrasting the triumvir's family life. Despite his great wealth, Crassus is said to have avoided excess and luxury at home. Family meals were simple, and entertaining was generous but not ostentatious; Crassus chose his companions during leisure hours on the basis of personal friendship as well as political utility.[7] Although the Crassi, as noble plebeians, would have displayed ancestral images in their atrium,[8] they did not lay claim to a fictionalized genealogy that presumed divine or legendary ancestors, a practice not uncommon among the Roman nobility.[9] The elder Crassus, even as the son of a consul and censor, had himself grown up in a modestly kept and multigenerational house;[10] the passage of sumptuary laws had been among his father's political achievements.[11] In marrying the widow of his brother,[12] who had been killed during the Sullan civil wars, Marcus Crassus observed an ancient Roman custom that had become old-fashioned in his own time. Publius, unlike many of his peers, had parents who remained married for nearly 35 years, until the elder Crassus's death;[13] by contrast, Pompeius Magnus married five times[14] and Julius Caesar at least three.[15] Crassus remained married to Tertulla "despite attacks on her reputation."[16] It was rumored that a family friend, Quintus Axius of Reate,[17] was the biological father of one of her two sons. Plutarch reports a joke by Cicero that made reference to a strong resemblance between Axius and one of the boys.[18] Education The Peripatetic philosopher Alexander[19] was attached to the household of Crassus and is likely to have contributed to the education of the boys.[20] Although his poor remuneration is noted as evidence of Crassus's parsimony,[21] it has been suggested that in failing to enrich himself at Crassus's expense Alexander asserted a positive philosophical stance disregarding material possessions.[22] The Peripatetics of the time differed little from the Old Academy represented by Antiochus of Ascalon, who placed emphasis on knowledge as the supreme value and on the Aristotelian conception of human beings as by nature political (a zōon politikon, "creature of politics"). This view of man as a "political animal" would have been congenial to the family political dynamism of the Licinii Crassi.[23] Cicero praised Publius Crassus for his character and speaking ability The Peripatetics and Academics, according to Cicero, provided the best oratorical training;[24] while the Academics drilled in rebuttal, he says, the Peripatetics excelled at rhetorical theory and also practiced debating both sides of an issue.[25] The young Crassus must have thrived on this training, for Cicero praises his abilities as a speaker and in the Brutus places him in the company of gifted young orators whose lives ended before they could fulfill their potential:[26] He had been extremely well educated, and was perfectly well versed in every branch of polite literature: he had likewise a penetrating genius, and an elegant variety of expression; and appeared grave and sententious without arrogance, and modest and diffident without dejection.[27] The secondary education of a Roman male of the governing classes typically required a stint as a contubernalis (literally a “tentmate”,[28] a sort of military intern or apprentice) following the assumption of the toga virilis around the age of 15 and before assuming formal military duties. Publius, his brother Marcus, and Decimus Brutus may have been contubernales during Caesar's propraetorship in Spain (61–60 BC). Publius's father and grandfather had strong ties to Spain: his grandfather had earned his triumph from the same province of Hispania Ulterior, and during Sulla's first civil war his father had found refuge among friends there, avoiding the fate of Publius's uncle and grandfather. Caesar's field commission of Publius in Gaul indicates a high level of confidence, perhaps because he had trained the young man himself and knew his abilities.[29] Little else is known about Publius's philosophical predispositions or political sympathies. Despite his active support on behalf of his father in the elections for 55 BC and his ties to Caesar, he admired and was loyal to Cicero and played a mediating role between Cicero and the elder Crassus, who was often at odds with the outspoken orator.[30] In his friendship with Cicero, Publius showed a degree of political independence. Cicero seems to have hoped that he could steer the talented young man away from a popularist and militarist path toward the example of his consular grandfather, whose political career was traditional and moderate, or toward modeling himself after the orator Licinius Crassus about whom Cicero so often wrote.[31] Cicero almost always speaks of young Crassus with approval and affection, criticizing only his impatient ambition.[32]

- Birth: ABT 420, Gaul, Roman Empire
- Title Of Nobility: Bishop of Limoges, BET 485 AND 510, Limoges, Kingdom of Aquitaine, Gaul, Frankish Empire
- LifeSketch: Ruricius of Limoges Ralph W. Mathisen Born circa 440 CE and related to the aristocratic Anician family of Rome, the Gallo-Roman Ruricius (d. 510 CE) became bishop of Limoges circa 485 CE. He is known primarily for his unpretentious collection of 83 letters, which survives in a single manuscript and portrays everyday life in Visigothic Aquitania in the decades after the fall of the Western Roman Empire. Family Background Even though some 83 of Ruricius’ personal letters survive, few events in his life can be dated with any certainty. Given that one of his sons was a relatively senior cleric by the late 480s CE and that he seems to have been rather younger than Sidonius Apollinaris, who was born circa 432 CE, Ruricius probably was born circa 440 CE (Mathisen, 1999, 19–31; Settipani, 1991). Ruricius is equally uncommunicative about his place of origin. Even though he later served as bishop of Limoges, he gives no indication that this was his native place. The places Ruricius does mention all are to the south, such as his villa Decaniacum, modern Dégagnac, in the territory of Cahors (Aussel, 1988). Ruricius was related to the Anicii, one of the premier senatorial families of late Roman Italy (Mathisen, 1999, 21). He received the standard classical education and was well versed in both secular and ecclesiastical literature. His use of legal terminology in several letters suggests that he had legal training. He may have served as an advocatus (advocate), a position often held by young aristocrats beginning a secular career. Otherwise, his youth may have been spent in enjoyment of typical aristocratic otium (leisure). Circa 460 CE, Ruricius married Hiberia, a woman of patrician ancestry who was related to the family of the Gallic emperor Eparchius Avitus (455–456 CE; Mathisen, 1999, 22). Ruricius corresponded with some of the most influential individuals of south-central Gaul, including Bishops Aeonius and Caesarius of Arles, and Faustus of Riez, not to mention Sidonius Apollinaris, prefect of Rome in 468 CE and later bishop of Clermont, and his son Apollinaris. Ruricius and Hiberia had no known daughters and five sons, Ommatius, Eparchius, Constantius, Leontius, and Aurelianus. Ommatius and Eparchius appear to have entered the clergy at Clermont. Ruricius was a devoted, and rather indulgent, father. Ruricius also had several grandchildren and at least one great-grandchild. One of his grandchildren, Ruricius Proculus, also served as bishop of Limoges in the second quarter of the 6th century CE (Mathisen, 1999, 257). Ruricius’ most important legacy is his correspondence collection, which survives only in a single manuscript, the Codex Sangallensis 190, written circa 800 CE (Hagendahl, 1952; Duchein, 1951; Mathisen, 1998; 1999; Neri, 2009). It is divided into two books of very unequal length. The first has 18 letters and the second 65, giving a total of 83. The exchange of letters was one of the primary means by which Gallic aristocrats maintained contact with each other. It was viewed as a grave fault if someone missed the chance to send a letter when the opportunity arose. Ruricius’ collection also contains 12 letters, by seven different persons, that were written to Ruricius, nearly all of which are connected to letters from him (Mathisen, 1999, 52). They therefore provide a rare opportunity to see sequences of letters in an exchange, and they show how Gallo-Roman writers tailored their interactions to each others’ individual needs, expectations, and personalities. Ruricius’ correspondence provides a valuable adjunct to the letters of politically active Gauls such as Paulinus of Nola, Augustine of Hippo, Sidonius Apollinaris, Avitus of Vienne, and Ennodius of Pavia, not only for their local flavor, but also because only the letters of Ruricius’ cover the period from circa 470 until circa 507 CE, the crucial transitional phase between imperial and barbarian Gaul. Ruricius experienced the last days of the Roman Empire, and both the apogee and the precipitous decline of the kingdom of Toulouse. By the end of his life, it was clear that the subsequent history of Gaul would be determined not by Romans or Visigoths, but by Franks.

- Father: Marcus Livius Drusus of ROME
- Mother: Cornelia Scipionis
- Birth: ABT 122 BC, Roma, Roman Republic
- Occupation: Praetor, 81 BC, Roman, Roman Republic
- Occupation: Consul of Rome, 77 BC, Roma, Roman Republic
- LifeSketch: Wikipedia Mamercus Aemilius Lepidus Livianus Spouse(s) Cornelia Sulla Children Aemilia Lepida Parents Marcus Livius Drusus (father) Cornelia (mother) Mamercus Aemilius Lepidus Livianus (died c. 62 BC)[1] was a Roman politician and military commander who was consul in 77 BC. Biography Livianus was a well connected and influential figure in Late Republican politics. A member of the aristocratic party, brother of the tribune Marcus Livius Drusus and son of the consul Marcus Livius Drusus, he was adopted into the Aemilii Lepidi.[2] His influence was such that he was able to intercede with Lucius Cornelius Sulla on the young Julius Caesar's behalf, getting Sulla to spare Caesar's life.[3] He was also married to Cornelia, Sulla's daughter. Around 91 BC Livianus succeeded his brother Marcus Livius Drusus as one of the pontifices in the College of Pontiffs.[4] He served with distinction in the Social War (91–87 BC), probably serving as legate under Quintus Caecilius Metellus Pius. He achieved some victories, most notably he was credited with killing the general of the Marsi, Quintus Poppaedius Silo, during the storming of Venusia.[5] Although having failed once to be elected praetor, Livianus tried again, achieving the office by 81.[6] He ran for the office of consul in 77, achieving it only after Gaius Scribonius Curio withdrew his candidature for that year in favor of Livianus.[7] Neither Mamercus nor his consular colleague accepted a proconsular command in Hispania to help Quintus Caecilius Metellus Pius in the Sertorian War.[8] There is no evidence that he obtained a provincial command after his term was concluded.[9] Following his term as consul Livianus was probably a promagistrate serving under Marcus Antonius Creticus in 74, who had been given an extraordinary commission to clear the Mediterranean Sea of pirates operating from Crete.[10] By 70, he may have been Princeps Senatus, although the evidence is inconclusive.[11] He was called as a hostile witness against Gaius Cornelius in 65, as part of the events surrounding the First Catilinarian Conspiracy.[12] Family Livianus had a daughter named Aemilia Lepida who was engaged to her cousin Cato for a time.[13] Aemilia married Quintas Caecilius Metellus Pius Scipio Nasica instead.

- Also known as: King Tenefan Tasciovanus OF CATUVELLAUNI
- Also known as: Tenvantius Tasciovanus
- Also known as: Tenacius or Tenuantius Theomantius of Briton
- Title Of Nobility: He appears to have become king of the Catuvellauni, ruling from Verlamion (the site of modern-day St Albans).
- Reigned from 48 BC - 20 BC: King of Briton
- LifeSketch: Tasciovanus was a historical king of the Catuvellauni tribe before the Roman conquest of Britain. «b»History«/b» Tasciovanus is known only through numismatic evidence. He appears to have become king of the Catuvellauni c. 20 BC, ruling from Verlamion (the site of modern-day St Albans). He is believed to have moved the tribal capital to that site from an earlier settlement, near modern-day Wheathampstead. For a brief period c. 15-10 BC he issued coins from Camulodunum (Colchester), apparently supplanting Addedomarus of the Trinovantes. After this he once again issued his coins from Verlamion, now bearing the legend RICON, for Rigonos, Common Brittonic for "great/divine/legitimate king". Some of his coins bear other abbreviated names such as "DIAS", "SEGO" and "ANDOCO": these are generally considered to be the names of co-rulers or subordinate kings, but may instead be mint-marks. He died c. AD 9, succeeded by his son Cunobeline, who ruled primarily from Camulodunum. Another son, Epaticcus, expanded his territory westwards into the lands of the Atrebates. «b»Medieval traditions«/b» A genealogy preserved in the medieval Welsh manuscript Harleian 3859 (see Harleian genealogies) contains three generations which read "Caratauc map Cinbelin map Teuhant". This is the equivalent of "Caratacus, son of Cunobelinus, son of Tasciovanus", putting the three historical figures in the correct order, although the wrong historical context, the degree of linguistic change suggesting a long period of oral transmission. The remainder of the genealogy contains the names of a sequence of Roman emperors, and two Welsh mythological figures, Guidgen (Gwydion) and Lou (Lleu). He appears in Geoffrey of Monmouth's Historia Regum Britanniae (1136) as the legendary king Tenvantius, son of Lud. When his father died, he and his older brother Androgeus were still minors, so the kingship of Britain was given to their uncle Cassibelanus. Tenvantius was made Duke of Cornwall, and participated in his uncle's defence of Britain against Julius Caesar. Androgeus went to Rome with Caesar, so when Cassibelanus died, Tenvantius succeeded him as king. He was in turn succeeded by his son Kimbelinus (Cunobeline), who had been brought up at the court of Augustus. In Middle Welsh versions of Geoffrey's Historia his name appears as Teneufan and Trahayant. He under the name of Tenewan ap Lludd (Geoffrey of Monmouth's version) is claimed as a paternal ancestor in the Mostyn Ms. 117 by the Mathrafal Dynasty and therefore subsequently the Kings of Rhwng Gwy Y Hafren also.
