- LifeSketch: From the History of the Putnam Family in England and America, (Richard Upham (and 1st wife Elisabeth), mentioned - as well as his 2nd wife, Elizabeth (Nurse) Putnam): "Timothy Putnam, (Stephen, Benjamin, Nathaniel, John), born in Salem Village, 10 Jan. 1725; died 1756, will dated 4 Aug. 1756; proved 4 July 1757; married, 1755, Elizabeth (Nurse) Putnam, widow of Caleb Putnam; she married, third, previous to 1759, Richard Upham, of Reading, and moved to Nova Scotia. Children: Timothy, b. 1756; after his father's death; bapt. 14 Nov. 1756. Timothy Putnam joined the church, 27 April 1755; this was probably about the time he married. He had held a few minor town offices previous to 1755. On 8 March 1756, he was elected tythingman. Various Danvers historians have stated that Timothy was a Tory, probably because his descendants are now residents in Nova Scotia. Such could not be the case as he died in 1756; his father's will made in 1769 does not mention him. His widow had formerly been wife of Caleb Putnam and by him had three sons. After the death of Timothy Putnam she married, and previous to 1759, Richard, son of Richard and Abigail (Hovey) Upham of Topsfield and Reading, bapt. 9 Dec. 1716. Richard Upham's first wife was also Elizabeth and she died 7 June 1756. In 1759, Richard Upham, with wife Elizabeth, deeded land. In 1773, Elizabeth, wife of Richard Upham, of Onslow, Nova Scotia, was heir, with William and Caleb Putnam (her children by her first husband Caleb Putnam) to a Putnam estate in Essex Co., (see Essex Deeds). By her third husband, Richard Upham, she had Richard, bapt. 28 May 1758. Mary, bapt. 5 April 1761. In 1758, Richard Upham was of Boston (see Vol 23, NEH Gen. Reg.) It is probable that Richard Upham and family removed to Nova Scotia and settled in Onslow township in 1761. Haliburton says, in his history of Nova Scotia, "The first British settlers came from the Province of Massachusetts and were of various origin. They landed in Onslow in the summer of 1761, to the number of thirty families...they were compelled to undergo the most severe privations...During the second year the government supplied them with Indian corn...On their arrival they found the country laid waste to prevent the return of the Acadians, but 570 acres of marsh land were still under dyke, and about 40 acres of upland round the ruins of the houses were cleared...Remains of the French roads...are still visible, as also parts of their bridges...the settlers encountered great difficulty in procuring their grant and it was different from what they had been led to expect." This grant was registered on 23 Feb. 1769. The Acadians, or French neutrals, had been forcibly and cruelly removed from these lands by the British government in the fall of 1755. The present family of Putnam in Nova Scotia, settled principally in Truro, are descended from the three half-brothers, sons of Elizabeth Putnam Upham. They also have had the impression that they were descended from American Loyalists, which only shows how superficial evidence can distort genealogy and history." Died in Ipswich February 1725 "a very ancient maid" [2]. Based on the following Essex County Court records, Hannah had a child by John Hunkins in 1677 whom her brother William was caring for in 1677-1679: 1677. At a Quarterly Court at Ipswich in September 1677, John Hunkins, being the reputed father of Hanah Hayward's child, was ordered to pay 40s to Wm. Hayward for keeping the child to this day and 2s a week by the month until the court take further order, and to be committed to prison till it be done.[3] 1678. At a Quarterly Court at Ipswich in April 1678, the Court ordered that John Hunkins shall pay three pecks of corn a week, at least monthly, to Wm. Hayward toward the keeping of the child.[4] 1679. At a Quarterly Court at Ipswich in April 1679, the Court ordered that three pence per week be taken off from the amount that John Hunkins was ordered to pay to Wm. Hayward for keeping of the child, and that for the future he would pay 1s per week until the court take further order.[5] Since there is no birth record for William Hayward/Howard's John, it is possible that he was Hannah's illegitimate child born in 1677 and that William raised him as his own child. https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Howard-9514

- LifeSketch: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Howard-6868 ******************* Parentage William's paternal parentage is uncertain. It is reasonably plausible that William was the son of Thomas Hayward of Ipswich. There are few records relating to Thomas Hayward of Ipswich and none directly linking Thomas as William's father. The evidence that suggests that Thomas was William's father is (1) the fact that when Thomas died in 1686 he was referred to as "old Thomas Hayward" indicates that Thomas was probably the correct age to have been William's father, (2) the fact that both Thomas and William lived in Ipswich and Thomas was the only Hayward/Haward/Howard known to have been living in Ispwich who could have been William's father, and (3) the absence of evidence that makes Thomas's paternity of William unlikely. The probability that Thomas was William's father would be much higher if Hammatt's statement that an account of Robert Lord in 1678 indicates that Thomas was a hatter could be relied upon.[4] However, since Hammatt states that the 1678 record relates to recording births, the record referrred to by Hammatt may well relate to this profile's William Hayward rather than Thomas Hayward. As described in Thomas Hayward's profile, the identity of his wife is unknown and the claim that her first name was Susanna was based on the mistaken belief that Thomas Hayward of Ipswich was the Thomas Hayward who immigrated to New England on the Hercules. Immigration; Place of Birth As discussed in Thomas Hayward's profile, Thomas Hayward of Ipswich was not the Thomas Hayward who immigrated to New England aboard the Hercules in the spring of 1635. Based on the fact that the earliest date for which there is evidence that either William or his presumed father Thomas Hayward were in New England is a deposition by William, which indicates that he was a journeyman hatter in Ipswich in 1665,[3] neither William nor his presumed father Thomas Hayward had probably been living in Ipswich or elsewhere in New England for very long before that date. As a result, it appears likely that William (and presumably his father and sister Hannah and possibly one or more other siblings) emigrated to New England sometime in 1660-1664 and that William had been born somewhere in England. Hatmaker In a deposition on June 24, 1670, William Hayward deposed that when Edmund Ashby of Ipswich went to Samuel Graves of Ipswich, hatmaker, in 1665, the latter agreed with him to instruct him in the work, deponent being then a journeyman.[3] This record indicates that, in 1665, William was a journeyman hatmaker (i.e., one who has completed his apprenticeship but was not yet a master and was working for a master hatmaker). The record suggests that William may have been working for Samuel Graves at the time. If Thomas Hayward was a hatmaker himself and was William's father, it would seem more likely that William would have worked for him. William's will confirms that his occupation was hatmaker, as he described himself as such in the will.[1] Children William had the following children, all born in Ipswich: Mary, b. December 1667,[5][6] m. October 17, 1685 Joseph Fuller Jr of Ipswich[7] Tabitha, b. January, 21, 1669/70,[8][6] m. January 29, 1689/90 Christopher Hodkins of Ipswich,[7] d. September 15, 1735 in Ipswich[7] William, b. June 25, 1673[5][6] Mercy, b. October 8, 1675,[5][6] m. Daniel Hovey, Jr of Ipswich[7] Martha, b. March 31, 1678,[5][6] never married,[7] d. June 23, 1748 in Ipswich[7] John,* b. about 1683[6] Samuel, b. October 3, 1685[5][6] Since there is no birth record for John, it is possible that he was the illegitimate son of William's unwed sister Hannah, who, based on Essex County Court records in 1677-1679, had a child by John Hunkins in 1677 whom William was caring for. Will; Death; Estate William made his will on July 23, 1709. In his will, he described himself as "William Howard, senior, of Ipswich living the County of Essex in the Province of Massachusetts Bay in New England, hatmaker." He made bequests to his wife (unnamed), sons William Howard, John Howard and Samuel Howard, daughters Mary Fuller, Tabitha Hodgkin and Mercy Hovey, and daughter Martha. William directed that sons John and Samuel provide William's sister Hannah Howard with food, clothing and lodging for the rest of her life. He named his sons John and Samuel as co-executors.[1] According to William's gravestone, William died on July 25, 1709 "in ye 75 year of his age."[1][2] William's will was proved on August 1, 1709.[1] https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Howard-6868

- LifeSketch: MARGARIE MARGARET HOWES was born 1 September 1588 in Bury, St. Edmunds, Suffolk, England, to Erasmus Howes (1560-1591) and Katherine Bentley (1570-.) She married John Goodrich, 7 August 1615, at St. James, Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk, England. She died 21 April 1632 at Bury St. Edmunds, County of Suffolk, England. Her husband died the 19th of April the same year. She was 44 years old. Suffolk, England Wikitree: Margery Howe, daughter of John Howe and Margery Lonsdale, was baptized 15 Dec 1588 at Bury St. Mary Parish in Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk, England.[1] John Goodrich married Margery Howe, daughter of John Howe and Margerie Lonsdale, on 07 Aug 1615 at Bury St. James Parish in Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk, England, [2] and they had 4 sons born ~1616-1627; of which three sons John (bp. 22 Mar 1617/8), William the Younger (bp. 13 Feb 1621/2) and Jeremy (bp. 24 Jun 1627) were baptized at Bury St. Mary Parish in Bury St. Edmunds, and William the Elder, who became a minister, enrolled at Caius College in 1634 at age 17, and so was likely born ~1616-1617 and, as the eldest son, was named after paternal grandfather William Goodrich of Hessett in keeping with family tradition. [3] The will of John Goodrich, Clothier of Bury St. Edmunds, has long been known to have been made 14 Apr 1632 and proved 16 May 1632. [4] What is not as well known is a legal document dated 24 Jul 1633, in which brothers Thomas Chaplin and Clement Chaplin contested certain features of the will of John Goodrich, and further revealed John Goodrich died on 20 Apr 1632, and his wife Margery died within 7 days afterward (20-27 Apr 1632), and confirmed that they had both died during an epidemic of a disease they had contracted together. [5] Orphaned by 27 Apr 1632, their sons John Goodrich and William the Younger Goodrich came to America in the care of guardian Clement Chaplin in 1635 on the Elizabeth and Ann. [6] Clement Chaplin had been appointed by the 14 Apr 1632 will of their father John Goodrich as their guardian, and the keeper of their inheritances, until each reached the age of 21. [7] After a brief stay in Cambridge, MA, Clement Chaplin brought John and William Goodrich with him; first to Hartford, Connecticut and then Wethersfield, Connecticut in 1636, where John and William no doubt were kept busy on the 1,200 acres of land in what later became Glastonbury that was owned by Clement Chaplin; then the largest landowner of Wethersfield. - Birth: Holmgard, Veliky Novgorod, gorod Velikiy Novgorod, Novgorod Oblast, Russia
- LifeSketch: Heidrek married a girl from Finland who was named Sifka, like the Hunnic princess. One day, they were visiting king Rollaug of Gardariki. In order to oppose a fourth word of advice given by his father, he told Sifka a secret and asked her to swear an oath never to tell anyone. The secret was that he had accidentally killed King Rollaug's son, in a hunting accident. Naturally, Sifka immediately ran to King Rollaug and told him about the news, which caused King Rollaug to capture Heidrek and to kill all of his retinue. The two men who bound him were no others but the two culprits he had saved from the gallows. When king Rollaug was about to burn Heidrek alive, someone broke the news that the prince was still alive and that Heidrek was innocent. Rollaug apologized and in recompense for Heidrek's losses he gave him his own daughter, Hergerd. Heidrek and Hergerd had a daughter who was named Hervor, the shieldmaiden, after her grandmother who had just died. This was the beginning of a time of pieceful reign from Heidrek's side.

Joan Hodyngton c1420-c1475 married Roger Wynter c1400-c1470 In Habington's there is an interesting account of Hodington Church, written about the year 1630-40, where it is said: "In the higher southe windowe of the Chauncell and the fyrst pane, a man as before armed, and his coate armor carryinge Sables a fesse and cressant Ermine; in the next pane hys wyfe, on her man tell Sables a fesse and cressant Ermine, on her inward garment Hodington's Armes; the subscription, Orate pro animabus Rogeri Wintor Armigeri et Johannae uxoris eius" (A Survey of Worcestershire by Thomas Habington Vol II p 117. Thus confirming that Roger Wynter married Joan daughter of Thomas Hodyngton. Thomas Hodyngton had died leaving two daughters Agnes and Joan coheirs to his manor of Hodyngton. His daughter Agnes married Robert Russell and his daughter Joan had apparently married firstly Nicholas Stoke and then Roger Wynter. Afterwards, the Russells and Wynters entered into agreement, whereby the Wynters were seised of the manor of Hodyngton on payment of 22s rent to the Russells. The first mention we have of this Roger Wynter is in 1420 when he was acting as an attorney at law. He went guarantor and attorney in a number of legal disputes over the period 1420 to 1436 . During this time, Roger Wynter is referred to as a gentleman of Wych, Worcestershire. Later, Roger Wynter is mentioned in a court case in 1438 as a gentleman residing at Hodyngton. Presumably, this is just after he married Joan the daughter of Thomas Hodyngton, the former wife of Nicholas Stokes. According to Delafield, his wife Joan brought to Roger Wynter not only the manor of Hodyngton but also an interest in the manor of Hadzor, Worcestershire, which had come down from her great-grandfather, Thomas Cassy. This is based on a record of a legal dispute in 1450 before the kings court between Roger Wynter and Peter Cassy against several defendants as “of Hadsore” for trepass . The last mention we have of Roger Wynter is in 1461 when he was acting as an attorney in a conveyance of property. He seems to have died sometime between the period 1461 to 1474. For in 1474 his wife Joan and her son Robert were acting alone in granting a lease for one hundred and one years for rent arising from a toft in Wyche, in the parish of St. Peter the Apostle. She seems to have died shortly thereafter as we have her son Robert acting alone in granting a lease in May 1475. https://drive.google.com/file/d/11cMTF31rgpireExpBP8gnaiaARZX6KVj/view

- Birth: ABT 512, Reidgotalandi, Norway
- Also known as: Sifka of Finland
- Not Married to Heidrek: Heidrek used his army to subjugate the Gothic kingdom and ruled with brutal force. He defeated Humle, the king of the Huns, and captured his daughter Sifka, whom he raped. When she became pregnant, she was sent back to her father's kingdom, where she bore a son who was named Hlöd.
- After Olof and Heidrek's divorce:: He married a girl from Finland who was named Sifka, like the Hunnic princess. One day, they were visiting king Rollaug of Gardariki. To oppose a fourth word of advice given by his father, he told Sifka a secret and asked her to swear an oath never to tell anyone. The secret was that he had accidentally killed King Rollaug's son in a hunting accident. Naturally, Sifka immediately ran to King Rollaug and told him the secret, which caused King Rollaug to capture Heidrek and to kill all of his retinue. The two men who bound him were none other than the two culprits he had saved from the gallows. When king Rollaug was about to burn Heidrek alive, someone broke the news that the prince was still alive and that Heidrek was innocent. Rollaug apologized and in recompense for Heidrek's losses he gave him his own daughter, Hergerd.
